	Totenham. A messuage &c., 100a. land, 22a. meadow, 10a. pasture, 100a. wood, 47s. 4 1/2d. rent of free tenants whereof 4s. 4d. yearly ought to be paid to John de Britannia, 62s. 6d. rent of bondmen, a third part of a water-mill, pleas &c. of court with a view of frank pledge, 6s. 8d. aid of customers, pannage called ‘gershase,’ and works of cottars, molmen &c. held of the king in chief, service unknown. 	Caldecote. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief, of the honour of Huntingdon now in the king’s hand, by 1/3 knight’s fee. Huntingdon. 56s. 8d. yearly of the farm of the borough by the gift of the progenitors of the kings of England. Robert de Brus, earl of Carryk, his son, aged 22 and more, is his next heir.

	Hatfeld with Broneshobery. The manor (full extent given), including a park of 100a., a market let to farm for 13s. 4d., the half hundred of Herlawe which Thomas Aufre holds at fee farm for 4l. yearly, free socmen rendering 16l. 4s. 11 3/4d. yearly and works &c. held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee. HEREFORD AND SALOP.	Inq. Sunday the morrow of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 32 Edw. I.
	Richard’s Castle. The castle and town (extent given), including 103 burgages, 300a. arable whereof 100a. are in Salop and the residue in Hereford, 26 1/2a. meadow whereof 2a. are in Salop and the residue in Hereford, and a park and certain other woods whereof a moiety is in Salop and a moiety in Hereford; with the following adjacent hamlets in co. Salop:—
SALOP.	Bachecote. The hamlet (extent given with names of free tenants). More. The hamlet (similar extent given). Overton. Rents (similar extent given). Whytebrok. Rents (similar extent given). 	Stepelton. The castle and manor (extent given), including a wood, a pasture whereof a moiety is in co. Hereford, 34 burgages in Stepelton and in the hamlet of Froggestrete, and 10l. pleas &c. of court, with the following hamlets:—
SALOP.	Wylyleye. 48 Welshmen who render 105s. 3 3/4d. for all things save suits at the court of Stepelton every three weeks.
HEREFORD.	Atcroft. 57s. 2d. rents (extent given with names of free tenants). Wapelith. 47s. 5 1/4d. rents (similar extent given). Coumbe. 5s. 6d. rents (similar extent given). Tyteleye. 15s. 3d. rents (similar extent given). Rode. 29s. 7 1/2d. rents (similar extent given). Cascop. 4s. 3d. rent from certain Welshmen. All held of the king in chief as a member of the barony of Boreford.
SALOP.	Wylyleye. A messuage and a carucate of land in the hamlet, whereof the said Hugh and Maud his wife were jointly enfeoffed by one Ardudeuel, who was the wife of Llewelyn ap ….., to hold to them and their heirs of the lords of the castle of Stepelton, and they thus continued their seisin until the said Hugh’s death. Heirs as above.
WORCESTER.	Inq. Wednesday after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 32 Edw. I.
	Wychebaud [alias Wycheland (sic)]. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief as a member of Bureford, and Bureford is held of the king by barony. Heirs as above. Codderugg. The manor (extent given) held jointly with Maud his wife of the king in chief as a member of Bureford. Worcester. 13s. 8d. rent of 10 free tenants held jointly of the bishop of Worcester by service of 1/5 knight’s fee; which rent pertains to the manor of Codderug. Houleston. The hamlet (extent given) which is a member of Coderugg, held jointly as above of the bishop of Worcester by service of 1/5 knight’s fee, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Hugh by the enfeoffment of William, bishop of Bath and Wells, by fine levied in the king’s court.
WALES; COLOMPNUS DE BLETHEVAGH.	Inq. made at Stepelton on Tuesday after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 32 Edw. I.
	Blethevagh. The site of the ancient castle, the town, and Colompnum (extent given), held of the king in chief as member of the barony of Boreford. Heirs as above.
SALOP.	Inq. made at Richard’s Castle on Sunday the morrow of the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, 32 Edw. I.
	Borevord. The manor, whereof the said Hugh and Maud were jointly enfeoffed by William de la March, bishop of Bath and Wells, with the king’s licence, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Hugh, held of the king in chief by barony by service of 2 1/2 knights’ fees; and they thus continued their seisin until the said Hugh’s death. Heir as above.
NORTHAMPTON.	Inq. 12 Sept., 32 Edw. I.
	Norton by Daventre. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants) acquired jointly by the said Hugh and Maud of the gift &c. of William sometime bishop of Bath and Wells, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Hugh, and held of Sir Guy de Bello Campo, earl of Warwick, by service of 1 1/2 knight’s fee. His daughters, Joan aged 15, and Margaret aged 10, are his next heirs.
ESSEX.	Inq. taken at Wyham on Thursday before the Nativity of the Blessed Mary, 32 Edw. I.
	Hobregg. The manor (extent given) held jointly with Maud his wife of the heirs of Giles de Plays, in the king’s wardship by reason of minority, by service of 1/4 knight’s fee, by the enfeoffment of Sir William formerly bishop of Bath and Wells to them and the said Hugh’s heirs. Heirs as last above.
SOUTHAMPTON.	Inq. 14 Sept., 32 Edw. I.
	Farlegh. Four years ago, in 28 Edw. I the said Hugh gave the manor to Sir John de Drokenesford for his life, but whether he has the fee thereof, or not, is unknown to the jury. He held nothing of the king in chief in the county.
DEVON.	Inq. 4 Sept., 32 Edw. I.
	King’s Nyminton. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by socage: the said Hugh thereof enfeoffed William de la March, bishop of Bath and Wells, who enfeoffed the said Hugh, Maud his wife and their heirs. Heirs as above, Joan aged 12 and Margaret aged 9.
	Extent or summary of the above lands &c. in Hereford, Salop, Worcester and Wales, with the variation there given within square brackets.
	Schedule of a third part of the same. Schedule of another third of the same. Schedule of a further third of the same viz. the dower of Maud late the wife of the said Hugh.
	Writ to William de Mortuo Mari, Philip Appehowell and Nicholas de W[edergrave] commanding them in the presence of Thomas de Bykenore, who has married Joan elder daughter and one of the heirs of the Hugh de Mortuo Mari, and of Walter bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, to whom Queen Margaret, to whom the king assigned the same, has granted the wardship of a moiety of the lands &c. with the marriage of Margaret the younger daughter, to extend the manors of Richard’s Castle and Stepelton, cos. Salop and Hereford, and having divided them into two equal parts, to assign to the said Thomas and Joan their pourparty, 27 June, 33 Edw. III.

