PREBENDARIES OF UFFCULME

Preb. established by act of parliament 1543, to replace preb. of Bedwyn, surrendered by bp. of Salisbury to the king, and granted by him, together with the patronage of the parish ch. of Uffculme in Devon, to the earl of Hertford, presumably on condition that a preb. be formed out of it (Lords Journals 1 246, 248; L. & P. xix i no. 25 p. 14).
