BUCKINGHAM. Inq. 6 January, 4 Edward III.
Aylesbiry. A yearly farm of 60l. to be received from the men of the said town for the farm of the same, which they used to render at the king’s exchequer.
NORFOLK. Inq. 24 January, 4 Edward III.
Ormesby. A farm of 16l. yearly from the manor by the grant of King Edward II, which manor Roger de Ormesby, knight, holds of the king at fee farm. He held no other lands or tenements in the hundred of Flegg.
WORCESTER. Inq. 8 January, 4 Edward III.
Wich, held in fee tail, of the grant of King Edward II, to him and the heirs of his body, and farmed to the tenants from of old at 99l. 5s. yearly.
MIDDLESEX. Extent, 10 January, 4 Edward III.
Westminster. A messuage, sometime of Otho de Grandissono, whereof part is held of the abbot of Westminster by service of 2s. yearly; and a messuage sometime of Walter de Bedewynd, held for life of the gift of King Edward II.

Wykham. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church, held in chief of the church of Lincoln, by service of a sparrowhawk yearly.

Wacheleston and Littlefeld. The hundreds (extents given), including 10s. rent from the town of Haudhlo, tenure unspecified.

Derteford. The farm of the royalty and market, viz.—12s. 10d. yearly rents of assize from tenants of Cranestede; 6l. 18d. from tenants of Coumbe; 4l. 14s. 10d. from tenants of Chis’; 4l. 13s. 8d. from tenants of Cobeham; 24s. from the tenants of the reeveship of Dertford; 13s. 4d. from 4a. meadow; 18s. 10d. yearly rent of stalls (scamell’) and of the guild (gillde); 13s. 4d. yearly from the ferry of the Darenth (Tarante); 40s. yearly from toll-travers (theolonio transverso) and a quay there; and 8l. 7s. 8d. from views of frank pledge &c.
He also died seised of a yearly farm of 30l. to be received from the profits of the said county by the sheriff’s hands.

