	(Unspecified.) A messuage, held of the manor of Braneys, as of the earldom of Cornwall, by knight’s service. Great Rakerneforde. A messuage, 60s. yearly rent, and 8a. meadow, held by the courtesy of England, of Hugh de Courteney, by knight’s service, of the inheritance of Constance his wife, viz.—by a knight’s fee and doing suit at his court of Exebrigge every three weeks. Little Rakerneforde. A messuage. Sidham. 20s. yearly rent, a messuage, and a carucate of land. All held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England in free socage, by the courtesy of England as abovesaid. Robert de Cruwes, aged 32 years and more, is his next heir.

	Elerky, Lanrihorn and Laundegy. The manors (extents given), including the advowson of the church of Lanrihorn and a park there with wild beasts (feris bestiis), held of the gift of Michael de Frenouwil, for his life, by fine levied in the king’s court, with remainder, after the decease of the said Thomas, to John his son and the said John’s heirs by Cicely, daughter of Jordan de Haccombe, by service of rendering a greyhound at Bodmin, on Easter Day, to the steward of Cornwall. Treberveth. The manor, viz.—5a. Cornish, held of the gift of the said Michael to the said Thomas and Maud his wife and the heirs male of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Thomas, by service of 13s. 2 1/2d. yearly rent, in socage. All held of the king in chief, as of the honour of the castle of Launcevetone for life. Bodduan or Bodduuan. The manor (viz.—) 2 1/2 acres, held of the prior of Bodmin by service of 16d. at the feast of St. Michael, and an ewe with a hogg(et) at the feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross, in socage with common suit. 	Compton and Eckabokelond. The manors (extent given), acquired by the said Robert from John Gyffard, by fine levied in the king’s court, to hold to him and the said Joan and to his heirs; and the said Joan held the manors after the said Robert’s death, and died seised thereof; they are held immediately of John, son and heir of John de Mohoun, by service of two parts of a knight’s fee, and the same John holds of Hugh de Cortenay by the same service, and he holds in the same manner of the king in chief. Margery the wife of Roger de Wytelegh, aged 17 years and more, is daughter and next heir of the said Robert, and was married to the said Roger in the lifetime of the said Robert, ten years ago.

	Savernake Forest. 1 1/2a. land and the bailiwick of the forestry of a certain part of the said forest called ‘Broyl de Bechewynde,’ held of the king in chief, by service of rendering 8s. yearly at Marlborough castle and keeping the bailiwick of the said forestry. Harden. A messuage, lands and rent, held of Robert de Bilkemor by fealty only. Maud, daughter of William de Hardene, his brother, whom Thomas Allesford of Hardene married, aged 25 years and more, is his niece and next heir.

	Hogstone by Walssingham. A moiety of the manor (extent given), held for life, of the grant of Petronilla de Narford, his mother, by the king’s licence, of the king in chief by service of paying 10s. yearly of blanch farm at the castle of Norwich, and rendering 4 bushels of wheat yearly at the manor of Wythton, which is in the hand of Ralph, count of Eu, and of Maurice de Cornu. Thomas de Narford, knight, son of the said Petronilla, aged 30 years and more, is next heir of the said lands and tenements.

	Writ of certiorari to enquire whether the said Roger held certain lands, &c., in Wistowe for life only, or otherwise, which Reginald de Salesbury and Constance his wife entered upon after his death, 6 July, 5 Edward III.
YORK.	Inq. Saturday the feast of St. Matthew, 5 Edward III.
	Walter Giffard, sometime archbishop of York, acquired 43a. 1r. land in Wistowe to him and his heirs from William, son of Helen (Elene) de Wistowe, now deceased, which William held the same of the said archbishop and his predecessors as of the right of their church of St. Peter’s, York, by service of 5s. yearly; and the said Walter gave the said land in fee to Roger le Keu, his cook, who gave it in fee to William de Byngham, and he gave it in fee to Sir Ralph de Eyton, sometime vicar of the church of Schirburn, who gave it to the said Roger de Thorp now deceased, and Joan his wife, for their lives, all holding by the above-mentioned service; with remainders, after the death of the said Roger and Joan to the said William de Byngham, now deceased, and Constance his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, and to the right heirs of the said William de Byngham; which Constance Reginald de Salesbury has now married. The said land is not held of the king in chief.

