LIST 11 PREBENDARIES OF BISHOPSHURST
First reference to this preb., called 'Hurst', 1291 (Taxatio p. 137b). In 1535 consisted of farm in 'Bishopshurst' and lands in Sidlesham (W. Suss.) (Valuation 1535 p. 165). 'Bishopshurst', now marked by Bishop's Place in Albourne parish, was part of the bp.'s manor of Streatham (W. Suss.; see PN Suss. I 215; not in DB).
Valuation 1291 £16 13s 4d (Taxatio p. 137b).

First identified is Richard de Bury, who had papal prov. to next vacant preb. 4 July 1328; prob. this preb. by 26 Dec. 1330; bp. of Durham 1333 (2 Fasti VII 14).