Swannescamp [or Swannescombe]. The manor (extent given), including a vineyard, a park, two ferries, and the perquisites of the courts of Gravesende, Ocle, and Wouteryngbiri, pertaining to the same manor, and the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief, as of the honour of the castle of Rochester by service of rendering yearly 4l. 4s. to the said castle, and 8s. 3 1/2d. at the king’s exchequer.
SOUTHAMPTON. Extent, Thursday after the Circumcision, 4 Edward III.
Aulton. The manor and hundred (extent given), including the lands of Chashurst and Sherewynd, and that which was of Vincent de Molendinis, 20s. from ‘Tuthyngpani’ at the feast of St. Martin, and 76s. from ‘Tuthyngpani’ at the two ‘laghedayes’ at the hundred of Haliburne, tenure unspecified.
SOUTHAMPTON. Extent, 9 January, 4 Edward III.
Bedhampton. The manor (extent given), including land in a tillage called ‘Bynethweye,’ a pasture ‘en le Brounfeld,’ a pasture ‘en le Millemor,’ a pasture called ‘le Hook,’ and the advowson of the church, held as of fee tail to him and the heirs of his body, of the king’s gift; which manor was sometime held of the abbot of Hyde by Winchester by service of a knight’s fee, but how the said earl held it is unknown.
Andevre, held in fee tail of the gift of King Edward II; which town was from of old let to farm to the burgesses of the said town, for 104l. 12s. yearly.
Basyngstoke, held as above; which town was from of old let to farm to the tenants of the same town, for 80l. 15s. yearly.
LINCOLN. Extent, 15 January, 4 Edward III.
Brotelby. The manor (extent given), including rents of free tenants together with the ward of the castle of Lincoln, viz.—11l. by the tenants of the fee of ‘la Haye,’ 60s. rents of certain tenants in the city of Lincoln, and 16s. rents of certain tenants at Stouwe, held, jointly enfeoffed with Margaret his wife of the grant of William de Clyff, clerk, for the life of Alesia de Lacy, countess of Lincoln; and the king has released his reversion in the said manor, which he had by reason of the forfeiture of Hugh le Despenser, the younger, to the said earl and his heirs, to hold of the king by knight’s service, but of how much service the jurors know not, because the services are more fully contained in the king’s charter which the said earl had.
LINCOLN. Extent, 10 January, 4 Edward III.
Gretham. The manor (extent given), including a meadow called ‘le Frith,’ certain ploughings by tenants of Wynceby, Hameringham, and Scraythefelde, who claim common in a marsh, 50 works of reaping in Wynceby and Hameringham, and two crofts in Steynwathe belonging to the said manor, with its member of Thorley (extent given), including a hen or 2d. at Christmas from each tenant of Mynting and Gouteby, held with its other appurtenances in Waynflete and elsewhere, as of fee tail of the king’s gift, of the king in chief, by knight’s service, but for what portion of scutage is unknown, because he held all his lands and tenements which he had of the present king’s grant, by service of 4 knights’ fees.
Beseby. The manor (extent given).
Castre. The town with the soke, let to farm from of old to the tenants of the same town for 50l.
Grymesby. The farm of the borough, which the men of that borough used to render at the king’s exchequer, viz.—50l.
All held of the gift of King Edward II, in fee tail, but by what services the jurors know not, because the services are contained in the said king’s charter, by which he granted the same and other lands.
NORTHAMPTON. Extent, 5 January, 4 Edward III.
Torpel. The manor (extent given), including plots of pasture in ‘le Hilhawe,’ Parsonesfen, Parsonesyerde, and Standelf.
Upton. The manor (extent given), including a wood called Suthawe.
All held in fee tail, of the king in chief, by knight’s service.
NORTHAMPTON. Extent, 3 January, 4 Edward III.
Eston by Staunford. The manor (extent given), including ferns (filices) in the park and in ‘le Haywode,’ worth 2s. yearly, held to him and the heirs of his body, of the king in chief, by service of a knight’s fee, with reversion to the king and his heirs.
HUNTINGDON. Extent, 16 January, 4 Edward III.
Caldecote. Two parts of the manor (extent given), including a grove called Templegrove, held as of fee tail with reversion to the king, as of the honour of Huntingdon, by service of two parts of a knight’s fee.
St. Ives. A yearly farm of 50l. from the abbot and convent of Rameseye for the fair of the said town, held in fee tail.
RUTLAND. Extent, 4 January, 4 Edward III.
Ryhale. The manor (extent given), including a wood called Brakenhull, a several fishery, and 2s. to be paid by the lord to bondmen for ‘le Sithale’ at the time of mowing, held by the king’s gift in fee tail of the king in chief, as of the honour of Huntingdon, by service of a knight’s fee.
WILTS. Inq. and Extent, 16 January, 4 Edward III.
Kyvele. The manor, sometime of Edmund, earl of Arundel (extent given), including a wood called ‘Kyvelewode,’ held as of fee tail by the king’s grant of the king in chief, by service of a knight’s fee and a half, and 20s. yearly at the king’s castle of Devyses for the ward of the said castle.

Berdestapel. The hundred (extent given).
Suthbiri and Hanne. A farm of 11l. 12d., to be received yearly from the abbot of Stratford for the manors; and a farm of 50l. to be received yearly from the abbot of Waltham.

