GLOUCESTER AND HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. (indented) taken at Ruardyn, 20 May, 6 Richard II.
	The said John died while a minor in the king’s wardship, holding:— Ruardyn. Two-thirds of a watermill, [and] of 26s. 8d. yearly rent, held of the king in chief by service of paying 16s. yearly at the castle of St. Briavels. Bykenore. Two-thirds of a messuage and of a carucate of land. The carucate lies barren in the forest of Dene. Aston Karent. Two-thirds of a watermill, of a toft and of 2 a. land. The last two items are held of Robert Ferrers, lord of Bykenore, by service of a seventh part of a knight’s fee; and Robert in turn holds the manor of Bykenore of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee. Teukesbury. Two-thirds of a messuage and 4 shops, held of the abbot of Teukesbury by service of 4s. yearly. He died on Friday after Michaelmas last. Edward, his brother, aged 15 years and more at Michaelmas last, is his heir. The said Edward was married in his lifetime to Joan daughter of Thomas Maynston, without the king’s licence.

	Writ: 13 August, 6 Richard II
SOMERSET.	Inq. (indented) taken at Yevelchestre, Monday after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 6 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned manor of Wyggebere, in fee tail, to him and the heirs of his body by Isabel, late his wife. He held the under-mentioned messuages etc. in Stratton (estate not specified). He held the under-mentioned manor and advowson of Hunspill jointly with Isabel, his wife, by gift of William de Luscote, John Waskham, Robert de Lukcombe and John de Radyngton, who had the said manor and advowson by his feoffment and gave the same to him and the said Isabel and the heirs male of their bodies with the late king’s licence. The said Isabel is still living and holds the said manor and advowson. Wyggebere. The manor, held of the king in chief by service of rendering 20s. yearly at Michaelmas by the hands of the sheriff in respect of a serjeanty and by service of being usher of the king’s chamber. Stratton in the manor of Southpederton. 2 messuages, 40 a. land, 2 a. meadow and 10s. rent from a messuage and 40 a. land which Thomas Nyter and Andrew atte Niwehall hold in fee, held of Giles Daubene, knight, by service of rendering 8s. and a sore sparrowhawk yearly, and by suit to the court of the said Giles at Southpederton. Long before his death he granted a yearly rent of 26s. 8d. out of the premises in Wyggebere and Stratton to William Whyttok for life, with a clause of distraint. Hunspill. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief as a member of the manor of Baunton, co. Devon. The said manors and the advowson are held by knight’s service by service of half a knight’s fee. He died on Tuesday the feast of St. Mary Magdalen last. John Cogan, aged 6 years and more, is his son and heir.

SOMERSET.	Inq. (indented) taken at Yevelchestre, Monday after St. Katharine, 6 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned messuage etc. in his demesne as of fee. Hunspull. A messuage, 200 a. land, 60 a. meadow and 20 a. pasture called ‘Delhayes,’ held of the king in chief, as parcel of the said manor, by knight’s service. Date of death as above. Elizabeth his daughter, aged 8 years and more, is his heir. John Russel and Andrew Knyth have occupied the premises ever since his death.

DEVON.	Inq. taken at Columton, Monday the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 6 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned manors in his demesne as of fee. Baunton. The manor, including certain lands etc. in Wonham which John Waskham lately held of him for life as parcel of the manor. The said John died before William, so that the lands are in the king’s hand as well as the manor. Ufcolmp. The manor, including 4l. rent which the abbot and convent of Donkeswell are bound to render to the lord of the manor for a common of pasture in the manor of Hakepene and in the small hamlets pertaining thereto. The manor of Ufcolmp is a member of the manor of Baunton; and so he held the manor of Baunton with the manor of Ufcolmp of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee, and nothing by barony. He died on 22 July, 6 Richard II. John Cogan, aged 6 years and more, is his son and heir.

	Ufcolmp. The manor, and the 4l. rent aforesaid, assigned as a third part of the lands etc. of her said husband in the county. She is to pay back to Elizabeth, sister and heir of John Cogan, or to whoever holds the remaining two-thirds of the lands aforesaid, 53s. 4d. yearly.

