	Paull (Pagula). Four bovates of arable land, 11a. meadow, and pasture for nine fat beasts, held of the king in chief, as of the honour of Albemarle, by service of finding four men at Paulflete, for ferrying across the water of Humber the lord and lady of the manor of [Brus]twyk for the time being, when they shall happen to cross from the parts of Holdernesse to the parts of Lyndesey; a messuage and 2a. 1/2r. land held of the abbot of Aumarle by service of 8d. yearly and finding a lamp burning with oil in the church of St. Mary, Paull, every year on each Sunday; and two tofts held of John le Conestable of Halsham by service of 16d. yearly. WILTS.	Inq. taken at Chipham, 23 November, 12 Edward III.
	Dicherigge. A messuage, a water-mill, lands, and rent (extent given), held for his life of the lordship of Strugull by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee; which lands &c. after his death ought to remain to John de Knovyll and Margery his wife, and the heirs of their bodies. Heir as above.
GLOUCESTER.	Inq. 6 December, 12 Edward III.
	Gravenhulle. 15s. 4 1/2d. yearly rent from six free tenants, held of the king in chief by service of a twenty-seventh part of a knight’s fee. ʒarkleye by Lydeneye, within the forest of Dene. An assart, containing 36a. land, held of the king in chief, rendering 9s. yearly. Kyllcote and Little Teynton. A messuage, lands and rent (extent given), held for his life, jointly with Joan his wife, by fine levied in the king’s court, 12 Edward II, of Henry de Penebruge, as of the inheritance of Robert Walrond, knight, in free socage. He held no other lands &c. in the county, nor in the March (of Wales). Heir as above.

KENT.	Inq. 11 June, 12 Edward III.
	Melton. A messuage and 80a. land held of the countess of Penbroch in gavelkind, by service of 60s. yearly; and 120a. land held of John Bacon by knight’s service. Gravesende. 40a. land held of Robert de Ufford, earl of Suffolk, in gavelkind, by service of rendering 13s. 4d. yearly. Notstede by Gravesende. The manor (extent given) held of Elizabeth de Kyrkeby, as of her manor of Hortone, by service of rendering to her yearly half an ell of scarlet, and rendering for her at the castle of Dover 10s. every 24 weeks, and doing suit at her court of Hortone. Thomas de Gravesende, his kinsman, aged 25 years and more, is his next heir.
SURREY.	Inq. 10 May, 12 Edward III.
	Benchesham. The manor (extent given) held for his life of the archbishop of Canterbury, as of his manor of Croyndon, by service of 21s. yearly, and by suit at the archbishop’s court at Croydon; the reversion whereof belongs to Hugh de Nevill, who is 30 years of age and more, by fine levied in the king’s court.
MIDDLESEX.	Inq. taken at Brainford on Tuesday after the Invention of the Holy Cross, 12 Edward III.
	Fulham. A messuage and land (extent given) held for his life, doing 11s. yearly to the lord of Fulham for the time being, suit of court there, and wardship and marriage, when it shall happen. The said Stephen acquired the said tenements for his life of William Vigerous, parson of the church of Lopham, and of William Mogge, parson of the church of Weyleye, with remainder to Hugh de Nevile, to hold of the chief lords of that fee by the services thereto pertaining, for the life of the said Hugh, with further remainders to Thomas de Graveshende and the heirs of his body, and to Thomas son of Henry Chamberlain and his heirs for ever, as appears more fully by a fine levied in the king’s court, three weeks from Easter day, 11 Edward III. He died on Wednesday before Easter day in the year abovesaid. Thomas de Graveshende is his next heir, and of full age.
ESSEX.	Inq. taken at Horndon, 11 May, 12 Edward III.
	Thurrok Gray. The manor, held on condition that if John de Grey, or any one in his name, shall pay to the said Stephen, his heirs or executors, at any term before the feast of St. Michael, A.D. 1339, a certain sum of money lent to the said John de Gray, then it shall be lawful for the said John to enter upon the said manor, to hold to him and his heirs for ever, but if the said John or his heirs shall fail in the said payment, then the said manor shall remain to the heirs of the said Stephen for ever; which manor is held of the earl of Lancastre by service of a knight’s fee. Chaldewelle and Southmenstre. Two messuages and lands (extent given) held for his life of the gift of William Vygerous, parson of the church of Lopham, and of William Mogge, parson of the church of Wyleye, with remainder to Hugh de Nevyll, who still survives, to hold for his life, and further remainders to Thomas de Gravesende and the heirs of his body, and to Thomas son of Henry Chaumberleyn and his heirs for ever; whereof a messuage, 24a. land, and 60a. marsh, are held of the earl of Hereford by service of 5s. yearly; and a messuage, 201 1/2a. land, 12a. meadow, and 30a. 3r. pasture, are held of the bishop of London by service of 2s. yearly. 	Eukeresbury in the New Forest. A moiety of the manor held jointly with Eleanor his wife, who still survives, for their lives, of the king in chief, by service of finding an armed man in the king’s war in Scotland, for forty days, at his own charges. He held no other lands &c. in the county. Adam his son, is his next heir and of full age.
