ARCHDEACONS OF ST. ALBANS

Archdeaconry transferred from London to Rochester diocese by Order in Council 8 Aug. 1845 to come into effect 1 Jan. 1846 in accordance with Stat. 6 & 7 Will. IV c. 77 (Lond. Gaz. no. 20499 (pp. 2541-6)).

Coll. 13 Jan. 1846 (P.R.O., E 331 Roch./63). Canonry formerly annexed to archdenry of Rochester annexed to archdenry of St. Albans by Order in Council 27 Aug. 1860 (cf. Stat. 26 & 27 Vic. c. 36 s. 3; DRc/Ac 13 p. 726). Archdenry of Rochester revived and annexed to archdcnry of St. Albans in accordance with 'The London Diocese Act, 1863' (Stat. 26 & 27 Vic. c. 36 s. 3; DRc/Ac 13 pp. 853, 856). Archdenry of St. Albans separated from archdcnry of Rochester by 23 Feb. 1882 in accordance with 'The Bishopric of St. Albans Act, 1875' (Stat. 38 & 39 Vic. c. 34; DRc/Ac 15 pp. 786, 788). Grant d. as archdcn. of Rochester 25 Nov. 1883 (DRc/Ac 14 p. 852; The Times, 27 Nov. p. 7).
