Droscumb. 4 ferlings of arable land held of the king in chief, rendering 5s. yearly in serjeanty.
Bromhull. ½ ferling land held of Sir Robert le Deneys by 6s. yearly rent.

Bereford. A messuage and 2 virgates land held of the king in chief by serjeanty of keeping a moiety of the king's forest ef Gravelingges, rendering 9s. yearly at the exchequer by the hand of the sheriff of Wilts, and to the smithy of the church of St. Mary Salisbury 12d. yearly; and 1 virgate land, excepting 9a. which she gave with her daughter in free marriage in the 6th year of King Edward, held of the prioress of Ambresburi, rendering 8s. yearly.
Roger de Camera her son, aged 30 and more, is her next heir.

Routheklif. The manor, held of Sir William de Harddrishil and his heirs, rendering yearly to Sir Thomas de Moleton the chief lord of the fee 2s., and to the said Thomas for cornage 14d.
Kaldebek. 12a. land held of the Lady Alice de Ros rendering 12d. yearly.

(Unspecified). A croft (?) held of John de Orreby, lord of Dronfeud, of the king's ancient demesne, to the value of 8s. 7d., by service of rendering 8d. to the said John.

Northumberland. Inq. Sunday before St. Gregory, 12 Edw. I.
Framlington. A messuage and 120a. land held of the gift of John de Esselington his father, who held them of Roger Bertram, rendering 1d. yearly; and immediately after the death of the said Alan, the said John his father seized all the said land into his own hand, and held it as wardship by reason of the said Alan's heir, who was under age, and died seised thereof as of wardship ; and after the death of the said John, who held the manor of Esselington of the king in chief, the subescheator seized all his lands into the king's hand, and the said messuage and land with them, where they have remained ever since.

Pyrhull. The bailiwick of the hundred held of the king in chief by homage and service, worth 30 marks yearly, whereof he paid 6½ marks to the king.
Geoffrey his son, who is not of full age before the Nativity of St. John the Baptist next, is his next heir.

Chester. Inq. Thursday after St. Giles, 11 Edw. I.
Betherton. 2 carucates land in demesne, and 8d. rent, held of Nicholas de Aldelee by doing guard (custodiam) by three footmen in time of war at the said Nicholas's castle of Newhall (Nova aula), feeding one bedel once in six weeks, and doing suit at his hundred (court) of Nantwich (Wyco Malb') and his halmote there.
Weston. 1 carucate land in demesne, and 6 marks 5s. 4½d. rent, held of the said Nicholas, by service of two parts of 1 knight's fee, and rendering 6d. and two pairs of gloves yearly.
Cherlton. 2s. rent held of the said Nicholas in chief, rendering 2s. yearly.
Nantwich. 4 marks rent.
Batington. 10s. rent. Both held of the said Nicholas by feeding one bedel once in six weeks.

Writ of certiorari, whether Albreda, grandmother of Geoffrey son of Geoffrey Griffyn who held of the king, and which Albreda holds a third part of the manor of Clayton near Newcastle under Lyme, which was sometime of Bertrand Griffyn her husband, and which the prior of Trentham recovered against Griffyn son of the said Bertrand, holds anything there or elsewhere which ought to descend to Geoffrey, son and heir of the last Geoffrey Griffyn, and ought to be held of the king, 14 Dec. 12 Edw. I.
Stafford. Inq. Thursday before St. Matthias (Math') the Apostle, 12 Edw. I.
Clayton near Newcastle under Lime. A third part of the manor is held by the said Albreda in dower, but not of the king in chief; and a third part of the bailiwick of the hundred of Pirhull in dower, rendering 28s. 10½d. to the king; which ought to descend by hereditary right to Geoffrey son of Geoffrey Griffyn.

Clayton &c. (as above). A third part ought to be held by the said Albreda in dower of Sir Peter de Arderne in chief, pertaining to the manor of Knutton ; and a third part of the bailiwick of the hundred of Pyrhull, is held of the king in chief in dower; and both ought to descend to the said Geoffrey.

Buckingham. Inq. Sunday after the Ascension, 11 Edw. I.
Midelton Keynnes. The manor held of the king in chief by serjeanty, viz.—finding one horseman with an unbarded horse, a lance, hauberk, haqueton and iron cap for forty days in the king's army at his own expense.
Nicholas his son, aged 21 on the day of St. Nicholas last, is his next heir.
With memorandum :—Let nothing be done by this inquisition, because it has been found by a chirograph made in the king's court that the said John's wife ought to hold the said manor for life, and so seisin has been given to her by the king.

Little Welemondele. A messuage, 89a. arable, and 5s. 7d. rent of assize, held of the countess of Albemarle by service of 1 knight's fee.
(Unspecified.) A watermill held of Dervergulla de Balliolo by service of a pair of gilt spurs or 6d. yearly ; and 30a. land held of Alexander de Balliolo by service of 4d. yearly.

Newmarket. 69s. rent of assize of freemen, a market worth with perquisites of court 100s. yearly, a windmill, and the advowson of a chapel situate in the town on the Suffolk side. All held in free socage of Robert de Insula.
Berton. A messuage and 120a. land with other their appurtenances, were delivered by the said Giles to Reginald de Argenthoin his firstborn son in 9 Edw. I, rendering to the said Giles 8 marks yearly so long as he should live, and to the abbot &c. of St. Edmund, of whom the said tenement is held in chief, 9s. ½d., and 21 quarters of oats.