WILTS.	Inq. taken at Dounton, 26 March, [12] Edward III (defaced).
	Grymstede. The manor, with the hamlets of Playteford, More, and Bumertone (full extents given), held of the king in chief by service of a knight’s fee, and of finding an armed man for the king in his war, for forty days, at his own charges. Abbassetone. A messuage, 60a. arable, and 100s. rent, held to himself and his heirs by Agnes sometime his wife, of the abbess of Wilton, by service of 100s. yearly. Melchet. The keepership of the king’s park held to him and his heirs at fee farm, rendering 20s. yearly to the king at his manor of Clarendon. 	Great Leyghes. Six marks yearly rent from seventeen free tenants, held of the king in chief, by service of rendering a strip (unam trench) of scarlet yearly, price half a mark. Sturmere. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church …… held of John de Burnham by service of a pair ………… a. land held of Hugh ……, prior of Stoke ……………………. to hold to the said John and the heirs male …… [ (fn. 2) Badewe. The manor. Tyrlinge. The manor. Bockinge. The manor.] ……… held of the bishop of Norwich by service of 30s. yearly. The said John, long before his death, demised …… to Philip (?) de Go …. and Richard Grapinel, rector of the church of Bures Giffard, and their heirs; which manor is held of the prior and convent of Christ Church, Canterbury, by service of 30s. yearly. John his son, aged 10 years, is his next heir. Endorsed: It was found by an inquisition taken after the death of William de Goldyngton, father of John de Goldyngton within written, and returned into the chancery, 12 Edward II, that the said William held five marks of rent in the hamlet of Chatelegh and town of Great Legh, of the said king in chief, by service of a tenth part of a knight’s fee, and rendering to the said king an ell (ulnam) of scarlet, price 5s., at the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, as by the said inquisition on the files of the escheatry of the said 12th year will more fully appear.
BUCKINGHAM.	Inq. taken at Yvingho, 9 June, 12 Edward III.
	Messeworth. The manor held jointly with Katherine his wife, who still survives, of the gift of Henry de Burgersh, bishop of Lincoln, of the duke of Cornwall, as of the honour of Berkhampstede, by service of half a knight’s fee. He held no other lands &c. in the county. Heir as above.
HERTFORD.	Inq. 10 June, 12 Edward III.
	Thele. The manor held jointly as above, by fine levied in the king’s court, to hold to the said John and Katherine and the heirs male of the body of the said John, of the earl of Oxford by service of half a knight’s fee. Heir as above.
	Writ of plenius certiorari to William Trussel and others, to enquire whether the said John held any lands &c. whereby the wardship of his lands ought to pertain to the king, or not, 23 September, 12 Edward III.
BUCKINGHAM.	Inq. 13 October, 12 Edward III.
	Messeworth. The manor held jointly as abovesaid in the inquisition of 9 June, as of the honour of Wallingford, by knight’s service. He held no other lands &c. in the county.
HERTFORD.	Inq. 12 October, 12 Edward III.
	Thele. The manor, and the advowson of the collegiate church of Thele, held jointly as above, of John de Veer, earl of Oxford, by knight’s service, by fine levied in the king’s court on the octave of St. Hilary, 3 Edward III, between the said John and Katherine, and Richard Grapinel, parson of the church of Bures Giffard, to hold to the said John and Katherine and the heirs male of the body of the said John. He held no lands &c. in his demesne as of fee in the county.

	Great Leyes. Six marks rent from seventeen free tenants held of the king in chief, by service of rendering to him yearly a strip (unam trencheam) of scarlet, price half a mark. Sturmere. STAFFORD.	Inq. made at Newcastle under Lyme, 20 March, 12 Edward III.
	Rushton, Corneford, Austanfeld, and Caldon. Lands and tenements (extents given), which came to the king’s hands by the forfeiture of Hugh le Despencer, late earl of Winchester, held by the king’s grant, and by his charter, to the said Roger and his heirs to hold of the said king and his heirs and of the other chief lords of those fees by the services by which the said tenements were previously held, viz.—2l. rent &c. at Rushton held of the abbot of Dieulencresce by service of 1lb. pepper yearly; pasture upon the moors in Corneford held of James Daudele by service of two arrows yearly, which the said Roger demised to William atte Bekke, for life, rendering 26s. yearly to him and his heirs; a third part of Alstanfeld where he had 12l. rent of free tenants &c. held of Henry, earl of Lancaster, by service of a third part of a knight’s fee; and 32s. rent &c. at Caldon held of the prior of Stanes by fealty. 	Enhale. The manor (extent given) held of John Bardulf by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and suit at the court of Wrmegeye; 31a. land held of John de Sewal by service of 2s. 2d. yearly; 1a. land and 1a. pasture held of Thomas de la Haie by service of 11d. yearly; and 20a. land held of John de Bregham by service of 3s. 4d. yearly. John Botetourt her son, aged 19 years and more, is her next heir.
WARWICK.	Inq. made at Birmingham, 1 March, 12 Edward III.
