Bilneye. The manor (full extent given with names of free and customary tenants), including John, vicar of the church of Narburgh, a free tenant, and 11 3/4d. rent for ‘castelwarde’ of Dover (Doure); and there are due thence 5s. (yearly) for the castle of Dover, and 3s. to Sir Hugh Bardouf.
Bodeneye. The manor (similar full extent given); and there are due thence 5s. (yearly) for the castle of Dover, 12d. to Sir William de Boyton, and 1d. to Philip Wace.
Both held jointly with Sarra his wife of the king in chief as of the crown by service of a knight’s fee.
Tudenham Falgate. The manor (similar full extent given), including the fishery of Kerwen and Witteforde, held of Roger de Huntyngfeld by service of 20s. yearly.
Nelond. The manor (similar full extent given) held of John de Thorp by service of 1/2 knight’s fee, and there are due thence to him 2d. yearly for ‘waytefe.’
Thomas his son, aged 28 and more, is his next heir.
Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Sarra late the wife of the said Richard that the escheator had taken into the king’s hand the manors of Bilneye and Bodeneye whereof she was enfeoffed jointly with the said Richard, 22 Dec. 29 Edw. I.

Tibethorpe. The town (full extent given with names of tenants) held, of the inheritance of Laderana sometime his wife by the courtesy of England, of Sir William de Ros of Helmesle by free service of 2 sparrowhawks (nisorum) yearly.
Estbrunne. 4 1/2 bovates of land held by 2 tenants (named), held of the king of the barony of Brunne, service unspecified.
Suthbrunne. 14 bovates of land (tenants names given) held, of the inheritance aforesaid, of the king of the barony aforesaid, service unspecified.
Nicholas, son of Isabel daughter of the said John and Ladrana and sometime the wife of Miles de Stapelton, deceased, aged 15 and more, and Joan another daughter of the said John and Ladrana, aged 24 and more, are their next heirs.
[YORK.] Inq. Tuesday the eve of St. Luke, 29 Edw. I.
Thorp Arches. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants), including a park, ‘heckes’ for taking fish in the Wherf in the pond of the fulling mill, 4 tofts and 5 bovates of land held by Alan de Folyfayt and Helen his wife, and Isabel, Agnes and Margaret her sisters, by service of 1/28 knight’s fee and rendering 13s. 4d., and lands, rents &c. (extent given) in Walton, which is a member of Thorp Arches, held, of the inheritance abovesaid, of John, son and heir of Roger de Moubray, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by knight’s service.
Neuton in The Wylghes. The manor held by Simon de Kyme of the manor of Thorp Arches by knight’s service, and his tenants there ought to do ploughing for the lord of Thorp Arches, with 7 ploughs for 1 day at the winter sowing, and 18 works in autumn, but the costs of the manor exceed the value of the works.
Nicholas, son of Sibyl daughter of the said Laderana and sometime the wife of Miles de Stapelton, aged 15, and Joan another daughter, the wife of Aucher son of Henry, aged 24 and more, are next heirs of the said John and Laderana.

Carleton manor. Certain lands and tenements (full extent given with names of tenants), including 75a. arable in Northker, 60a. meadow in Westmersch and 15a. pasture in ‘le Merchs,’ and a ferry over the Ayre, the lord of Carleton maintaining the boat, held, of the inheritance of the abovesaid Laderana, of the king by service ……..

Wyvelesthorp, Tocwyth and Hoton. 7 carucates and 2 bovates of land, held by Robert de Pontefracto by service of 1/2 knight’s fee; whereof he holds 3 carucates in Wyvelesthorp in demesne, and John de Creppingge and Robert de Clerevaus hold 3 carucates of him in Hoton, William de Bugthorp holds 1/2 carucate in Tocwyth, the prior of Park holds 2 bovates of him in Tocwyth in frank almoin, and the prioress of Synithwayt holds of him 1/2 carucate in frank almoin; and 1 carucate and 2 bovates of land in Tocwyth held by John de Kirkeby by service of 1/13 knight’s fee.
Rughford [and Merston]. 6 1/2 carucates of land held by William de Bugthorp by service of 1/2 knight’s fee; whereof he holds 4 carucates in demesne, and in Merston the heir of William son of Henry holds 1 carucate and 2 bovates, Everard Prodom holds 1/2 carucate, and Henry son of the said Everard holds 6 bovates.
Coupmanthorp. 3 carucates of land held by Richard de Malebys by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.
Merston. 9 carucates of land held by the heir of William son of Thomas by service of 1/2 knight’s fee; whereof he holds 6 carucates in demesne, and of the residue of 6 (sic) carucates the abbot of Fountains holds 1 carucate in frank almoin.

Allerton, Clareton, Lynlandes, Dunseford, Little Useburn, Hoperton, Horseford and Raudon. 14 carucates of land held by John Mauleverer by service of 1 1/6 knight’s fee; whereof he holds 7 carucates in demesne; Richard le Walays holds of him 3 1/2 carucates in Dunsford; in Hoperton Robert the chaplain holds 4 bovates, John Skot holds 2 bovates, Robert son of Nicholas de Hoperton holds a messuage and 2a., Geoffrey le Normand holds a messuage, Richard de Hoperton holds a messuage, Henry Morel holds 2 bovates, and Thomas de Botlesford holds 2 bovates; Thomas de Horsford holds 1 carucate in Horsford, and 1 carucate in Raudon; and Richard le Walays holds 2 bovates in Little Useburn.
He had no advowson of a church of the inheritance aforesaid.

Bordelby, Herlsay, Sythil and Salcock. 6 carucates of land held by Robert de Furneaus and Maud his wife, of the said John &c. by service of 1/2 knight’s fee; whereof they hold in demesne 2 carucates in Bordelby and 1/2 carucate in Herlsay; the prior of Gysburn holds of them 2 carucates in Herlsay; Michael de Upsale holds of them 1/2 carucate in Herlsay (and) Sithill; and Thomas de Salcock holds of them 1 carucate in Salcock.
He had no advowson of a church of the inheritance aforesaid.

Schedule of the part of the heir who is under age.
Schedule of the part of Aucher son of Henry; this part exceeds the other in number of fees by 1/6 and 1/13 fee, but is of less value in money by 40s.
Petition to the chancellor from Miles de Stapelton, father of Nicholas de Stapelton, complaining that the knights’ fees &c. assigned to Aucher son of Henry are worth double or more those assigned to the infant, who is in the king’s wardship, and praying for redress. (French, undated.)
Writ to the escheator, the king being given to understand that the knights’ fees which were of John de Bella Aqua by the courtesy of England are not well extended, that certain fees &c. are not extended, and that there is error in the partition, commands him to cause the same to be extended (again) &c. and to warn the abovesaid Aucher to be in the chancery on the morrow of the Ascension next; 23 April, 31 Edw. I.
Reply by the escheator (?) that he has enquired by the king’s writ otherwise directed to him concerning the knights’ fees, &c. ……. and knows not what further there is to be enquired into. Let the defects be signified to him. ……. Nevertheless he has warned the said Aucher…… (undated fragment).
Partition of the knights’ fees which were of the inheritance of the said Laderana. Of this partition let Aucher choose which part he will, and if this partition does not please him, let him make division of the fees and let Miles choose.