	Okeborun. A tenement, which he held at one time, but demised long before his death to Alexander de Okeborun, clerk, for life, rendering 10 marks yearly to himself and his heirs; it is held of Sir Henry Tyeys by knight’s service. John his son, aged 30, is his next heir.
DORSET.	Inq. made at Dorcestre, 22 April, 32 Edw. I.
	Langeton. The manor (full extent given with names of free tenants) held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee. Stocke Kuylard. A capital messuage &c. 80a. arable, 5a. meadow, a several pasture, a free tenant and a cottar, and pleas &c. of court, held in chief of John Mautravers by service of 1/2 knight’s fee. Heir as above, aged 30 and more.
DORSET AND WILTS.	Assignment of dower to Alice late the wife of the said Ingelram, made at Langeton, 26 June, 32 Edw. I viz.—
DORSET.	The whole of the above tenement of Stoke Coilard, and other lands &c. [in Langeton?] (full extent given with names of cultures, fields &c. and of tenants), including third parts of the meadows of Ruston by Frome, Swanewych, and Aylethewode, pastures including pasture of the hill of Aylethewode, parts of the woods of Wilcheswode, and a third part of a quarry of marble and freestone: the chapel of St. Leonard is also mentioned.

	Preston. A messuage called ‘la Twyere,’ 30a. arable, 8a. meadow, and a pasture called ‘le Poller’ containing 60a., held of the king in chief, as of the honour of Albemarle now in the king’s hand, by service of rendering 12d. yearly at the castle of Skipse; 2a. pasture in ‘le Poller’ held of the king, as of the honour aforesaid, rendering 2s. yearly at the manor of Brustwyk; 1 bovate of land held of Nicholas Haukyn by service of 1/2d. yearly; 6a. land, 2 1/2a. meadow and pasture for 2 oxen, held of John son of Warner by service of a clove gillyflower yearly; and a plot of arable land held of the parish church of All Saints, Preston, by service of rendering 6d. yearly for the light of the Blessed Mary in that church. GLOUCESTER.	Inq. 7 May, 32 Edw. I.
	La Kyngeshame. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants), including pastures called ‘le Stath’ and Kyngeshamegrene, running for a foal (proficuum … ad cursum unius pull’) in the meadow of Walhame, divers cottages held by the abbot of St. Peter’s, Gloucester, rendering 8s. yearly, a hide (unum correum) at the feast of St. Andrew, price 6d., maintenance (liberacionem) of one monk for 15 days yearly, worth 2s., and ‘saltselver’, held of the king in chief by service of keeping the door of the king’s spence (hostium dispense) at his coronation, of ancient tenure; 34 1/2a. arable and 11 1/2a. meadow, held of the king in chief by socage, rendering 5s. rent at the king’s Barton by Gloucester; and 5 1/2a. land and pleas &c. of court, similarly held rendering 22 1/2d. And the said John and all his tenants ought to come twice a year to ‘la lauwedaye’ at the king’s Barton. And the said John mortgaged to Master William de Appurleie 7a. meadow and 20a. arable, which are not contained in this extent but are held of the king by the socage abovesaid, to hold until the feast of St. Michael, 32 Edw. I, for 40 marks, and if the said John or his heirs shall not acquit the same, the meadow and land shall then remain to the said William and his heirs for ever. John his son, aged 11 at the Gule of Autumn (sic) last, is his next heir. He held no other lands &c. in the bailiwick.
SOUTHAMPTON.	Inq. 28 May, 32 Edw. I.