	Wyggebere. Certain chambers etc. in the manor, a several garden without trees containing 4 1/2 a. pasture, 50 a. arable in the north field and the field called ‘Nutherstratton,’ 6 1/2 a. 2/3 r. meadow in ‘Parkmede’ and ‘Westmede,’ a close of 7 a. land lately held by Robert Pycher, 4s. rent from 2 cottages held at will by Avery Collockes, 2s. rent from a cottage similarly held by John Makemery, 6s. rent paid by Nicholas Powke for a cottage, 3 a. land and 1 r. meadow similarly held by him, 2s. rent from a cottage similarly held by John T … te, 4d. part of Thomas Baily’s rent, and a third part of the pleas etc. of the court. Out of the above she is charged to pay to the sheriff 6s. 8d. yearly towards the 20s. rent of serjeanty due to the king. Stratton. 2 messuages and 7a. land held at will by John Hamelyn, 13 a. land similarly held by the same, 1/3 a. meadow similarly held by the same, and 3s. 4d. and 1/3 lb. cummin of yearly rent from a messuage and 20 a. land held in fee by Andrew atte Nuwehall, with wardships, marriages and other profits when they fall due. Out of the above she is charged to pay 3s. 4d. yearly towards the rent of 8s. and a sparrowhawk (or 2s.) due to Giles Daubene and his heirs.

HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. taken at Penbrok, Monday, 17 November, 6 Richard II.
	She was seised in her demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manors etc. Oggeston, co. Pembroke. The manor (extent given), held as of the inheritance of the barony of La Roche of the heir of John de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, a minor in the king’s wardship, by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. Aylwardeston, co. Pembroke. The manor, held of the said heir by service of 12d. yearly. Kyngesdon, co. Pembroke. The manor, and the lands of Elieslond, held of the said heir by service of 6d. or a sparrowhawk yearly. She died on Friday before St. Matthew last. William de la Roche, her grandfather, late lord of the said manors, had four sisters, Joan, Alice, Margaret and Lucy. Joan was married to David de la Roche of Landecomb, and they begat Robert de la Roche, knight, who begat John de la Roche, knight, who begat Thomas de la Roche, who is kinsman and one of the heirs of the said Margaret. He is 11 years of age and more. Alice was married to Thomas le Erchedekene, knight, of the county of Cornwall, and they begat John le Erchedekene, knight, who begat Warin le Erchedekene, knight, who is kinsman and one of the heirs of the said Margaret. He is 28 years of age and more. Margaret and Lucy, the other sisters, died long ago, and the jurors have no knowledge as to their issue.

HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. (indented) taken at Pembrok, Tuesday, 11 March, 6 Richard II.
	Oggeston. The manor, held as above. Aylwardeston. The manor, held in socage as above. Kyngeston. The manor, and the lands of Eliesdon, held in socage as above. All the above came into the hands of the late king by the death of Mariota de Roch and by reason of the minority of the said Margaret, her daughter and heir, who died while a minor in the present king’s wardship. They are still in the present king’s hand. Date of death as above. Thomas de Roche, aged 11 years and more, Warin le Erchedekene, aged 28 years and more, and Eleanor wife of Robert Verney, aged 45 years and more, are her heirs, namely, Thomas as son of John de la Roch, knight, son of Robert de la Roch, knight, son of Joan de la Roch, one of the sisters of William de la Roch, father of the aforesaid Mariota her mother, Warin as son of John Lerchedekene, son of Alice de Roche, second sister of the said William, and Eleanor as daughter of Lucy de Roch, third sister of the said William. Margaret, William’s fourth sister, died without heir of her body. There are no more heirs of the said Margaret wife of Roger.

	Writ to the chancellor and treasurer of Ireland to enquire what lands in Ireland came into the hands of the late king by the death of the said Mariota and by reason of the minority of the said Margaret, and what other heirs there are of the said Margaret in Ireland. 21 October, 7 Richard II.
IRELAND.	Inq. taken before Ralph de Cheyne, knight, chancellor, and Alexander, bishop of Ossory, treasurer of Ireland, on Friday the feast of St. John before the Latin Gate, 7 Richard II.
	William de Roche, father of the said Mariota, died seised in his demesne as of fee of the following:— Tyllagholargh in Offath, co. Tipperary. The barony, held of James de Ketyng, knight, as of his manor of Dergrath, by knight’s service when scutage runs, which manor is held of James le Botiller, earl of Ormonde, as of his manor of Carricgryffyn, by knight’s service when scutage runs. The earl holds of the king in chief by knight’s service when scutage runs. Since the death of the said William the barony has been unoccupied, because it is wasted by the king’s Irish enemies so that no issues have been receivable therefrom. Thomas de Roche, mentioned in the writ, (fn. 2) had, besides the said Joan, Eleanor and Lucy, another daughter named Margaret, who was married to a certain Simon son of Robert Flemmyng of the county of Cork. They had issue a certain Robert Flemmyng, who married Margaret Staunton and begat of her David Flemmyng and John Flemmyng, who are still living. The said David is one of the heirs of the said Margaret daughter of Mariota. After the death of Simon Flemmyng aforesaid, Margaret, his wife was married to William de Barry of Kylmogho, co. Cork, and they had issue a son named Walter de Barry, who had a son named John de Barry, who is supposed to be still living in England.

