1201 JOHN HUNTLEY.
Writ 12 March, inq. 14 April, 11 Hen. VII.
He was seised together with Agnes his wife and in her right of the under-mentioned acres of land, and being so seised they had issue a son John. And afterwards she died, and he surviving her, was seised of the said land in his demesne as of frank tenement by the curtesy.
He died 1 March in the above year. John Huntley, aged 19, is his son and heir.
DORSET. Twenty acres of land and three acres of meadow in Wathe in the parish of Lyme Regis, worth 4s., held of Halneth Malyver (sic) and Joan his wife, in her right, as of the manor of Colway, service unknown.
Thirty acres of land in Symondesborough, worth 3s. 4d., held of the Abbot of Cerne (Cernellie), service unknown.

1202 JOHN HUNTLEY.

He was seised of the under-mentioned manor and lands in Nethir and Over Adbere and Homere in fee, and being so seised enfeoffed John Byconell, knt., Robert Hymerford, esq., John Hymerford the elder, esq., Peter Baunfeld, esq., John Attewater, and Thomas Hyllyng, thereof in fee to the use of his last will.
By his last will he ordered that his debt to one John Hymerford, esq., amounting to 262l. 3s. 5d., should be paid out of the issues and profits of the said lands and tenements. The debt in question is not yet discharged.
He and Agnes his wife were seised of the other under-mentioned manor and land in fee in her right, and being so seised had issue John Huntley the younger; and afterwards she died, and he survived her, and was seised of the said premises in his demesne as of frank tenement, as tenant by the curtesy.
He died 1 March in the said year. John Huntley, aged 19 and more, is his son and heir.
SOMERS. Two parts of the manor of Nethir Adbere, worth 20l., held of John Horsey, late of Okeley, service unknown.

He was seised of the under-mentioned land in Sowthcote in fee, and being so seised, by deed dated 12 March, 10 Hen. VII, gave it to William Tankeret and John Fitz in fee.
He died the last day of June, 10 Hen. VII. Isabel Sowthcote, aged 2 and more, is his daughter and heir.

William Martyn, William Basket, Christopher Martyn, and Thomas Moleyns, were seised of the under-mentioned manor and land in fee, and being so seised demised it by deed dated 18 May, 5 Hen. VII, to the said John Trenchard, and Margery his wife, who survives, and his heirs and assigns.
He died 7 Jan. last. Thomas Trenchard, aged 15 and more, is his son and heir.

1208 THOMAS LOVET, son and heir of THOMAS LOVET and ANN his wife.
Writ de Ætate probanda 19 Oct., probatio œtatis 23 Oct., 11 Hen. VII.
N’HAMP. He was born on Michaelmas day, 13 Edw. IV, at Astewell, and baptized in the parish church of Wapnam in the said county.
Thomas Thorne (a juror aged 50 and more) went that day for Margaret Thorne, who was godmother of the boy; she was then living with Thomas Billyng, chief justice of the King’s bench, who was the child’s godfather.
Richard Billyng (a juror aged 50 and more) carried a silver salt, parcel-gilt, to Wapenham church that day, with salt in it.
Richard Gryffon (a juror aged 60 and more) carried basin and ewer to the church that day for the godfathers to wash their hands; and he saw that the child’s gossips were the said Thomas Billyng, one John Palady, clk., and the said Margaret.
Thomas Saunders (a juror aged 60) obtained a lease that day of a house in Helmeden near Astewell, William Shortlond (aged 70) buried his wife Margaret in Helmenden church, John Page (aged 56) married Thomas Saunders’ daughter Katharine in Wapnam church, Ellen, then wife of Thomas Cokebell (aged 50), who was ‘le mydwyf,’ carried the child into their house to warm it, William Hay (aged 50) took a lease of a virgate of land in Helmenden near Astwell for 26 years of the Prior of Canons Ashby, &c.
His father Thomas held lands of the King, as of the honor of Gloucester, as tenant by the curtesy after the death of the said Anne his wife.
His lands of inheritance were in the custody of John Boteler the elder and William Downehall, esqs., by grant from King Henry VII.