	Henton. 275a. land and 9l. 16s. 5d. rent of free tenants (extent given with names of tenants), held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee; and a tenement, 42a. arable, a hall, a grange, an oxhouse, and 4 1/2a. underwood, held of the earl of Arondell by service of 6 arrows (fleches). Heir as above (aged) 12.
	Writ to the escheator to take into the king’s hand and extend without delay the 20a. land and 7a. meadow in ‘la Kyngesham’ which the said John demised to Master William de Apperleye as abovesaid, 1 June, 32 Edw. I.
GLOUCESTER.	Inq. made at Gloucester, 28 June, 32 Edw. I.
	The said land and meadow are worth 20s. 8d. yearly.

LINCOLN.	Inq. 5 Feb., 32 Edw. I.
	Langeton. The site of a messuage not built, 110a. arable, 8a. meadow, a several pasture, 16a. woodland, 2 free tenants holding 2 tofts, 4 free tenants in Horncastre and 2 free tenants in Thimbleby pertaining to the tenements of Langeton, and a free tenant of Thornton holding 1 selion in Langeton, all doing one appearance at the court of Langeton yearly, held of the king in chief as of the barony of Bayeux by service of 1/2 knight’s fee and by suit at the court of Bayeux at Lincoln every six weeks; and the said Robert rendered 5s. yearly for sheriff’s aid and view of frank pledge, 50s. yearly to Sir John de Bek and his heirs, and 1d. at the castle of Tateshal, for the said tenements.
LINCOLN.	Inq. 10 Feb., 32 Edw. I.
	Rowelle. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief as of the barony of Bayeux, now in the king’s hand, by service of 1 1/2 knight’s fee, doing suit at the court of the barony in Lincoln every six weeks. Castre. 11 1/2a. meadow within the soke, and the service of a tenant there who renders 6d. yearly, held of the king in chief, as of that soke, now in the king’s hand, by service of rendering 5s. yearly to the bailiffs of that soke for 5a. Clee. A bovate of land, 1a. meadow, and 6 free tenants who render 8s. yearly, held of the king in chief rendering 10s. 2d. yearly to the mayor and bailiffs of Grimesby for the farm they render to the king; which tenements are in the hands of Peter de Houton by the said Robert’s demise for a term of ten years. Cokewald. Six free tenants held of the king in chief as of the barony aforesaid, whereof two render 15d. yearly, the third a rose, and the three remaining 2s. yearly for foreign service. All the above are the king’s escheat by the felony of John son and heir of the said Robert, who was outlawed in the full county (court) of Lincoln on Monday before Christmas day in this year. Rowelle. Two tofts not built and 6 bovates of land containing 120a., held of the abbot of Neuhuse by service of 4s. yearly. Castre. 15a. land held of Thomas Prodemay of Castre by service of 1d. yearly. Ireby. 70a. arable, 2 free tenants rendering 7s. yearly, and a customer holding 1/2 bovate of land, held of Ralph Malet by service of 1d. yearly; and a toft, 20a. land and 1 1/2a. meadow, held of Emma de Haia by service of 1d. yearly. Belesby. 40a. land and 1a. meadow, held of John de Yerdeburgh by service of 1lb. cummin; and 20a. land and 1/2a. meadow, held of Thomas de Blakenham by service of 10s. 2 1/4d. yearly. Clee. 60a. land, 12a. meadow, and 5 free tenants, held of John de Yerdeburgh and Ralph Skirbek his parcener by service of 14s. yearly; and the said Robert paid 24s. (yearly) for those tenements to Joan late the wife of Nicholas de …. lby … as dower, and they are in the hands of Peter de Houton by his demise, for a term of ten years; and 1/4 bovate of land held of John Hervy by service of 10d. yearly, which is in the hands of Peter de Houton by the said Robert’s demise for a term of ten years.