YORK.	Inq. (indented) taken ex officio at York, in the castle, Thursday after St. Martin, 46 Edward III.
	Colton Chaumont, Appelton, Merston, Hessay, York and Askham Brian. Tenements as in Vol. XIII, No. 172. He died on Friday before the Assumption, 46 Edward III. Margaret, aged 5 years, and Joan, aged 4 years, daughters of John son of his son John, are his heirs. They are in the custody of the bishop of Durham as wards by reason of lands within the bishopric of Durham, and were so before the death of the said John.

BERKS.	Inq. (fn. 3) taken at Redyng, 17 February, 6 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned moiety, lands and messuage etc. (estate not specified). Fynchehamstede. A moiety of the manor, held of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee and suit to the king’s hundred court of the seven hundreds of Cokham and Bray every three weeks, and by paying to the king 20s. yearly as fixed payment of a view (de certo visus). After the death of John Colney, his father, Thomas de la Mare, knight, occupied the said moiety and received the issues by reason of his minority, by what title the jurors know not. Padeworth. Lands etc. worth 100s. yearly, held of Henry Feteplace by knight’s service, [amount not known]; and [a virgate of land, held of the bishop of Winchester], services not known. Wolhampton. A messuage [and a carucate of land], held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England, services not known. He died on [Tuesday after the Conversion of St.] Paul last. John, his son, aged 6 years [at the Purification last], is his heir.

	He held the under-mentioned land in his demesne as of fee. Great Cressyngham and Foulden. 8 a. arable, held by knight’s service of John de Clifton, knight, son of Constantine de Clifton the son and heir of Adam de Clifton, as of his manor of Hilburworth, while the said John de Clifton was in the late king’s wardship by reason of his minority. SALOP.	Inq. taken at Shrewsbury, Monday the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 6 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned manors of Shauburi, Morton Corbet, Routon, Ambaston and Harpecote to him and the heirs male of his body, with successive remainders to Roger, his brother, who is still living, and the heirs of his body, and to the right heirs of the said Robert (sic). He held the under-mentioned manors of Watelesbourgh, Heye, Bradeshull, Kynwarton, Hemme, Haberle and Stircheley, and township of Hyniton, jointly with Elizabeth, his wife, who is still living, for the term of their lives, by gift of John Roden (?) and Stephen le Eyr, chaplains, and Llewelyn ap Madok [to them and] the heirs of his body, with remainders as above. By a fine levied at Westminster in the quinzaine of Easter, 37 Edward III, between Hugh le Yonge, clerk, and Hugh Parrok, vicar of the church of Shauburi, querents, and Robert de Harleye and Joan, his wife, deforciants, the under-mentioned manors of Yokelton, Shelve and Wentemore and fourth part of the forest of Caus were settled on the said Robert and Joan for life, with successive remainders to Fulk son of Robert Corbet of Morton and the heirs of his body, and to the right heirs of the said Joan. By a concord made by the king’s order at Westminster in the octave of the Purification, 38 Edward III, between the above-mentioned Fulk son of Robert, querent, and Robert de Harleye and Joan, his wife, deforciants, the deforciants surrendered to Fulk their life estate in the said manors and fourth part for a yearly rent of 60l., with provisos for re-entry in the event of the rent being 40 days in arrear or the said Fulk dying in their lifetime. By a fine levied at Westminster in the quinzaine of Midsummer, 44 Edward III, between Peter de Cornewaille, querent, and the above-mentioned Robert and Joan, and Henry Idesburi, vicar of the church of Wondeleworth, deforciants, the manors of Harleye, Gretynton, Willile, Kenle, Yokelton, Shelve and Wentemore were quitclaimed by the deforciants, for themselves and the heirs of Joan, to the said Peter and his heirs, with a clause of warranty. And of such estate the said Fulk died in seisin. Shauburi. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. Morton Corbet. 	Writ de melius inquirendo as to the estate of the said Fulk in the manors of Yokelton; Shelve and Wentenore, and a fourth part of the forest of Caus. 28 October, 6 Richard II.
SALOP.	Inq. taken at Welynton, Saturday after the Epiphany, 6 Richard II.
	He held the said manors and fourth part for life by demise of Robert de Harleye and Joan, his wife, with remainder to Roger Corbet and the heirs male of his body, as appears by the following two fines, to wit (1) a final concord made at Westminster in the octave of the Purification, 38 Edward III (as above), and (2) a fine made at Westminster in the quinzaine of Michaelmas, 41 Edward III, between Roger, son of Robert Corbet of Morton, knight, querent, and the said Robert de Harleye and Joan, deforciants, whereby the deforciants, for themselves and the heirs of Joan, granted that the said manors and fourth part, which the said Fulk held for life by their demise, with reversion to them and the heirs of Joan, should after the death of Fulk remain to the said Roger and the heirs male of his body, with reversion to them (the deforciants) and the heirs of the said Joan.

