The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service, and by the service of rendering to the king by the hands of the sheriff 4l. 40d. yearly on Sunday after the Circumcision for castle-guard of Newcastle upon Tyne and 25s. yearly on the feast of St. Cuthbert in September for cornage.