Reginald Bray, knt., was seised of the under-mentioned manor of Wodhed and land and advowsons in Briggasterton, in fee, and being so seised enfeoffed the said William Husey, knt., Reginald Geyton, and Thomas Bellars thereof, to the use of the said William in fee.
By his last will he directed his feoffees to give the said manor, &c., to Elizabeth [his wife] for the term of her life, with remainder to John Husey, Squire of the Body to the King, [son and heir of them the said] William and Elizabeth, in tail male, with remainder to William Husey and Robert Husey his other sons successively in tail male, with remainder to the said John, William, and Robert in tail (male, sic), with remainder to [Mary wife of William Willoughby] one of his daughters and Elizabeth Husey his other daughter in tail, with remainder to his own right heirs.
Guy Fayrfax, late one of the justices of the King’s Bench, and others, are enfeoffed of the under-mentioned manor of Pyckworth and [lands] in Ownby, to the use of David Malpas for the term of his life, with remainder to the use of the said William Husey and his heirs.
He died 8 Sept. in the said year. John Husey, aged …, is his son and heir.
RUTL. Manor of Wodhed and divers lands and tenements in Bryggasterton, with the advowson of the parish church of Briggasterton, and the advowson of the free chapel there;

1211 MARY SALVAN, widow.

She died seised in fee tail of the under-mentioned land in Lokyngton by the gift of John Salvan, knt., to her and Thomas Salvan her husband and the heirs of their bodies.
She held the under-mentioned lands in Nessewyk for the term of her life by the gift of William Salvan, who held the same, for the term of the life of the said Mary, by the gift of the said Thomas Salvan, with reversion expectant to Ralph son and heir of the said Thomas Salvan in fee.
She held the under-mentioned land in Shirthwayt, of the inheritance of the said Ralph, in dower, after the death of the said Thomas her husband, of the two parts of the manor of Newbiggyng belonging to him, with reversion expectant to the said Ralph in fee.
She died the last day of September last. The said Ralph Salvan, esq., aged 23 and more, is son and heir of the said Thomas and Mary.
YORK. Five messuages, five crofts, seventeen bovates of land, and two enclosures of meadow in Lokyngton, worth 10l., held of the prior of Watton, service unknown.

The said Richard Ferrers, esq., suffered a recovery, Michaelmas Term, 9 Hen. VII, of the under-mentioned manor and land, being then seised of it in his demesne as of frank tenement, to Alexander Beynam, knt., Christopher Beynam, esq., Thomas Ferres (sic), William Grevyle, William Beynam, and Roger Porter, who were accordingly seised thereof in fee, to the use of him and Elizabeth his wife, who survives, and the heirs male of his body, and who are now seised thereof in fee to the use of the said Elizabeth Ferrers, widow, for the term of her life only, because he died without any male heir of his body.
He died 20 Sept., 10 Hen. VII. Elizabeth, aged 2 and more, is his daughter and heir.

Writ of Mandamus 28 June, 11 Hen. VII; inq. 10 Oct., 12 Hen. VII.
He died the last day of May, 9 Hen. VII, seised of the under-mentioned manor and land in fee. John Fetyplace his son and heir, aged 40 and more, has received the issues and profits of the said manor and lands from the time of the death of the said Peter to the day of the taking of this inquisition.
BERKS. Manor of North Dencheworthe, worth 10l., held of the King, as of the manor of Stanford in le Vale, co. Berks, which is now in the King’s hands by virtue of a fine levied thereof to the said King by Anne, Countess of Warwick, by service and rent of one pair of gilt spurs, or 6d., and suit to the court of frank pledge of Stanford aforesaid, for all service.
A capital messuage and four virgates of land in Charney, called ‘Hall Place,’ worth 3l., held of the Abbot of St. Mary’s, Abendon, co. Berks, by service and rent of 13s. 4d. and suit to the court of view of frankpledge of Charney yearly, for all service.