	Kyngesham in the suburb of Cicestre. A messuage, lands and rent, and the advowson of the church of St. Pancras in the same suburb, held jointly with Isabel his wife, of the enfeoffment of William de Sydenye, by fine levied in the king’s court, by the king’s licence, to hold to them and the heirs of the body of the said Nicholas, of the king and his heirs; with remainder, to John son of William de Heyot, the elder, and the heirs of his body, and reversion to the said William de Sydenye and his heirs. The said Isabel still survives; and the said tenements are held of the king in chief by service of finding the king a small spindle full of raw string (fusillum plenum crudi fili) for making a false cord for the king’s crossbow, if he shall come by a certain lane called ‘Gode lane’ to make war on the south sea. William his son, aged one year, is his next heir.

	Scalleby. A plot called ‘le Southhalle,’ viz.—a void plot which was once a manor, 80a. arable and 44s. 3d. yearly rent, held of the king as of the heir of John Paynel of Rasene, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee. The said Edmund held no other lands or tenements in his demesne as of fee on the day he died, because he alienated ‘le Norhhalle’ in Scalleby and certain other tenements to Richard de Amcotes, rector of the church of Scalleby, and Thomas his brother, for their lives, and alienated other tenements, in fee, to divers tenants there. John his son, aged one year and more, is his next heir.
HUNTINGDON.	Inq. 20 April, 5 Edward III.
	Everton. The manor (extent given), held of Sir Thomas, earl Marshal, by service of a knight’s fee, and doing suit at the said earl’s court of Weston by Baldok every three weeks; and the said earl immediately after the death of the said Edmund seized the manor into his hand, and occupies it now. He died 10 April last. Heir as above, aged one year on Whitsunday next.
HUNTINGDON.	Inq. 13 April, 5 Edward III.
	Offord Daneys. The manor and the advowson of the church (extent given), including a several fishery, also a several pasture at ‘le Heegh Snappe’ and Litlecroft, held of Richard Waleys and Eleanor his wife, by service of a knight’s fee, as of the said Eleanor’s dower falling to her from the free tenement which was of Robert le Brus, father of Robert le Brus, deceased, sometime her husband, which knight’s fee King Edward II assigned to the said Richard and Eleanor, as the dower of the said Eleanor. He died 12 March last. Heir as above, aged one year on the eve of Whitsunday next.
CAMBRIDGE.	Inq. Saturday after St. Mark, 5 Edward III.
	Coldham, Mareistede and Beuford, in Elm. The manors (extent given), including three messuages and a fishery called ‘Estiworth,’ held jointly with Elizabeth his wife, of the bishop of Ely, by knight’s service and a yearly rent of 6l. 13s. 4d. He died 10 April last. Heir as above, aged one year on Whitsunday next.
NORTHAMPTON.	Inq. 18 April, 5 Edward III.
	Neubotle and Brinton. A moiety of the manor (extent given). Asshele. A messuage, lands and rent (extent given). Buckeby. 18s. yearly rent from 2 bondmen who hold 2 messuages and a virgate of land. All which the said Edmund, a year and more before his death, granted to Thomas de Pateshull for his life; they are not held of the king, but of divers other lords, service unknown. Thomas de Verdoun receives yearly, for his life, from the moiety of the said manor 66s. 8d. at Easter, and a robe, price 50s., at Christmas, and John de Waldegrave a robe, price 20s., at the same feast. Heir as above, aged half a year and more.
BEDFORD.	Inq. made at Potton, 26 May, 5 Edward III.
	Potton. 14l. 14s. yearly rent of free tenants, a windmill and 10s. pleas, &c. of two views and of court, held of John de Claveryngge by service of half a knight’s fee. Alricheseye. A messuage, lands, rent, &c. (extent given), held of Richard Talebot [or Taleboth], by service of half a knight’s fee. Heir as above, aged one year at the feast of the Annunciation last.
BEDFORD.	Inq. made at Bykeleswade, 11 July, 5 Edward III.
	Potton, &c. To the same effect as above; adding that the said Edmund had nothing in demesne in the lands and tenements at Eddeworth which were seized into the king’s hand through the death of the said Edmund, and which are held of the earl Marshal by service of half a knight’s fee, because long before his death he gave the said tenements to Thomas de Pateshull and Peter de Hynewyk, clerks, who still survive, for their lives, rendering to the said Edmund and his heirs a rose at the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, with reversion to himself and his heirs.
SUFFOLK.	Inq. 24 July, 5 Edward III.
	Grymeston. The manor (extent given), including a garden called Orcherdattegate, held jointly with Elizabeth his wife, of Thomas, earl of Norfolk, as of his manor of Dovercourt, by service of half a knight’s fee, by the enfeoffment of Thomas de Pateshull and John de Welington, clerks, to hold to the said Edmund and Elizabeth and the heirs of their bodies, with remainders successively, to Walter, Simon, and Robert, brothers of the said Edmund, and the heirs of their bodies, and to the right heirs of the said Edmund. Heir as above, aged two years and more.
NORFOLK.	Inq. 1 August, 5 Edward III.
	Drayton. The manor (extent given), including a several fishery, and a turbary in the marsh called Westlunde, held jointly with Elizabeth his wife, of Robert de Morle as of his manor of Hokeringge, by service of two knights’ fees, and 7s. 6d. yearly at the said manor of Hokeringge, by the enfeoffment of John de Welton and Thomas de Pateshull, clerks, to hold to the said Edmund and Elizabeth and the heirs of their bodies, with remainders over to the said Edmund’s brothers and right heirs as above. 	Stretton. Two parts of the manor (extent given), held of Ralph, Baron of Stafford, by service of two parts of a knight’s fee. Heir as above, aged one year on Whitsunday last.