Lammersh. The manor (extent given), including a park of 40a. called ‘Lammershparc,’ held of the manor of Badewe by service of a knight’s fee, which service Robert de Bruis, late lord of the said manor of Badewe, released to Hugh le Despenser, the elder.
John Daspale ought to receive 20l. yearly, in fee simple, from the said manor, of the grant of the said earl of Kent, until the said earl or his heirs should have enfeoffed the said John or his heirs of 20l. of land in fee; of which 20l. the said John was seised for three years before the said earl’s death.
DEVON. Inq. 22 January, 4 Edward III.
Kenton. The manor (extent given), including 6s. 2 1/2d. rent of customary tenants, called ‘Schurcheschute,’ 4s. yearly from the fishery of Exemouth, 20s. yearly from a ferry, 20s. yearly from the hills of Hagheldon, 5s. rent yearly from an attachment (attachiamentum) at Tengemouth, and 6s. yearly from a custom called ‘Hurtpeny,’ held of the king in chief to himself and the heirs of his body, as of the king’s ancient demesne.
He held no lands or tenements in Cornwall.
Lyfton. The manor (extent given), including 66s. 8d. yearly rent from the foreign hundred with Sourton, held of the king in chief, as of the ancient demesne of the Crown, to himself and his heirs &c.
Scheftb[e]r[e]. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, as of the ancient demesne of the Crown, to himself and his heirs &c.
Chettescombe. The manor (extent given), held of Hugh de Courtenay, by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee, to him and his heirs as above.
Brampton manor. A yearly farm of 18l. 13s. 4d. to be received from the abbot of Clyve for the farm of the said manor, which he used to render at the king’s exchequer, held in fee tail.
HERTFORD. Inq. 14 January, 4 Edward III.
Byssey [or Bissheie]. The manor (extent given), including a pasture called Wyldemor, and a fishery, held of the earl of Hertford (rectius Hereford) by service of a knight’s fee.
SUFFOLK. Inq. 5 January, 4 Edward III.
Leyham. The manor (extent given), including a several fishery, held of the abbot of St. Edmund’s, service unknown.
Kerseye. The manor (extent given), out of which 10l. are to be paid yearly to the abbess and nuns of Chateriz, and 8d. yearly to the prior of Christ Church, Canterbury, held of the said abbess and nuns by the said service of 10l. yearly.
All held of the king’s grant to him and the heirs of his body, with reversion to the king or his heirs.
SURREY. Inq. 15 January, 4 Edward III.
Takworth. The manor (extent given), held with its members, viz.—Wyke and Turbevile, of the honour of Gloucester, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and suit at the court of Bletchingeleygh every three weeks, and rendering at the feast of St. Michael 4s. yearly to the prior of Merton, 20d. to Robert son of Nigel, and 2d. to the prior of the hospital of St. Mary without Byscopesgate.
La Wyke [or Wyke]. 80a. arable, 4a. meadow, 1a. wood, and 6s. 8 1/2d. rent of assize, held of the honour of Gloucester by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee.
Turbevile. A ruined messuage, lands, rent, &c. held in chief of the king as of the manor of Scene, by service of 18s. yearly, and suit at the court of Schene every three weeks.
He held no knights’ fees or advowsons of churches in the county.
SURREY. Extent, 10 January, 4 Edward III.
Wocking. The manor (extent given), including pastures at Kyngesworthende, the old garden, the park, Wodebrok and Coresbrook, a fishery, and 4s. 6d. for carriage of salt, viz.—‘saltsilver,’ held with its members of Sutton, Hoke, and Piribryht, of the king in chief, by service of half a knight’s fee, and rendering 20s. yearly at the king’s exchequer by the hands of the sheriff, called the serjeanty of Mayford.
Sutton. A ruinous messuage, lands, a pasture in Estwode, rents, &c. (extent given).
Hoke. (Extent given.)
Piribright. The manor (extent given), held as of fee tail in chief of the honour of Gloucester, by service of a knight’s fee and suit of court at Bleccheyngleye every three weeks, and rendering 20d. yearly at the king’s exchequer, by the hands of the sheriff.
Bagshote. A ruinous messuage, lands, rents, &c. held of the lord of Stanwell, by service of rendering 3s. 4d. every 22 weeks.
SUSSEX. Inq. 15 January, 4 Edward III.
Chichester. A yearly farm of 36l., to be received from the mayor and citizens, for the farm of the said town, which they used to render at the king’s exchequer, held in fee tail.
Idene. A yearly farm of 8l., to be received from the manor by the hands of the tenant of the same.
SUSSEX. Inq. held at Nomaneslond, 15 January, 4 Edward III.
Bourne and Stanstede. The manors (extent given), including a park with deer, a market, 10s. from the mowing of the meadow of Aroundel, 6s. 8d. from the farm of the mullet fishery, 60s. from the farm of the hundred of Oulethorn, and 20s. from a hundred pertaining to the manor of Bourne, which is let thus to farm, held as of fee tail, as parcels of the honour of Arundell, by knight’s service.
Wollavyngton, which is of the honour of Arundell. A capital messuage, lands, &c. (extent given), including a pasture called ‘Ouxislese,’ a park with deer, and rents at Wollavyngton and Grofiham.
Palyngham and Dunhurst, with theirmembers in ‘le Walde,’ which are of the honour of Arundell. Two capital messuages, lands, &c. (extent given), including a park at Dunhurst containing in circuit seven leagues, with deer, a park at Palyngham, a wood called ‘le Blakebroke,’ pasture in ‘le Blakemelde,’ a fishery let to farm for 8s., and the site of a manor at Herynglond.
The lord can sell each year, to the value of 20l., of dry dead wood and underwood, in all the parks and woods within and without (intrinsecis et forinsecis), which are of the said honour of Arundell, without waste or destruction of covert.

