He held the under-mentioned manors of Wadele and Wykyngesham in tail male by letters patent of 16 April, 51 Edward III [Calendar of Patent Rolls 1374-1377, p.259] granting him the said manors (formerly called the manor of Worde) after their reversion on the death without heirs male of Richard de Pembrugge, knight, who had held them by the king’s gift, the said Gilbert surrendering letters patent granting him, as Gilbert Talbot of Richard’s Castle, esquire, an annuity of 40l.
He held the manor of Hanneye as parcel of the manor of Newenton Longeville and of the possessions of the alien priory of St Faith, Longueville, which were granted by letters patent of 30 July, 14 Richard II [Calendar of Patent Rolls 1388-1392, pp.292-3] to the said Gilbert and Joan his wife, formerly wife of Nicholas Tamworth, knight, and their heirs, during the war with France, at farm, and with licence to acquire them under certain conditions and at a farm specified in the patent. He held the under-mentioned manor of Ledecombe Regis and the manors of Offord Clugny, Hunts, and Manton and Tykesore, Rutland, to himself for term of life and to his heirs, executors and assigns for a year after his death, having obtained them by licence of the king by letter patent of 13 January, 20 Richard II [Calendar of Patent Rolls 1396-1399, p.58, cf. Calendar of Patent Rolls 1391-1396, p.48]. He held the other under-mentioned lands jointly with Margaret his wife, to themselves and the heirs of their bodies, by the feoffment of John Spencer, clerk. Wadele and Wykyngesham. The manors. Richard de Pembrugge, knight, held them of Edward III in socage by fealty. Whether the said Gilbert also holds them in socage by fealty is unknown. Hanneye. The manor. Tenure as in the above mentioned patent. Ledecombe Regis. The manor. Tenure as in the above mentioned patent. Hautford. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the manor of Chessebury, late of John Cobham, knight, by service unknown. Newenton by Bokelond. A messuage, 6 cottages and a carucate of land, held of Katharine de Besyles as of the manor of Bokelond, service unknown. He died 6 February last past. Richard Talbot, aged 43 weeks, is the son of the said Gilbert and Margaret and his next heir, and on the day of his death he had no other sons or daughters legitimately born. In his will he appointed the said Margaret, John Pecche, John Lane, John Broun, rector of Stowe, John Spencer, rector of Hautford and William Beton, chaplain, who outlive, his executors. |

But she granted the under-mentioned manors, by charter dated 11 August, 15 Richard II, to William Danby, John Mulsho, Robert de Thame, Stephen Tynwell, parson of West Depyng, now dead, John Hamond, parson of Ownesby and Henry Hamond, chaplain, to themselves, their heirs and assigns, in perpetuity. The said William, John, Robert, Stephen, John and Henry granted to the said Alice the said manors for term of life, with reversion to themselves. Alice died so seised and after her death they entered and took the issues.
Bleseworth. The manor, held of the duke of Lancaster by knight’s service. Mydelton. The manor, with its appurtenances in Mydelton, Colyntre, Preston, Pydyngton, Horton, Hakelton and Quenton, and the advowson of the moiety of the churches of Colyntre and Midelton, held of John Trussell of Gayton, knight, by service unknown. They were seised therein and took the issues until Thursday the feast of SS Fabian and Sebastian, 19 Richard II, when they granted to the said Alice the said manor for term of life at an annual rent of 6 capons with reversion to themselves.
Alice died so seised, and after her death they re-entered and took and yet take the issues. Estdepyngg. The said judgement was annulled in 22 Richard II, and the service arising from the manor descends to Miles, a minor, as son and heir of the said Brian son of Miles Wyndesore, who held it in 11 Richard II. By a fine levied in the king’s court, the king’s licence having been obtained, he was seised jointly with Elizabeth his wife to themselves and the heirs of their bodies of the under-mentioned moiety of the manor of Fiernham, by the gift of Robert de Loteryngton, parson of Gosberkirk, Roger de Gayton, parson of Wath, John Wolde, parson of Claypole, and John Skotilthorp, chaplain, with reversion in case of lack of heirs to the said Robert, Roger, John and John. The said Elizabeth died 17 Richard II and John likewise died without heirs of their bodies.

Elizabeth, daughter of Gilbert de Nevyll, knight, was seised of the under-mentioned manor of Grafton and being so seised married the said John. After, by a fine in the king’s court in the quindene of Easter, 12 Richard II, the king’s licence having been obtained, between the said John and Elizabeth, plaintiffs, and Robert Lotryngton, parson of Gosberkyrke, Roger Gayton, parson of Wath, John Wolde, parson of Claypole, and Peter de Musle, parson of Wilby, defendants, the said manor was granted to the said John and Elizabeth and the heirs of their bodies with remainder for lack of such heirs to the said Robert, Roger, John and Peter. Elizabeth died without heir of their bodies 17 Richard II and John died likewise, after whose death the reversion is to the said Robert, Roger, John and Peter.
