He begs to compound for delinquency in going to Oxford, whither he went not on the first summons, but was forced by a party of horse, who seized him at the house where he remained for the safeguard of his wife and 8 children. Never took up arms, nor executed a commission, nor was he present at the great vote against Parliament. Surrendered before 1 Oct. 1644, since when he has undergone a long and chargeable imprisonment in the Tower. 175 473

Arthur Levitt, of Petworth, Sussex, petitions that John Apsley in 1633 mortgaged to him for 300l. lands in Pul borough Park, &c., value 24l. a year, which lapsed to him in 1636 for non-payment. As Apsley is a delinquent, and has not compounded, begs to compound for the same on the Act of 1 Aug. 1650, and meantime not to be interrupted in possession. 99 695