	Welewe. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants), including a wood called the park of Farlegh, ‘ferthendells’ of land and ‘ferdells’ of land, and the hundred of Welewe, held of the earl of Gloucester in chief by service of 2 knights’ fees; Nicholas de Monte Forti his father carried the rod before the king’s justices in the eyre of Somerset, and claimed to have all the liberties pertaining to the said hundred, and his predecessors have had them from time immemorial; and the bailiff of the said hundred …… Somerset for carrying out (ad exequend) the king’s executions. Pegelinch. A capital messuage &c. 300a. arable, 4 1/2a. meadow, a several pasture and common pasture, and rents of free tenants, ‘ferdellarii’ &c. and pleas &c. of court, held of the earl of Gloucester by the service aforesaid. Radestoke. A garden, 50a. arable, 7a. meadow, a several pasture, common pasture, and rents of free tenants and ‘ferdillarii,’ similarly held. Reginald his son, aged 12, is his next heir.
SOMERSET.	Inq. made at Welewe, 5 June, 33 Edw. I.
	Wodebergh. Two parts of the hamlet (extent given), including a capital messuage, held of the heirs of John Giffard by service of two parts of 1/4 knight’s fee. Welewe. The manor with the hamlets of Pegelyngch and Radestok, together with the hundred of Welewe, held of the earl of Gloucester by service of 2 knights’ fees. Heir as above, aged 13.

ESSEX.	Inq. 6 Feb., 32 Edw. I (faded).
	West Tillebery. The manor, and certain tenements by Tillebery, Chiltyndich and Elteneye which are members of Tillebery (full extent given with names of tenants), including a ferry over the water let to farm for 6s. 8d. yearly, profits of a market and fair, and 30a. land and 10a. marsh held by the prior of Bisschoppesgate who renders 16s. yearly and 3d. for ‘wardpanes,’, held of the king in chief, of the honour of Reylegh, by service of 2 1/4 knights’ fees. John his son, aged 8 at the feast of the Purification, 32 Edw. I, is his next heir.
ESSEX.	Inq. made at Malden on Sunday after St. Valentine, 32 Edw. I.
	Westnewelond. A capital messuage, 140a. land, and 7 free tenants (named), held of the prior of Christchurch, Canterbury, by service of 20s. 1/4d. yearly; and 30a. arable and 3 free tenants (named), held of the prior of Thetford [alias Tifford] by service of 13s. 4d. Corseth [alias Orsete]. 160a. land and 3 free tenants (named), held of Hugh de Nevill, lord of Totham, by service of a knight’s fee. Heir as above, aged 8 at the feast of the Purification last.

	Endorsed.—The marriage of Joan, late the wife of the said William, was granted to John Polgreyn for the remission of 25l. 10s. wherein the king was bound to him by his letters patent for his wages for the time he was in the king’s service in Gascony.
ESSEX.	Petition from the priors of Canterbury (Cauntwarburys) and Thetford (Theford) and Hugh (Huwe, Howe) de Neville, to have the wardship of the lands held of them by the said William, who held nothing of the crown in chief. (French, undated.) Endorsed.—Let them sue in the chancery to cause the inquisition to come before the council.
	Writ of certiorari to the escheator to enquire whether the said William held anything of the king in chief as of the crown or not, 30 March, 33 Edw. I.