John Pyttes, esq., Thomas Anlaby, and John Cokston, were seised of the under-mentioned close called ‘The South Bromley’ in fee, and being so seised, by deed dated on the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, 19 Edw. IV, demised it to Peter Lygger and his assigns for the term of twenty years then next ensuing, with remainder to the said John Sterte and Joan his wife, daughter of the said Peter Lygger, and the heirs of his body, with remainder in default to his right heirs. She survives.
He died 20 Dec. last, seised of the other under-mentioned messuages and land in fee. John Sterte, aged 3 and more, is his son and heir.
DEVON. A close containing 20a. land in Sterte, called ‘The South Bromley,’ in the tithing of Bakkemore within the hundred of Plympton, worth 13s. 4d., held of William Strode, esq., as of the lordship of Bakkemore, by fealty and 12d. rent, viz. 6d. at Michaelmas and 6d. at Easter yearly, for all service.
A messuage, a tenement, and a certain close belonging to the said tenement, five ferlings of land, 4a. meadow, 6a. wood, and 60a. gorse and heather in Sterte, worth 20s., held of the King in chief, by service of giving the King, when he chances at any season of the year to hunt within the said county, a broad arrow valued at 2d., for all service.

He was seised of the under-mentioned manors and land in fee, and being so seised gave them to George and Richard Darell, knts., Hugh Pavy, clk., John Carant son of John Garant, Henry Longe, and John Chocke, esqs., and Richard Brigges, ‘gentilman,’ now deceased, and Alexander Darell, esq., who survives and is solely seised thereof in his demesne as of fee.
He died on Tuesday the morrow of the feast of the Assumption last. Christopher Wroughton, knt., aged 40 and more, is his son and heir.

1217 JOAN, late the wife of ROBERT BILLESDON, knt.
Writ 20 Oct., inq. 10 Nov., 12 Hen. VII.
The said Joan, William Welbek, Henry Wyngar, Nicholas Naynsour, Simon Byllesdon, John Byllesdon, Alexander Abbernett, clk., and Richard Smyth were seised of the under-mentioned tenements called ‘Monkis,’ ‘Talbottis,’ and ‘Wralebrigg,’ &c., and three acres of meadow in Eppyng, in fee, and being so seised, by deed dated 10 July, 9 Hen. VII, demised them to John Gunthorp, clk., and Richard Skipton, clk., by the name of all those lands and tenements, &c., which had belonged to the said Robert Byllesdon, knt., or to any other person, or persons, for his use in Grenested, &c., to the use of the said Joan Billesdon for the term of her life, and after her decease to the use of Thomas Byllesdon, son and heir of the said Robert Byllesdon, knt., and Elizabeth wife of the said Thomas, and the heirs of the said Thomas’ body. By virtue of which feoffment the said John Gunthorp, clk., and Richard Skipton were seised of the said lands in fee, long before and on the day of her death, to her use for life and continuously from the day of her death were seised thereof in fee to the use of the said Thomas and Elizabeth, and the heirs of his body.
The said Robert Byllesdon, knt., Amamewe Bartet, William Dellowe, and Thomas Hyllard were seised of the under-mentioned messuages called ‘Hayles’ and ‘Ballardis’ in fee, to the use of John Williams, father of the said Joan, and whose daughter and heir she was, and his heirs, and to the use of his last will. The said John Wylliams died, and the said William Bellowe, Amamewe Bartet, and Thomas Hyllard, afterwards died, and the said Robert survived them, and was solely seised of the said messuages in fee, to the said use. And afterwards the said Robert died so seised, whereupon the said messuages descended to the said Thomas Byllesdon as son and heir of the said Robert. And afterwards the said Joan died, and the said Thomas, as son and heir of the said Robert entered, and was and is seised of the said messuages in his demesne as of fee.
She died 18 Oct. last. The said Thomas Byllesdon, aged 30 and more, is her son and heir.
ESSEX. A messuage, two hundred and four score acres of land, and 20a. meadow, called ‘Monkis alias Bobyngford,’ in the parishes of Grenested, Castell Onger, High Onger, Stanford Ryvers, Bobyngworth, and Shelley, worth 100s., held of ….. Brent, service unknown.
A messuage called ‘Talbottis’ on Grenested Grene in the parish of Grenested, worth 13s. 4d., held of Henry, Earl of Essex, service unknown.
A messuage, 130a. land, and 10a. meadow called ‘Wralebrigge’ in the parish of Northweld, otherwise described as a messuage, and all lands and tenements, rents, reversions, and services, called ‘Wralebrigge,’ ‘Gymbillys,’ ‘Old Abbottis,’ and ‘Young Abbottis,’ in Northweld, eight parcels of land called ‘Marshalls’ two crofts called ‘Chapmans,’ and three fields, one called ‘Myllers Fyld alias Brodde Fyld,’ and the third called ‘Fyppes Fyld,’ in Northweld, worth 40s., held of the King, as of the earldom of Salisbury, in socage.
Two meadows, containing three acres, one called ‘Utriggis’ and the other ‘Roundetoft,’ and a capital messuage, 280a. land, and 20a. meadow, called ‘Hayles,’ in the parish of Eppyng, worth 6l., held of Humphrey, Duke of Buckingham, service unknown.
A messuage, called ‘Ballardis alias Wilcokkis,’ in Northweld.

