She held the under-mentioned manors and advowson for life, the reversion at one time belonging to Elizabeth late the wife of Edward le Despencer, knight, lord of Glammorgan and Morgannogh, daughter and heir of the above-mentioned Bartholomew, but at the time of Margaret’s death to the warden and scholars of the college called Seyntmariecollege of Wynchestre in Oxford and their successors. In the quinzaine of Martinmas, 11 Richard II, a fine was levied between William de Wykeham, bishop of Winchester, master John de Wykeham, clerk, master John Campeden, clerk, Robert Cherlton and Thomas le Warenner of Winchester, querents, and the said Elizabeth deforciant, whereby the reversion of the said manors and advowson was granted by Elizabeth to the querents and their heirs; and by virtue of the said grant the above-mentioned William Burcestre and Margaret attorned to the bishop and the other grantees, the king’s licence for the grant having been obtained. Afterwards the said grantees granted the reversion to the aforesaid warden and scholars and their successors to hold in pure and perpetual alms, and the said William and Margaret attorned to them accordingly.
Sterte and Colerne. The manors and the advowson of the church of Colerne, held of the king in chief, services not known.

Long before his death he granted by deed indented the under-mentioned manor of Appeley, a fourth part of the manor of Preston on Wildemor and messuages etc. in Welyngton, Whapenashale, Kynley, Halghton and Trillewardyn to John atte Wode for life, and to the executors of the said John for a year after the latter’s death. On the day of his death he held the reversion of the premises expectant on the demise of the said John.
Hagurkote. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Aston Eyr. The manor, held of Richard earl of Arundel, service not known.
Aldenham. A messuage and a virgate of land, held of the lord of Aldenham, service not known.

On 22 June, 12 Richard II, the king by letters patent granted and sold the custody of the aforesaid manors of Hagurkote, Aston Eyr and Wythiford, and messuage etc. in Aldenham for 50l. to John de Harleston, clerk, Thomas de Overton, clerk, and John Bonette, to the use of Richard earl of Arundel, to hold from the time of the death of the said Thomas de Cherleton until the lawful age of his heir, together with the marriage of the said heir, and they occupied the same accordingly and took the issues and profits thereof until 15 February, 12 Richard II, on which day they granted and sold the same, to the use of the said earl, to John de Knyghtley the younger, to hold until the lawful age of the said heir. Since then the said John de Knyghtley has occupied the manors etc. and taken the issues and profits thereof.
For a year after the death of the said John atte Wode who died on 20 November, 15 Richard II, his executors occupied the aforesaid manor of Appeley, fourth part of the manor of Preston on Wildemor, and messuages etc. in Welyngton, Whapenashale, Kynley, Halghton and Trillewardyn by virtue of the grant aforesaid. On 8 February, 15 Richard II, the king by letters patent granted and sold the custody of the same for 32 marks to the aforesaid John de Knyghtley the younger, to hold from the end of the said year until the lawful age of the heir of the said Thomas de Cherleton; and he has occupied the same and taken the issues and profits thereof ever since.

Clyware. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church thereof, held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee and 20s. yearly, and by suit to the king’s court of the seven hundreds every three weeks. The extent includes a fishery, 2 water-mills in one house under one roof near the manor, certain free tenants in New Wyndesore, certain customary tenants rendering. 5 1/2d. at ‘Hokkeday’ for works called ‘shipselvyr’ and 12d.
Braye. 3a. 1r. land, held of the queen of England by service of 12d. yearly.
And there is a chapel or oratory in honour of St Leonard within the lordship of the manor aforesaid which before the time of memory was founded by the then lord of the manor and endowed with a messuage, 60a. land, 20a. pasture and 6a. wood called Ermytage for the support of a chaplain to celebrate divine service therein. The said lord by his own right conferred it on a secular chaplain; and since then, as often as it has become vacant, the lords of the manor have been wont to confer it on a chaplain. The said John Cyfrewast, late lord of the said manor of Clyware, as true patron of the chapel, long before his death, to wit, on the feast of St Leonard, 15 Richard II, conferred it, with the above-mentioned messuage etc., on John Wadup, chaplain, who is still living, and the said John Wadup occupied it and was seised thereof accordingly until he was unjustly expelled by a certain John Belyng, chaplain.
