Eslyngton. Two-thirds of the manor. The said two-thirds, with the reversion aforesaid, are held of the king in chief by knight’s service and the service of rendering 100s. yearly. The two-thirds used to be worth 10l. yearly before the burning and destruction of the Scots, but now lie waste and untenanted. Whityngham, Thronton and Barton. Two-thirds of moieties of the towns. The said two-thirds and reversion are held of the king in chief by knight’s service and service of a sparrowhawk. The two-thirds used to be worth 10l. yearly &c., as above. He died on Sunday after Easter last. William Hesilrige, his brother, aged 60 years and more, is his heir. |

Houton. One knight’s fee, held of the manor of Swynop by Thomas de Thymelby and John de Thymolby, parson of the church of Nettilton, rendering to the said manor 6s. 8d. yearly at the Circumcision. Belesby. Half a knight’s fee, held by Peter Breton; and he renders to the said manor of Swynop 20s. yearly, which John Nevill of Faldyngworth receives as a yearly rent granted of old to him and his heirs. Walesby. 1 1/2 carucates of land, held by William de Skipwith, son of William de Skipwith, knight, of the manor of Swynop, rendering to the said manor 1 1/2d. yearly on the feast of St. Martin in the Winter. All the tenants attorned to the said feoffees, who continued in seisin all Richard’s life; and the said Richard claimed no estate in the rent and received no profits thereof after the said feoffment.
Wodecote. 43s. 6d. yearly, held of the honor of Leicester, service not known. He died on 14 December last. William Molyns, his son, aged 7 years and more, is his heir in blood. |

Long before his death the deceased gave the under-mentioned manor to John Blake of Loddeford, Richard Foldhay and John Carlill. Richard Watton, knight, and Richard Lyf, who were and are tenants of the manor, never attorned by virtue of the said gift and feoffment, but always remained tenants of the deceased. Afterwards the aforesaid feoffees gave the manor to the deceased and Joan his wife and the heirs and assigns of the deceased. Subsequently William Cogan died, Elizabeth his daughter and heir being a minor; and she is still in the king’s wardship. The deceased died in seisin of the rents and services of the said Richard Watton and Richard Lyf.
Alvyston. The manor, held of William Cogan, knight, as of his manor of Hunespill, by knight’s service; and William held of the king as of the crown. He died on Friday the feast of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 7 Richard II. Guy Seint Aubyn, aged 7 years and more, is his son and heir. |

Estbergholt. 4 messuages, 70 1/2 a. land, 19 a. 3 r. meadow, 52 a. 1 r. pasture and 17s. 3 1/2d. rent, held of the king in chief in socage by service of 20s. yearly to be paid by the hands of the sheriff, which rent is called ‘blauncheferme’. There are also a dovecote and a fishery, held of the king as above. Estbergholt. A moiety of the manor called ‘Eldehalle’ (extent given). The whole manor is held of the earl of Warwyk by service of a pair of gilt spurs, price 6d. The extent includes a leet held on the feast of St. Barnabas and a fulling watermill. Stratford. A messuage, 77 a. land, 7 a. meadow, 5 a. pasture, 14s. 8d. rent of assise and 2 hens at Christmas, and 15 autumn works at the lord’s food. The premises are held of Gilbert de Debynham by service of 3d. yearly. John, son of John de Sutton, knight, aged 50 years and more, is next heir of the said John. Alpheton. With the king’s licence he granted the under-mentioned manors to Hugh Cran, John Berewode, clerk, Thomas Chamberleyn, William Porchas, Robert Palmer, Ellis Savage and John Pakenham, and their heirs; and they, also with the king’s licence, granted the same to him and Joan his wife, who is still living, for life, with reversion to themselves and their heirs. She held the under-mentioned manor (except 1 a. land) as to two-thirds in demesne, and as to one-third in reversion, by a fine levied in the king’s court between her and the said William, querents, and Henry Mulso, Robert de Melton, clerk, Henry de Gedyngton and John de Mikelfeld, deforciants, whereby the deforciants granted the manor (1 a. excepted) to William and Alice and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of William. William Whithoue and Joan his wife hold a third part of the manor as Joan’s dower by endowment of Mauger Vavasour, sometime her husband, and held it at the time of Alice’s death, the reversion belonging to the heirs of William Vavasour, Alice’s husband, because William and Alice died without heir of their bodies.
Wykele. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service; and parcel thereof containing 1 a. wood is held of Nicholas Lovet by service of a sore sparrowhawk or 2s. yearly. 20s. yearly are payable from the manor to John Carnell for life. The jurors (named) say that the said Richard was born at Hulm in Kynderton, and baptised in the church of Middlewich, on the feast of St. James, 37 Edward III, and was 21 years of age on the feast of St. James last. This they know because in the month of May immediately before his birth E. late prince of Wales crossed with his army to Aquitaine; and also because Margery late the wife of Hugh de Venables, mother of the said Richard, to whom the king granted the custody of his lands and his marriage, appeared before the jurors and could not deny that his age was as stated above; and also because, at the county court held at Chester at the Close of Easter, 7 Richard II, on a writ of diem clausit extremum touching the death of Hugh de Venables, enquiry was made as to the age of the said Richard, and it was found that he would be 20 years of age on the feast of St. James then next following.