Writ wanting; inq. 4 Nov., 12 Hen. VII.
Agnes Brytyff, widow, and Robert Tylles, gent., were seised, of the under-mentioned manor in fee, and of the under-mentioned advowson in their demesne as of fee and right, and being so seised demised them to the said John Brytyff, named in the writ, John Heydon, esq., William Greye, esq., John Barley, clk., John Hopton, clk., and Robert Jarmyn, chaplain, by the names of John Brytyff, John Heydon, son and heir of Henry Heydon, knt., and William Grey, esqs., John Barley, clk., rector of the church of Wynterton, co. Norf., John Hopton, clk., vicar of the church of Reydon, co. Suff., and Robert Jarmyn, chaplain, rector of the church of Merton, to hold for the term of the life of the said John Brytyff and five years over, with remainder to Robert, son of the said John Brytyff, in tail, with remainder to the said John’s right heirs. The said William Grey and John Brytyff successively died, and the survivors, viz., John Heydon, John Barley, John Hopton, and Robert Jarmyn are now seised of the said manor and advowson in their demesne as of frank tenement for the said five years term, to the use of the executors of the said John Brytyff’s last will, with remainder to the said Bobert Brytyff in tail.
He died 17 April last. The said Robert Brytcyff, aged 14 on the feast of St. Margaret last, is his son and heir.
SUFF. Manor of Sutherton, worth 10 marks, and the advowson of the church of Sutherton, held of Thomas West De la Ware, knt., Lord De la Ware, by fealty and service of a hive of honey (unius bolli favi mellis videlicet tanti spacii favi mellis quo unus apex in habitat), for all service.

1219 JOHN BRYTYFF, esq.
Writ wanting; inq. 4 Nov., 12 Hen. VII.
Edmund Brytyff, his father, was seised of the under-mentioned manor in fee, and being so seised gave it to John Heydon and John Dynne, who were accordingly seised thereof in fee to the use of the said Edmund and of his last will. By his last will the said Edmund directed that his said feoffees should, immediately after his decease, make a sufficient estate of the said manor to Agnes his wife for the term of her life.
The said Edmund had issue the said John Brytyff and died, and after his death the said John Heydon and John Dynne demised the said manor to the said Agnes late his wife, and she was accordingly, and is still, seised of it in her demesne as of frank tenement.

IV, gave the same, by the names of his manor, called ‘Blakes’ in Ware and of all other his lands, &c., in Ware, Great Hadham, and Wideford, to Thomas Braughyng the elder, father of the said Thomas named in the writ, for the term of his life without impeachment of waste, with remainder to the said Thomas Braughyng the son and Joan daughter of John Scowe of London, fishmonger, then wife of the said Thomas the son, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Thomas Braughyng the father.

The said Thomas Beamont was accordingly seised of the said manor in his demesne as of fee tail, and died so seised, whereupon the said Peter and Joan entered upon and were seised of the said manor, he in his demesne as of frank tenement, and she in her demesne as of fee tail. She died so seised, without heirs of her body, and the said Peter survived her and is still so seised.
Henry Bramelcombe and William Sherlond were seised of the under-mentioned manor of Redylcombe in fee, and being so seised gave it to the said Peter and Joan and the heirs of her body. He survived her and is seised of the said manor in his demesne as of frank tenement.

