Gilbert Wace, knight, and John Salveyn were formerly seised in their demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manor and advowson of Aldebury, and long before 50 Edward III granted the same to John Baldyngton and Alice his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of Alice. John and Alice were seised accordingly, and had issue a son named William, who is still living. Alice survived the said John, and was seised of the manor and advowson as above when she died.
She was seised of the remaining under-mentioned messuages and lands in her demesne as of fee on the day of her death.
Aldebury. The manor, with the advowson of the church thereof, held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.

He died seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned tenements, quitrents and reversion. By his testament proved, proclaimed and enrolled in the husting of London held on Monday after SS Philip and James, 23 Edward III, he bequeathed the said tenements etc. (except those in Mugwelstrete, which are not mentioned in his testament) to Lucy his wife for life, and then to divers children of his and the heirs of their bodies, and so from heir to heir so long as anyone of his blood should survive, provided that none of them should be allowed to sell, bequeath or otherwise alienate the same; and if all his children and the heirs of his blood should die, then he willed and bequeathed that the tenement in Wodestrete wherein he dwelt should remain for ever to the almonry of St Dunstan of the Goldsmithry of London to provide a chaplain to celebrate daily in the church of St Peter of Wodestrete for his soul and the souls of his father and mother and all the faithful departed under the supervision of the wardens of the said Goldsmithry, and that the other tenements and quitrents mentioned in the testament should be sold by his surviving executors, or by their executors, as is more fully contained in the testament. After his death the said Lucy held the tenement in Wodestrete all her life, and all Simon‘s children died in her lifetime without heirs of their bodies. Long before her death, supposing that none of Simon‘s heirs were surviving, the said Lucy, as Simon‘s executrix, sold to John Coraunt and Robert Launde, goldsmiths of London, all the tenements and quitrents which he bequeathed in his testament to be sold. She died on 3 April, 46 Edward III. Immediately after her death, Nicholas Twyford, John Broun, William Burdeyne and Thomas Paunton, wardens of the said Goldsmithry, supposing that none of Simon‘s heirs were then surviving, entered into the tenement in Wodestrete by virtue of the bequest aforesaid, and held it to the use of the Goldsmithry. Afterwards Thomas Salesbury, goldsmith, recovered by plea all the said tenements and quitrents by virtue of the above bequest, and was seised thereof as heir in fee tail by livery duly made to him. Afterwards he enfeoffed the aforesaid Nicholas Twyford, John Broun, William Burdeyne and Thomas Paunton of all the said tenements and quitrents to the use of the said Goldsmithry, and they held the same and took the issues thereof accordingly, and the present wardens of the Goldsmithry take the issues to the same use.
Parish of St Peter in Wodestrete. A tenement from which 20s. yearly is paid to the hospital of St Bartholomew.
Parish of St Matthew in Fridaystrete. A tenement from which 20s. yearly quitrent is paid to the prior of Christ Church, Canterbury, and 2 lbs wax for the maintenance of two candles burning in the church of St Matthew aforesaid.
Parish of St Pancras in Soperslane. 13s. 4d. quitrent from a shop formerly held by Thomas Everard, and 3s. 4d. quitrent from a shop before le Brodeseld.
Parish of All Hallows in Honylane. 6s. 4d. quitrent from a shop lately held by Adam Karlill, ‘spicer’.
Parish of St Sepulchre without Neugate. 22d. quitrent from a tenement formerly William Skipwith’s.
Parish of St Olave. Two tenements in Mugwelstrete, and the reversion of another tenement which William Bedell, cordwainer, and Joan his wife, held as dower of the said Joan. From the said three tenements 4s. quitrent is paid to the hospital of St Bartholomew and 4s. is payable yearly for the maintenance of a lamp hanging before the high altar in the church of St Olave. The said Joan died about the Annunciation last.
All the above are held of the king in free burgage, as is the whole city of London.
He died in 23 Edward III, day not known. Emma wife of Richard Wymondham, daughter of Thomas S… and Mabel his wife, [?daughter of] the said Thomas Salesbury, is his kinswoman and next heir, and is 30 years of age and more.

He died seised in his demesne as of fee tail of the under-mentioned lands etc. of the inheritance of the said John Vilers and of Katharine wife of Robert Dyggeby of Tylton, the other heir of the said Simon Pakeman, by virtue of a fine levied in the king’s court at Westminster in the quinzaine of Easter, 24 Edward III, between Geoffrey del Peek and Gilbert del Peek of Coventre, querents, and John Prest of Coventre and Isabel his wife, deforciants, whereby those lands etc. were settled on the said John Prest and Isabel for life, with successive remainders to Simon son of Richard le Coupere (named in the writ) and the heirs of his body, and to Simon Pakeman of Kerby and his heirs. John and Isabel died seised of the above lands, and after their death the said Simon Coupere entered by virtue of the fine aforesaid and died seised without heir of his body.
Corley. A messuage with a croft adjacent called Goldilond, a field called Hullefeld, a croft called Burghcroft, a field called Phelipstokkyng with a grove adjacent, 2a. land lying between John Menewode and the highway leading to Coventre in Bunsestokkyng, 1a. land in Brodecrofte, a moiety of a croft called Otecroft, a field called Maisterlond with a wood called Maisterwode adjacent, a wood called Geambewode, a meadow called Horsley with a grove adjacent, and a meadow called Perismede; whereof the meadow called Horsley with the adjacent grove is held of John de Katesby by fealty and service of 2d. yearly, and the remaining lands etc. are held of Richard Chambernon, knight, by service of 22s. yearly.
He died on Thursday before the Invention of the Holy Cross last. John Vilers, aged 13 years and in the king’s wardship by reason of his minority, and Katharine wife of Robert Dyggeby, aged 30 years and more, are co-heirs of the said Simon Pakeman of Kerby.

