DERBY. Inq. Friday after St. Hilary, 17 Edward II.
Sudbyry. A messuage and a carucate of land, held for life, by the demise of Walter de Monte Gomeri to the said William his son, rendering a rose yearly, with reversion to the said Walter, of the king as of the honour of Tutteburi now in the king’s hand, as parcel of the manor of Sudbyry which is held of the king as of the said honour by service of a knight’s fee; which manor of Sudbyry the said Walter sometime granted, together with the manor of Marchynton and the advowsons of the churches of Sudbyry and Cobbeleye, to the said William and his heirs for ever, who afterwards reenfeoffed the said Walter thereof for life, who still survives, rendering two roses yearly; with reversion to the said William and his heirs.
Cobbeleye. Two tofts, 100a. arable, and 6l. 14s. 4d. rent, held by purchase to the said William and the heirs of his body, of the said Walter and his heirs, rendering a barbed arrow yearly, saving to him and his heirs the autumnal works of customers, and the king’s foreign service.
Walter his son, aged 10 at the feast of Easter last, is his next heir.

Masseworth. 10 marks rent from a manor which long before his death he demised to Ralph le Mareschal and Clarissa his wife for life, with reversion to the said Paulinus and his heirs; which manor is held of the king in chief as of the honour of Walingeford by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.
Todindon. Four cottages, 39a. land and meadow, and 8s. rent from a cottage &c., and 8s. rent from a burgage in the town of Buckingham, held of John de Brehuse by service of 2d.
Lavenden. The manor, held jointly by the said Paulinus and Elizabeth his wife, by fine levied in the king’s court, of Thomas Wake as of the fee of Brunne by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.
Weston. The manor, similarly held by the same fine, by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.
Chilton. The manor, held jointly as above by fine levied in the king’s court, of the king as of the honour of Gloucester, as of the pourparty of Hugh Daudelee, by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Great Wolston. The advowson of the church similarly held by the same fine.
Great Wolston. The manor, held for life by Robert Durival, by the demise of John, father of the said Paulinus, the reversion whereof is to Nicholas son and heir of the said Paulinus, of the earl of Oxford by service of a pair of gilt spurs or 6d.
Wavindon. The manor, held in dower by Mary de Sancto Amando, after the death of John Peeyver late her husband, father of the said Paulinus, the reversion whereof is to the said Nicholas, of the king in chief as of the fee of Langelegh, service unknown.
Totenho manor. The said Mary received 40s. rent from the manor, which is of Coletta de Jarpenvile, and is held of William de Cantilupo, service unknown, and the reversion is to the said Nicholas.
Nicholas his son, aged 5 1/2, is his true heir.
Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of Elizabeth, late the wife of the said Paulinus, that the escheator had taken into the king’s hand, certain lands &c., in Totingedon, of which she was enfeoffed jointly with her husband, 5 October, 19 Edward II.

Totyngedon. The said Elizabeth was enfeoffed jointly with the said Paulinus, to hold to them and their heirs, of a messuage and 4a. land by Thomas atte Lanehende, and of a messuage and 2a. meadow by Robert son of John, and the same are held of Mary de Sancto Amando in chief by service of 2s. yearly.

La Kerseneye. 35a. arable held of the heirs of Sir John de Northwode by service of 20d. to the castle of Dover for thirty-two weeks.
She died on Sunday before St. Hilary last. Maud her daughter, aged 40 and more, is her next heir.

Dufton. The manor [alias two parts of the manor] (extent given, whereof the capital messuage is burned by the Scots), including woods called Aykestoth and Flastoth, and 12d. yearly rent for a water course to the mill of Knok, held of the king in chief, by the forfeiture of Roger de Clyfford, of whom the manor was held by service of rendering 25s. 6d. yearly at the castle of Appleby for cornage; whereof Elizabeth, mother of the said Ralph is dowered of a third part, and Roger de Bilnay has a rent of 100s. for life of the gift of John de Craystok, sometime lord of the manor.

Hylderskelf. The manor (extent given with names of tenants), held of John le Bygot by service of 1/3 knight’s fee.
Galmethorp. Five messuages, 17 bovates of land, and 4 tofts &c. (extent given with names of tenants), held of Ranulph de Nevill by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
The abovesaid manor and lands are charged to Sir Thomas de Boulton, knight, for life, by the deed of the said Ralph, in 20 marks, two robes, one with fur (pellur’) and the other with linen (linura), and a saddle fitting the state of a knight, yearly; and the manor is charged to Hugh de le Despens of Hilderskelf, with the keeping of all the woods and the warren of Hilderskelf, and a yearly pension of 5 quarters of a bushel and a peck of good corn, and a robe for life, and the said Hugh ought to have all twigs, branches and firewood in the said woods, with free entrance and exit.
Thorneton upon the moor. Thirteen bovates of land with 8 tofts, 3 cottages and 5s. rent, held of the king in chief by service of 1/4 knight’s fee; and they are charged to Elizabeth, late the wife of Sir Robert son of Ralph, as dower in 75s. yearly.
Belbergh. A fishpond [alias fishery] held of the heirs of Gilbert Haunsard, service unknown.
Crostthwayt [in Tesedale]. The manor with its hamlets (extent given), held of Henry son of Hugh by service of 2s. yearly.

Nidde in the wapentake of Clarehow. The manor (extent given), held of the earl of Albemarle by service of 1/4 knight’s fee, whereof 12 carucates of land make a knight’s fee; and the said earl holds the manor of the archbishop of York as of the manor of Ripon by the same service. Isabel late the wife of Robert son of Ralph son of William, is dowered in a third part of the manor.

Thorp Basset. Two parts of the manor (extent given), including 7a. meadow in Gamelsholm, held, together with the third part of the manor, which the abovesaid Elizabeth holds in dower, the reversion whereof is to the said Ralph his heir, of the abbot of St. Albans by service of 1d. yearly; and the whole manor is charged to Ralph de Hastynges and his heirs in 8l. yearly.
Skakilthorp. A close of meadow now inundated by the water of Derwent, 4 bovates of land which now lie uncultivated on account of the devastation of the Scots, 11s. rent from free tenants, and 76s. 8d. from 5 messuages and 10 bovates of land held in bondage, rents from cottars, a moiety of a water-mill &c., held of Thomas de Wolney by service of 1/8 knight’s fee.

Hilderskelf and Galmethorp. Thomas de Bolton, knight, was seised of the rent, robes and saddle above mentioned, for life, by virtue of a writing made to him by the said Ralph, continuously until the said Ralph’s death.
Writ of plenius certiorari to enquire whether Nicholas, father of Ralph de Hastynges, and the said Ralph were seised of the rent of 8l. charged upon the manor of Thorpbasset, and continued their seisin, or not, 22 August, 17 Edward II.

Thorpbasset. Ralph son of William gave to Nicholas de Hastynges and his heirs for ever a rent of 8l. out of the said manor, by a certain writing, and the said Nicholas and Ralph his son were seised thereof by the hands of the reeve of the said manor and of the reeve of Ralph de Graystok until the death of the said Ralph de Graystok.