Aroundell. The castle and borough (extent given), including two windmills called ‘Tollelone’ and ‘Piperinge,’ a water-mill called ‘Swannebourne,’ a fishery with a weir, a park called ‘le Rokes’ with two crofts called ‘le Beddes,’ a park called ‘le Michelepark,’ a new park called ‘Shelerth,’ another new park called ‘Breneskomb,’ a park called ‘le Dunleye,’ six woods with deer in the free chase of Aroundell, viz.—Westholt, ‘en la Roule,’ Shelerthe, Alfeldeholt, and Wenegrave, two ferries, a market with a fair, 20s. from the rent of Borhunte, and 7l. 10s. yearly from seven hundreds pertaining to the same honour, held as of fee tail by the king’s charter, with the manors, hundreds and hamlets pertaining to the honour of Arundell, of the king in chief by knight’s service, but by how much service is unknown to the jury, the services being more fully contained in the king’s grant, which the earl had.
Estdene, a member of the honour of Arundell. Easements of houses in the park, lands &c. (extent given), including a park with deer.
Westdene, a member of the said honour. 280a. land and a several pasture for sheep on the hills and fields.
Sengelton, belonging to the said honour. A capital messuage, lands, rents, &c. (extent given), including a mill called ‘Chisharwe,’ 56s. 3d. rent of Menewode, and pleas &c. of the courts of Sengeltone and Estdene.
Cherleton. The manor belonging to the said honour (extent given).
Lemmenstre, belonging to the said honour. A capital messuage, lands, &c. (extent given), including lands &c. in Alverodesham.
Northstoke, belonging to the said honour. A grange, with oxhouse, lands, &c. (extent given), including plots of pasture called ‘le Althres’ and ‘le Brokes,’ a fishery, and a custom called ‘le Dayerie.’
LEICESTER. Extent, 14 January, 4 Edward III.
Castel Donyngton. The castle and manor (extent given), including 22a. land in tillage called ‘le Oldhee,’ which cannot be sown because of the inundation of the river Trent, 40a. pasture in a plot called Langholm, a park, from the underwood of which are yearly supplied faggots and hurdles for preserving the lands and meadows of Donyngton from being submerged by the water of Trent, and where the rector of Donyngton and the master and brethren of the hospital of St. John there, have common for all kinds of cattle which are of their own breeding (de eorum nutritura propria), a fishery in the Trent, a ferry across the Trent, two parts of which pertain to the lord of Donyngton, and a third part to the abbot of St. Wareburg, Chester, foreign rent, viz.—in Rodington, 10s. rent called ‘Warnot,’ 30s. rent in Caldon, 8s. rent in Leyk, 8s. rent in Wylyngton, 20s. rent in Tykenhale, and 12s. 7 1/2d. rent in Allerton belonging to the said manor, and the wapentakes of Allerton, Plumtre and Rysele, held as of fee tail, of the king’s gift, with its members and wapentakes &c.; which manor was sometime parcel of the earldom of Chester, but for what portion of service the said earl held it, is unknown to the jury, for the said earl held that manor, as well as other lands and tenements which he had of the king’s gift, for certain services contained in the king’s charter.
SOMERSET. Inq. Saturday after St. Hilary, 4 Edward III.
Somerton. The manor (extent given), including a several pasture in Kyngesleverham, a moor called Kyngesmore, the foreign hundred with the bedelry, a market, and 6l. 14s. rent from divers burgesses in the new borough, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Estcammel. The manor (extent given), including a pasture called Thornlese, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Kyngesbury. The manor (extent given), including pasture on ‘la Doune,’ and the foreign hundred, held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
Chedderne and Congresbury. 54l. yearly by the king’s grant, from the bishop of Bath for the farm of the manors; and 20l. yearly from the prior of Bath for the farm of the barton.
He had no advowsons of churches in the county, and as to knights’ fees the jury know not.
GLOUCESTER. Inq. Thursday after St. Hilary, 4 Edward III.
Barndesle, Barndele [or Berndesley]. The manor (extent given), including a meadow at Cirencestre pertaining to the lord of Barndesle, called Dittenham, within the close of the abbot of Cirencestre, the first crop whereof pertains to the lord and the rest to the said abbot, and another meadow called Pountmpre.
Knights’ fees and advowsons:—
Colesburn. Half a knight’s fee held by John Lehout of the lord of Barndesle; and half a knight’s fee held by Elias Cokerel of Iccoumbe.
The advowson of the church pertains to the earl of Hereford.
Musardere. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church.
There are no knights’ fees pertaining to the manor.
Overe Sodynton. The manor (extent given).
There are no knights’ fees or advowsons of churches belonging to the manor.
Lecchelade. The manor (extent given), including a close called Mereham, toll and rents of the borough, and the advowson of the priory and vicarage.
There are no knights’ fees pertaining to the manor.
All the aforesaid manors and lands were held of the king by the said earl, to himself and the heirs of his body.
Gloucester. A yearly farm of 65l. to be received from the men of the same town, which they used to render to the king, held by the said earl as of fee tail.
Circestre [or Cirencestre] and the seven hundreds. A farm of 30l. to be received from the abbot of Circestre, who used to render the same at the king’s exchequer.