A jury panell, and a writ from the Escheator to the Sheriff of Staffordshire, dated 26 Feb., 12 Hen. VII, requiring him to have the said jurors present at Brewode on the Saturday after St. Bede the Bishop then next, are appended to the King’s writ.
STAFF. He was 21 years old and more on the feast of the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr last, as the jurors well know; thus Thomas Peyto, gent, (aged 50 and more), recollects that he was present in the church of the parish of Brewod on the morrow of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 14 Edw. IV, and saw when Robert Gifford, esq., and Christine Cresset baptized the said Richard Lane; William Walhouse says that he was sent by the said Ralph Lane, on the said morrow of St. John, for Elizabeth, Prioress of the black nuns of Brewod, to be godmother of the said Richard; William Siche (aged 60 and more) well remembers that the said Richard is of the full age of 21 and more, because a certain field called ‘Prestruddynge,’ lying in the fee of Brewod, late part of the lands of the said Ralph Lane, was sown with Lenten grain the said day and year when the said Ralph Lane father of the said Richard died, &c.
It is stated in the writ that the said Richard alleged himself to have been born at Bruwod, co. Staff., and to have been baptized in the church there; and that his lands of inheritance were in the custody of Edward Burton, by grant from King Edward IV.

He was seised of the under-mentioned manor of Weston Brabefe in fee, and being so seised enfeoffed John Kyngesmyll, serjeant-at-law, Henry Mompesson, clk., and John Harrys, ‘gentilman,’ thereof in fee. They gave the said manor to him and Joan his wife, and his heirs and assigns, by virtue of which feoffment the said Maurice and Joan were seised of the said manor, he in fee and she in her demesne as of frank tenement. She survived him and is still so seised.
He was seised at his death of the under-mentioned two acres of land in Tiderley and of the office of one of the bailiffs (cujusdam ballivi) of Bukholt in fee.

Thomas Kyngeston, esq., his father was seised of the under-mentioned manor, messuages, and land in fee, and being so seised, by deed dated 20 March, 5 Hen. VII, enfeoffed John Lysle, Thomas Champney, John Dale, and John Seward, esqs., and William Colett, clk., of the said manor, the advowson of the church of the said manor excepted, and of the said lands and tenements, to the use of the said John Kyngeston, named in the writ, and Eleanor then his wife, and the heirs and assigns of the said John, by virtue of which feoffment they were seised thereof in fee to the use aforesaid.
The said John Kyngeston had issue a son John, and died intestate as regards the said manor and other premises, and the said Eleanor survived him. Thus, the said feoffees were seised of the manor and other premises in fee, to the use of the said Eleanor for the term of her life, and after her decease to the use of the said John Kyngeston, son of the said John in fee. And afterwards he said Eleanor died, wherefore the said feoffees are now seised of the said manor and other premises in fee to the use of the said John Kyngeston, the son, his heirs and assigns.
He died the last day of September 12 Hen. VII, John Kyngeston, aged 6 and more, is his son and heir.
The said Eleanor died 20 December last.

