Rebuilding Navy Office, &c.

SIR Charles Harbord reports from the Committee, to which the Bill for rebuilding the Navy Office was committed, some Amendments, agreed by the Committee to be made to the Bill: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the same, being again twice read, were, upon the Question, agreed.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed, be ingrossed.

Duchy of Cornwall Leasing.

Sir Jonathan Trelawny reports from the Committee, to which the Bill for enabling his Majesty to make Leases of his Duchy Lands in Cornwall, was committed, some Amendments agreed by the Committee to be made to the said Bill: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the same, being again twice read, were, upon the Question, agreed.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed; and read the Third time, when the House is full.

Rippon Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue out his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a Writ for electing a new Member to serve for the Borough of Rippon in the County of York, in the room of Dr. Burwell, lately deceased.

Selling Cattle.

A Bill for repealing a Clause in a former Act, prohibiting Jobbers and Salesmen to sell fat Cattle, was read the Second time.

Preventing Growth of Popery.

The House then proceeded upon the Provisoes sent from the Lords, to the Bill for preventing Dangers, which may happen from Popish Recusants: Which were all read the Second time: And some of them being long, and consisting of several Particulars of different Nature, the House proceeded on the Debate of the Proviso mark'd (C.)

And the Question being put, To agree with the Lords in that Proviso;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That the rest of the Provisoes, sent from the Lords, be referred to the Consideration of a Committee of the whole House; to take them into Consideration; and report the Matter to the House, with their Opinions.

The House then resolved into a Committee of the whole House.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have commanded us to acquaint you, that, in regard of the Recess, that is so soon intended, and the weighty Affairs they have before them, they do intend to sit this Afternoon; and desire this House will do so too; and to acquaint you, that they have agreed with the House, in the Bill for naturalizing Philip Lloyd Gentleman.

The Messengers being withdrawn;

House agrees to sit.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree to sit this Afternoon.

The Messengers being called in; Mr. Speaker acquaints them, That the House had agreed to sit this Afternoon, in Answer to the Lords Desire.

That this House doth agree with the Committee, That the House be resolved into a Committee of the whole House, at the First Sitting in the Afternoon, to proceed in the Consideration of the Provisoes sent down from the Lords, to the Bill for preventing Dangers which may happen by Popish Recusants.

Then the House adjourned till Three of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Thirsk, &c. Elections.

RESOLVED, &c. That the Committee of Elections do, before the Recess, proceed in the Matter concerning the double Returns for the Boroughs of Thirsk and Malton, in the County of York, who are returned by the proper Officers.

Resolved, &c. That, as to all Matters of Elections and Privileges, the Committee of Privileges and Elections be discharged from Sitting till after the Recess, save only as to the Matters between Sir Leoline Jenkins and Mr. Hales for the Port of Hyeth; and between Mr. Herne and Mr. Childe for the Borough of Dartmouth: And all other Matters depending, are to go on in Course, after the Recess, as they stand in Order.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Meeres do withdraw, and examine the said Amendments, and make Report thereof to the House, so soon as he has perused the same.

Coinage.

An ingrossed Bill concerning Coinage, was read the Third time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act to continue a former Act concerning Coinage.

Sir Thomas Meeres reports from the Committee of the whole House, several Amendments agreed by the Committee to be made to the Provisoes, sent from the Lords, to the Bill for preventing Dangers which may happen from Popish Recusants: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the same being again twice read, were, upon the Question, severally agreed; and are as followeth;

Amendments to the Proviso mark'd (A).

Line 9th, after the Word "Salary" leave out "or Estate;" and, before the Word "Salary," add "or."

Line 10th, after the Word "valuable," change "or" into "and."

Line 11th, After the Word "Years," add these Words, "Other than such as relate to any Office, or to any Place of Trust under his Majesty; and other than Pensions of Bounty, or voluntary Pensions."

Line 14. Before the Word "Hereditaments," insert "or;" and, after the Word "Hereditaments," leave out "or other Profits whatsoever;" and insert "not being Officers; nor to take away or make void any Pension or Salary already granted by his Majesty, to any Person who was personally instrumental in the happy Preservation of his Sacred Majesty, after the Battle at Worcester, in the Year 1651, until his Majesty's Arrival beyond the Seas."

Line 45. After the Word "enjoy," insert "what is provided for, as aforesaid;" and leave out all, to the Word "notwithstanding," Line 52.

Line 53. After the Word "Act," leave out all, to the Word "provided," in the 55th Line.

Line 57th, Leave out the Words "in the Lords House of;" and insert, "before the Peers sitting in."