A carucate of land, with the advowson of the church there, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. He died on Wednesday the morrow of the Epiphany last. John de Dynham, knight, aged 24 years and more, is his son and heir.

A messuage, 60 a. land, 40 a. pasture and a watermill, held of the earl of March by knight’s service; and a messuage and a carucate of arable and 120 a. pasture, held of Edmund FytzHerbard by knight’s service. He died on Thursday after the Assumption last. John Devereux, knight, aged 26 years and more, is his son and heir.

SURREY.	Inq. taken at Suthwerk, Saturday the feast of St. Luke, 6 Richard II.
	He died a minor in the king’s wardship. At the time of his death he held the under-mentioned manor in his demesne as of fee. The manor came into the hands of Edward III by reason of his minority on the death of Thomas, his father, and is still in the king’s hand. Bretynghurst. The manor (extent given), held of the king by knight’s service, to wit, rendering 10s. at the end of every 32 weeks for ward of the castle of Dover, and 12d. yearly to the lord de Say at his manor of Westgrenewich, and 2s. 8 1/2d. yearly to the manor of Dovedale which Robert Littel holds. He died on 17 September last. Agnes wife of John atte Pantrye, daughter of Joan sister of the said Thomas, and Simon Worstede, son of Isabel the other sister of the same Thomas, both aged 24 years and more, are his heirs.

KENT.	Inq. taken at Westgrenewich, Monday the feast of St. Faith, 6 Richard II.
	He died while a minor, holding the under-mentioned land in fee. The land came into the hands of Edward III as above, and is still in the king’s hand. Westgrenewich. 10 a. land in a place called ‘Dredyngherstestrode,’ held of the heir of William de Say, knight, who is in the king’s wardship, as of his manor of Westgrenewich, by service of 12d. rent yearly. Date of death as above. Simon Worstede, as above, and Agnes wife of John atte Pantrye, daughter of Joan Alye sister of the said Thomas, both of full age, to wit, 24 years and more, are his kinsfolk and heirs.

HERTFORD.	Inq. taken at Royston, 6 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned manor and lands in his demesne as of fee, in addition to the lands etc. specified in the inquisition taken after his death. Wedyale. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of half a knight’s fee. Ansty. 100 a. land, held of the earl of Cambridge by service of 10s. yearly. Wedyhale. 60 a. land, held of the heirs of the former Hugh le Despenser by service of 1d. yearly. He died on 18 July, 38 Edward III. John Deschalers, son of Thomas son of Thomas Deschalers, is his kinsman and heir, and was 21 years of age on the feast of the Annunciation last. Richard de Penbregge, knight, was in possession of the premises for 8 years after the death of Thomas by grant of Edward III, who afterwards took them into his hand for certain causes and granted them to John, lord de Nevyle. The said John, and others by his commitment, have had possession and received the issues ever since.

WORCESTER.	Inq. taken at Upton on Severn, Thursday before the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 6 Richard II.
	The under-mentioned manor came into the hands of Edward III by the death of the said John de Dichford (who held of the bishopric of Worcester, which was lately void and in the hands of Edward III, by knight’s service), and by reason of the minority of the said William, and was in the present king’s hand until the death of the said William, who lately died while a minor in the king’s wardship. Dicheford. The manor (extent given), held of the bishopric of Worcester by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. John de Dichford held no other lands etc. in the county. 	He held the under-mentioned moieties, (estate not specified). Staunton Fitz Herberd. A moiety of the manor, held of the king in chief, (service not stated). Corston. A moiety of the manor, held of the earl of Herford, services not known. He died on Friday after St. Chad, 46 Edward III. Fulk his son, aged 21 years and more, is his heir. After his death Edward III by letters patent granted the said moieties to Alice de Perys, to hold until the lawful age of the heir, and Alice accordingly received the issues thereof until the day when she forfeited the said grant. After the said forfeiture the present king granted the moiety of Staunton Fitz Herberd to Fulk Corbet and Philip FitzWaryn at a yearly rent of 100s., and they have received the issues thereof ever since. The moiety of Corston has remained in the king’s hand since the forfeiture.

Cecily late the wife of the said John Frecchevill, the father, held a third part of the manor in dower, and died in the present king’s time, so that the third part is now in the king’s hand.