Edmund and Joan died without heir of their bodies.

The said John died long ago in Eleanor‘s lifetime, leaving issue a certain Joan his daughter and sole heir, who is now 30 years of age and more and married to John Grant.
The said Eleanor held the under-mentioned toft and 40a. land called la Potte in joint feoffment with the said William her husband, by demise of Nicholas Rook, the reversion belonging to William her son by the said William, and the heirs of his body. The said William the son died long ago in her lifetime, leaving issue a certain Joan his daughter and sole heir, who is now 26 years of age and more and married to Richard Alderton.

From the said Michaelmas until 21 July, 13 Richard II, Robert de Tounlay and Henry his brother, occupied the same and took the issues and profits by virtue of the king’s letters patent. Since the said 21 July John de Stanley, knight, Robert de Faryngton, clerk, and master Roger de Faryngton, clerk, have occupied the same by virtue of the king’s letters patent granting the same to them, free of rent, for the life of the said Roger de Fulthorp, and have taken the issues and profits for the sustenance of the said Sybil and the relief of her poor estate.

A certain Andrew Sakevyle, knight, now deceased, who was long ago seised of the under-mentioned manors in his demesne as of fee, granted them to Andrew Sakevyle, knight, his son, for life; and Andrew the son was seised of them as of his free tenement. Afterwards the said Andrew the father granted the reversion of the said manors (inter alia) after the death of Andrew the son to Peter de Hoo, chaplain, late rector of Alfreston, William Halden and Thomas Preston, all now deceased, and John Spycer, chaplain, parson of the church of Hertefelde, late rector of Westgrenstede, who is still living, in fee simple, without any condition; and Andrew the son attorned to the said grantees accordingly. Andrew the son died in his father‘s lifetime, and the grantees entered into the manors; whereupon Andrew the father released and quitclaimed to them, their heirs and assigns, all his right and claim in the manors. Subsequently, after the death of Andrew the father, the grantees by their indented charter granted the manors (inter alia) with the advowsons of the churches thereof to the said Maud (by the name of Maud late the wife of Andrew Sakevyle, knight,) for life, with successive remainders to the right heirs of the body of Andrew the father, and to Thomas Sakevyle of Wythiham, Sussex (by the name of Thomas son of Joan Burgeys) and the heirs of his body; and by virtue of that grant the said Maud was seised of the manors with the advowsons of the churches as of her free tenement, and continued her estate therein until her death.
Bereholte and Bures ad Montem. The manors, with the advowsons of the churches, held of Anne queen of England as of the honor of Eye, by service of a fifth part of a knight’s fee and by service of doing suit every month to the said queen‘s court of the said honor.
She died on 9 June last. Walter de la Pole, knight, aged 22 years and more, is her son and heir.

A certain Andrew Saukevill was seised of the said manor and the advowson of the church thereof in his demesne as of fee, and gave the same to Peter de Hoo, chaplain, parson of the church of Alfricheston, William Halden, Thomas de Preston and John Spicer, chaplain, late parson of the church of Westgrenstede, to hold to them and their heirs under the following conditions, namely, that they should re-enfeoff him thereof, to hold to him and the heirs of his body, with successive remainders to Thomas son of Joan Burgeys, and the heirs of his body, to Alice sister of the said Thomas son of Joan, and the heirs of her body, and to his own right heirs. He died without heir of his body before the re-enfeoffment aforesaid had been made. Afterwards, the said grantees gave and granted the manor and advowson to the said Maud for life, with successive remainders to the said Andrew and the heirs of his body, to the said Thomas son of Joan and the heirs of his body, and to themselves and their heirs; and Maud died seised of such estate therein. Peter de Hoo, William de Halden and Thomas de Preston died; and after their death John Spicere released and quitclaimed all his right and claim in the manor and advowson to the said Thomas son of Joan and his heirs and assigns by a writing enrolled before the justices of the Bench in Easter term, 15 Richard II. Thomas de Saukevill, knight, of the county of Buckingham, as kinsman and right heir of the said Andrew, to wit, son of Robert Saukevill son of Thomas son of Jordan son of Bartholomew brother of William Saukevill father of Jordan father of Andrew father of Andrew father of the said Andrew Saukevill who died without heir of his body, claimed and entered the said manor and advowson as his right after the aforesaid gift and grant to the said Maud.