1249 THOMAS STUCLE, son and heir of NICHOLAS STUCLE, esq.
Writ de Ætate probanda, 20 Sept., probatio œtatis 30 Jan., 12 Hen. VII.
The writ recites that the said Nicholas Stucle, his father, held of the King in chief, as of the duchy of Cornwall, which was then in the King’s hands; and recites the grant by deed dated 1 Dec., 5 Hen. VII, of the said duchy to Prince Arthur, and to the eldest sons of the said Prince and his heirs, Kings of England; and directs that the said Thomas, who claims to have been born at Afton and baptized in the church there and to be now of full age, shall make proof, &c., warning being first given to Thomas Wode, late one of the King’s sergeants-at-law, and Thomas Inglefeld, who by grant of the King had the custody of the said Thomas Stucle’s lands, to appear, &c.
DEVON. He is, and on midsummer day last was, of the age of 21 years. Thus:—
John Courtenay of Mollond (a juror aged 46 and more) says that the said Thomas is aged 21, and this he well remembers, because the said Nicholas had issue the said Thomas by Thomasine his wife, and a year and more later had issue by her a daughter called Joan, and again a year or more later another daughter called Margaret. And afterwards the said Thomasine died, and the said Nicholas married Anne the relict of Thomas Butside, one of the daughters of Edward Pomerey, esq., and sister of Elizabeth late the wife of Humphrey Courtenay, esq., deponent’s uncle. And he says that eighteen years have elapsed from the time when, after the death of the said Thomasine, the said Anne took the said Nicholas to husband; and this he knows well, because the said Nicholas and Anne a year after their marriage had issue a son William Stukeley, who is now seventeen years old. And he well remembers the foregoing particulars because he has been constantly at the house (conversans in domo) of the said Nicholas since the marriage of the said Nicholas and Anne, and has known the said Thomas Stukeley all the time.
Nicholas Cokeworthy, esq., (a juror aged 42 and more), says, &c., and this he well remembers because he was present at the said Thomas’ baptism in Afton parish church on the 24th of June, 15 Edw. IV, and saw the child lifted from the holy font there by Thomasine late the wife of Thomas Seyntmawre, knt., mother of the said Nicholas. And on the said 23rd (sic) of June, he, Nicholas Cokeworthy, entered the birth (scripsit nativitatem) of the said Thomas with his own hand in a book belonging to the said Nicholas.
Thomas Mulford (a juror aged 44) was godfather, two days after the birth of the said Thomas Stukeley, to William son of Thomas Maude, at Est Wolryngton, under a mile distant from Afton parish church, which William was aged 21 on the 26th of June last.
William Clotworthy (a juror aged 50 and more) says that the said Thomas is aged 21, and this he well remembers because he was present at Afton when he was born; and the said Thomas was baptized June 24th, 15 Edw. IV, in the parish church of Afton, at which time he, the said William, was sent by the said Nicholas Stukeley to one Thomas Beamount, esq., to ask him in the name of the said Nicholas to be godfather; and the said Thomas Beamound was godfather accordingly. He the better recollects the foregoing particulars, inasmuch as within six weeks of the birth of the said Thomas, his father Thomas Clotworthy died. And he says that on the feast of St. James the Apostle last twenty-one years had elapsed since his said father’s decease.
The remaining jurors say that the said Thomas Stukeley was 21 years old on midsummer day last, because they say that he was born at Afton June 24th, 15 Edw. IV, and was baptized the same day in the parish church of Afton, at which time they were servants at the house (famuliares et conversantes) of the said Nicholas Stukeley. They further state that Joan, sister of the said Thomas, who was born after him, has been married these two years past to Philip Baynard, and they have had issue between them since their marriage divers boys. And they have been acquainted with the said Thomas Stukeley from the said time of his birth up to the present, and so they know by their own proper observation and also by the common report of the county where he was born, that he was twenty-one years old and more on midsummer day last.

SUSSEX. He was born at Pulburgh on the feast of St. George which fell on the 23rd of April, 13 Edw. IV, and was baptized in the baptistry of the parish church of Pulburgh, as is testified by:—
John Grene the younger, who says that he knows this, because his cousin Thomas Polyng was born at Pulburgh on the feast of the Purification next before the birth of the said William Mill, and the said Thomas was twenty-four years old on the same feast last past.
John Segrave agrees, and remembers the facts because Alice Tranch-mere his sister was the child’s wet nurse for a year and more.
Richard Perham remembers the dates because he and Thomas Monery leased land in Pulbergh of Thomas Combes by indenture for twenty-four years the same day, which term expires at Easter next.
Reginald Topyn says that William son of Elias Clarys was born at Pulburgh the day after the said William, and will be twenty-four years old 24 April next.
Thomas Wolder says that he was a servant then newly engaged in the household of the said Richard Mill and was deputed to carry a torch (tortem) before the said William from the church to the house.
John Coke the younger had a heavy fall from his horse the day of the said birth and broke his right arm and was ill a long time with it, and that was on St. George’s day.
Thomas Monery deposes that he and Richard Perham took a lease of land in Pulburgh that day of Thomas Combes, esq., by indenture dated 23 April, 13 Edw. IV, for twenty-four years, which term will expire on 23 April next.
William Umfrey says that Richard Mill father of the said William received, and was in the act of receiving, 20s. from him in the hall of the said Richard at the time when it was announced to him by a woman called Isabel that his wife had borne a very fine boy, whereupon being exceedingly pleased he gave the said Isabel 12d. of the sum he had just received, and quickly left this deponent, telling his clerk John Forster to give him a receipt, which he has still got, and which is dated 23 April, 13 Edw. IV.
Elias Clarys says that William his son was born at Pulburgh the day after the said William, and he will be 24 years old on the eve of St. Mark next.
Philip Hene says that Robert Mill of Pulbergh, ‘yoman,’ was buried on the eve of St. Mark the Evangelist, 13 Edw. IV, before mid-day in Pulbergh churchyard, and the said William was baptised in Pulbergh church in the afternoon of the same day. And he, Philip, was one of the said Robert’s executors, and is bound by his will to keep his anniversary for twenty-four years, and it was twenty-three years from the said Robert’s death on the eve of St. Mark last.
John Grimvile married Agnes his wife in Pulbergh church the Sunday after the said William was born.
Robert Benet took seisin on the day the said William was born of an acre of land in Pulbergh, on the north of his tenement, which he bought of John Hunt, and the date of the deed of purchase was 22 April, 13 Edw. IV, and when he had taken his seisin he went to the house of the said Richard Mill to show him the deed and to have his advice what he had to do further, and he was then told of the birth of a son to the said Richard; and it was the talk of the servants of the said Richard and others there, that the child was to be named George, but he was called William instead, by command of William, then Earl of Arundell, as was afterwards said.
His lands of inheritance were in the custody of Thomas Combes, esq., by grant from King Edward IV.