NOTTINGHAM. Extent, 14 January, 4 Edward III.
Allerton under Shirewode. The manor (extent given), including a wood called Balscale (?), within the king’s forest of Shirewode, and an alder grove called ‘Milnedam,’ held as of fee tail; which manor was sometime of John de Sutton, who held it of the honour of the castle of Donyngton by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee; and the sheriff of Nottingham has it in keeping by the king’s writ; but for what portion of scutage the said earl held it, is unknown to the jury, for he held that manor, as well as the other manors &c. which he had of the king’s gift, for certain services contained in the said grant.
Allerton. The wapentake, held in fee tail, as member and parcel of the manor of Donyngton, co. Leicester, which is held of the king in chief by knight’s service, quantity unknown, but on the extent of the same manor made by the king’s escheator the whole service is more fully contained.
DERBY. Extent, 15 January, 4 Edward III.
Assheford in the Peak. The manor (extent given), including 94a. arable at Hulmesfeld, 27a. meadow at Assheford and Bakewell, a wood called Chekelowe, and a certain lead mine, held as of fee tail of the king in chief by knight’s service, quantity unknown, because the earl held that manor, together with other lands &c. of the grant of King Edward II, for certain services contained in the same king’s charter; which manor the sheriff of Nottingham and Derby has in his keeping by the king’s writ.
YORK. Colingham. A yearly farm of 90l. for the manor from the abbot of Kyrkestall, which the said abbot used to render at the king’s exchequer.

Plumttre. Half a knight’s fee held by William son of William.
Clipston by Plumttre. A quarter of a knight’s fee, held by the lady of Bingham.
Hykelyng. A quarter of a knight’s fee, held by William de Grey.
Edewalton. A quarter of a knight’s fee, held by Thomas de Cheworth [or de Chaworth].
Donyngton. A tenth part of a knight’s fee, held by John de la Botelerie; a tenth part of a knight’s fee, held by John Lacatour; a fortieth part of a knight’s fee, held by William de Belton; a fortieth part of a knight’s fee, held by Richard Baret; and a fortieth part of a knight’s fee, held by William de Saxton.
Donyngton. The advowson of the hospital of St. John.
The said earl held the above fees, belonging to the manor of Donyngton, in the same way as he held that manor.

RUTLAND. Little Casterton. A moiety of a knight’s fee pertaining to the manor of Eston, co. Northampton, held by Henry Lescrope, knight.
NORTHAMPTON. Northburgh. A moiety of a knight’s fee, held by the abbot of Peterborough of the manor of Torpel.
Loholm. A knight’s fee (pertaining to the manor of Torpel) held by Robert de Loholm.
Suthorp. A quarter of a knight’s fee (pertaining to the same manor) held by the heir of Richard de Walcote, a minor and in the wardship of the said abbot; and a quarter of a knight’s fee, held by Sir John Griffyn, knight.
Ufford. Half a knight’s fee (pertaining to the same manor), held by the heir of Ralph de Mortuo Mari.
Ufford. The advowson of the church.
[RUTLAND.] Ryhale. A sixth part of a knight’s fee (pertaining to the manor of Ryhale), held by Henry de Sprotton; and a sixth part of a knight’s fee, held by Henry son of Thomas.