	Tasseleye. The manor (extent given), held of the earl of Arundel by service of half a knight’s fee. Oldebury. The manor (extent given), held of the said earl by service of half a knight’s fee. Pichford. The manor (extent given), held of John de Cheotewynde, knight, by services of a quarter of a knight’s fee. Heir as above.
	Writ of certiorari, on the complaint of Thomas, son of Robert de Aspale, that the escheator had taken into the king’s hand, with other lands, &c. which were of Edmund Peverel, the manor of Southall in Scalleby, which the said Thomas’s father gave him during the life of the said Edmund, 23 January, 5 Edward III.
LINCOLN.	Inq. Thursday after St. Matthias, 6 Edward III.
	Scalleby. Robert de Aspale was seised of a plot of land called the manor of Southalle, with other lands and tenements pertaining thereto, and, long before the death of Edmund Peverel, granted the same by charter, dated 20 February, 4 Edward III, to Thomas the said Robert’s son and his heirs; who was seised thereof until the death of the said Edmund, when it was taken into the king’s hand because it was found by an inquisition, taken before the escheator, that the said Edmund died seised of the same. It is held of the king as of the heir of John Paynel, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of a moiety of a knight’s fee.

	Balattesdon. The manor (extent given), held jointly with Thomas, son of Richard de Polhampton, for their lives, by the charter of the late King Edward II, in his 7th year, of the king by service of a fifth part of a knight’s fee. Sandone. A messuage and a virgate of land, held jointly with Edmund her son, of the heirs of Richard Fokeram by service of 5s. yearly. Suthfalle. The manor (extent given), held for life of the king in chief, by service of half a knight’s fee; which manor the said Richard and Margaret acquired from John de Percy and Agnes his wife, to hold to them and to the heirs of the said Richard, by licence from King Edward II, in his 10th year. Thomas son of the said Richard and Margaret, aged 23 years, is their next heir.
	Writ of plenius certiorari, Thomas de Louth, to whom the king has committed the wardship of the manor of Suthfalle, with the marriage of the heir, having given the king to understand that Thomas the heir has not yet completed his nineteenth year, and that the (above) inquisition was taken to the king’s deception, 11 December, 5 Edward III.