He was seised of the under-mentioned messuage and land in fee, and being so seised gave them to William Scherman, clk., rector of the church of St. Nicholas, Little Boudon, John Clerk of Northampton, and John Freman, in fee, to the use of his last will, and by his last will directed that his executors should, during a term which is not yet expired, take all the issues and profits of the said premises, for the purposes declared in his will, and that his said feoffees should, after the expiration of the said term, make a sufficient estate in law in fee simple thereof to Thomas Pope, his son and heir. And he made the said John clerke, and John Freman, and William Pope his son, his executors.
He died 20 Dec. last. The said Thomas Pope, aged 18 and more, is his son and heir.

Thomas Dalamare, knt., was seised of the manors of Aldermanston Sperisholt, and Estmanton, co. Berks, in fee: and Edmund Pakynham, and John Parkyns and Margaret his wife, in her right, were severally seised of moieties of the manor of Fynchamsted, co. Hants (sic), in fee, which moieties they respectively held of the said Thomas Dalamare, knt., by knight-service: and the Warden and Scholars of the New College of St. Mary beside Winchester, co. Hants, were seised of the manor of Colethorp, co. Berks, in fee, which manor they held of the said Thomas Dalamare, knt., in pure alms: and the said Thomas held the said manors of Fynchamsted and Colethorp of the King in chief, by knight-service, as specified below.
And the said Thomas Dalamare, kntœ., died thus seised of the above-mentioned manors and services, which thereupon descended to Elizabeth wife of George Forster, and Frideswide Moreton, as his cousins and heirs, viz. daughters and heirs of John Dalamare his son. And the said George and Elizabeth, and Frideswide, entered upon and were seised of the said manors in fee. And afterwards the said Frideswide took to husband John Moreton, and he and she were accordingly seised thereof in her right. And a partition was subsequently made under a writ from the King, whereby the manor of Aldermanston, with certain exceptions, was allotted as her purparty to the said John and Frideswide Morton, and the manors of Spersholt and Estmanton and the excepted parts of the manor of Aldermanston, viz. 400a. land called ‘Masterelys,’ a rent of 13s. 4d. from William Illesley’s tenement, and 30a. land enclosed together in four closes called ‘Graunt Courtis Closis,’ were allotted to the said George and Elizabeth Forster as her purparty of the said manors. And the said George and Elizabeth, and John and Frideswide, entered upon and were solely seised of their respective allotments in fee. And the said John and Frideswide were similarly seised solely in fee of whatever belonged to the said Frideswide of the said services due for the said manors of Fynchamsted and Colethorp.
The said Frideswide died 5 April last without heir of her body. The said Elizabeth, aged 22 and more, is her sister and heir. Cf. No. 763.
