He died on 13 October, 49 Edward III. Joan his daughter, aged 10 years and more, was his heir, but she died about (citra) the feast of St. Nicholas, 49 Edward III, without heir of her blood. Mary his wife has received the rent since his death, by what title the jurors know not. |

The said rent is held of the lord of Bykedon by service of a pair of white gloves yearly. Adelescote. 2 carucates of land, held jointly with the said Margaret in fee tail, as above, of Fulk Fitz Waryn by service of a sparrowhawk yearly. The extent of Lemyngton includes a house with a small close which serves for holding courts, 4l. 12s. 5d. rent in New Lemyngton and 30s. paid yearly by the burgesses of that town as farm for the tolls thereof, 14l. 6s. 8d. rent of free and bond tenants in Old Lemyngton and rents of salt there worth 14l. 4s. yearly, and a court and a view of frankpledge.

Sottone Courtenay. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. He was seised of the said manor and the manor of Wottesdone, co. Buckingham, in his demesne as of fee, and with the king’s licence gave them to Maud daughter of Thomas de Holand, knight, and the heirs which Hugh son of his son Hugh should beget of her body, with reversion to himself and his heirs, at a yearly rent of 44l. 16s. The said Hugh son of Hugh died without issue by Maud, and after his death the said Maud by her writing indented granted the manors with their appurtenances (except the advowsons of their churches) to the earl and his heirs for the term of her life, at a yearly rent of 200 marks, without the king’s licence. So the earl died in seisin of the manor of Sotton aforesaid.