	Thomas de Polhampton, son and heir of Richard de Polhampton and Margaret his wife, is of full age, viz.—23 years; which the jury know because the said Richard and Margaret his wife were staying with Sir Thomas Danvers, knight, at Wynterburne in the above county, in 2 Edward II, where the said Thomas de Polhamptone was born on Monday before All Saints in the same year and baptized in the church of the same town, and Thomas Danvers son of the said Sir Thomas was godfather of the said. Thomas de Polhampton, and Gilbert de Okhangre and John de Oterburne, two of the present jury, were present at his baptism, at the request of Sir Thomas Danvers.

	Perton. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by grand serjeanty viz.—by service of a man armed with haqueton, hauberk, iron cap and lance, with two unbarded horses, for forty days in the king’s army of Wales, whenever the king shall make war there, viz.—for eight days at the said John’s own expense, and for thirty-two days at the king’s expense, receiving daily food (poturam) and 8d. William his son, aged 34 years at Christmas last, is his next heir.

The manor (extent given), and the advowson of a church, held for her life, by the gift of John de Cobaham by fine levied, with remainders after her death to Nicholas her son and the heirs of his body, and to the right heirs of the said Joan, of Hugh de Cortenay by service of a knight’s fee, who holds it of the bishop of Exeter, and he of the king in chief. Brytevyleslegh. A messuage, a carucate of land, and 5 marks rent, held of the gift of John de Cobaham by fine in form aforesaid, of John de Ayschelegh by service of a knight’s fee, who holds of John de Layburne, and he of the king in chief. Nicholas her son, aged 22 years and more, is her next heir.

Halton, Herdensfast and Pelaton. 6l. 7s. 4d. yearly rent. Halton. The advowson of a church and two corn-mills. Pelaton. The advowson of a church, a corn-mill and a fulling-mill. All held for her life, of the gift and enfeoffment of John de Cobbaham, by fine levied in the king’s court, to herself, and after her death to Nicholas her son and the heirs of his body, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Joan. Trewynt. 7 1/2a. Cornish and 1 furlong of land, a corn-mill and a fulling-mill, held of Ralph Buville by knight’s service, of the gift of the said John de Cobbaham by the said fine, &c. St. Ives. 4a. 	Endorsed, Joan Bendyn mentioned in this writ is the same Joan who was the wife of Roger de Inkepenne, whose lands are contained in the annexed inquisitions.

Bartholomew his son, aged 23 years and more, is his next heir.

	Chute. The manor (extent given), held as of fee tail of the enfeoffment of John son of William de Insula, who enfeoffed the said John and Petronilla, in manner abovesaid; whereof one carucate of land is held of Hugh Daudele and Margaret his wife, one of the sisters and heirs of Gilbert late earl of Gloucester, by service of doing suit at their hundred of Kynewarston every three weeks; another carucate is held of the abbot of Hyde by service of 61s.; and a third carucate is held of Hubert de Escoete and Thomas Ameneigh by service of 11s. 1d. A messuage and 30a. land, with the bailiwick of the forestry of the forest of Chute, held of the king in chief by the serjeanty of keeping the said forest, which is almost disafforested. Woditon. The manor (extent given), including a fishery in an arm of the sea and a rabbit-warren, held of the king as of the honour of the castle of Caresbroke, which is in the king’s hand, by service of finding a horseman at his own charges for the defence of the Isle of Wight in time of war. Bonechurche. The manor (extent given), held of the king as of the aforesaid honour by service of finding a man as abovesaid. Apeldreford. The manor (extent given), held of the king, as of the honour aforesaid, by similar service. Mannesbrugg. The manor (extent given), held of the abbot of Hyde by service of 13s. 4d. yearly. An assart called ‘Bulford Toftes’ held of the king in chief, by service of rendering 13s. 4d. yearly at the king’s exchequer at York. Shireveshoton. The manor (extent given), including a plot called ‘le Cotgarthe,’ and a wood called ‘le Laghwode,’ held of Peter de Malo Lacu by service of a knight’s fee and making two attendances yearly at his court of Baynton. Middelham, Crakhale, Carleton and Thoraldby. The manors held for life, with remainder to his son Ralph and his heirs, of the grant of Robert de Nevill by fine levied in the king’s court, together with certain underwritten tenements in Richmond and Westlatone, of the earl of Richemond by service of 4 knights’ fees.