	Bordesleye. The hamlet held of the king in chief as a member sometime of the castle of Doddele, which castle is held of the king in chief by service of two knights’ fees and a half. Heir as above, aged 19 years on the day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross last.
WORCESTER.	Inq. 22 February, 12 Edward III.
	Nortfeld or Norfeld, at Weleye. A messuage with a close adjacent, lands, rent &c. (extent given), including a fishery and a park, held of the king in chief by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee. Cradeley. Rent from divers free and customary tenants, a mill, a wood &c. Oldesweneford. Rent from divers free and customary tenants, a water-mill &c. All held of the king in chief by the service abovesaid. Heir as above, aged 19 1/2 years.
STAFFORD.	Inq. 24 February, 12 Edward III.
	Mere. The manor (extent given), including a fishery called ‘la Mere,’ held of the king in chief at fee farm by service of rendering yearly at the king’s exchequer 10l. by the hands of the sheriff of Stafford. Honesworth. The manor (extent given) held as a member of the barony of Duddeleye, the whole of which barony is held of the king in chief by service of two knights’ fees and a half. Clent (extent given), held of the king in chief at fee farm by service of 100s. yearly, to be rendered at the king’s exchequer by the hands of the sheriff of Stafford. She held no lands &c. in the county of any one but the king. Heir as above, aged 19 years and more at the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross last.
BUCKINGHAM.	Inq. 28 February, 12 Edward III.
	Neuportpaynel. The manor (full extent given), including tallage, perquisites of court and portmote, and toll of the market, held of the king in chief by service of a knight’s fee; and there ought to be paid yearly to Philip de Ayllesbury 6l. 13s. 4d. Little Lynford. The manor (extent given), including a fishery, a member of the manor of Neuport Paynel, and held of the same manor by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee; and there ought to be paid to Philip de Hardeshulle 46s. 8d. yearly. She held nothing of any other lord. John, son of Thomas Botetourt, aged 19 years at the feast of the Invention (sic) of the Holy Cross last, is her next heir.

NOTTINGHAM [and DERBY].	Inq. Tuesday after St. Thomas the Apostle, 12 Edward III (much defaced).
	Warsop. The manor (full extent given), including [a park called Pleseley park,] a pasture called Brendhagh [and a market], held of the king in chief [as of the crown by service of half a knight’s fee]. [Birklondfeld. A plot of land and waste called Birkelondfeld by Warsop held of the king in chief by rendering 2s. 6d. yearly at the exchequer by the hands of the sheriff.] Eykeryng [or Aykeryng]. The manor [with the advowson of the church] held of Henry de Bello Monte by service of a twentieth part of a knight’s fee. William de Ros, his brother, aged 50 years and more, is his next heir. The manor of Warsop is charged by John de Sutton, late lord of the manor, to Sir Thomas de Longvilers in 5 marks yearly for his life … to Robert del Hyll of Clipston in 20s. yearly for his life; and to John Sely in 60s. 8d. yearly for his life, and a robe price 10s. yearly, for the keeping of the park of Pleseley and of the warren of the manor of Warsop.
YORK.	Inq. Saturday before the Epiphany, 12 Edward III.
	Weston by Otteley. The manor (extent given), including a ruinous capital messuage, held of Roger Bigot, as of the manor of Setryngton, by service of rendering to the said Roger and his heirs 30s. yearly. Bayldon. The site of a wasted messuage, a wood called Danhirst, two woods common to the whole town, and 20s. rent, held of John Ward, knight, by service of a fortieth part of a knight’s fee. Thornton in Cravene and Turnumhalle. The manors, and a moiety of the manor of Clif, together with the advowsons of the churches of the said manor of Thornton and Ilkeley, held jointly with Margaret late his wife, who still survives, of the gift of George de Ros, knight (chivaler), and Peter de Ritthre, parson of the church of Kirkeby-Misperton, to hold to the said John and Margaret, and the heirs of the said John, by fine levied in the king’s court. The manor of Thornton is held of Henry de Percy, knight, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee; and the manor of Turnumhalle and the moiety of the manor of Clif are held of the bishop of Durham, as of the manor of Houedene, by service of a quarter of a knight’s fee, and rendering to the said bishop and his successors 8l. 16s. yearly; and they are charged in 4l. yearly to Simon de Acon for his life, by the grant of Peter de Malo Lacu, sometime lord of the manor and moiety aforesaid. William de Ros, knight, his brother, aged 50 years and more, is his next heir.

NORFOLK.	Inq. 3 December, 12 Edward III.
	Wadton. The manor (extent given) held, by the gift of William de Ros his father to the said John and the heirs of his body, with reversion to the said William and his heirs, of the said William and his heirs by service of 2d. yearly; which manor is held of the earl of Norfolk by knight’s service, but for how much is unknown. The said John died without heir of his body, whereby the manor ought to revert to the said William, son and heir of William de Ros, the aforesaid donor, aged 40 years and more.
NORFOLK.	Inq. taken at Holt, 5 December, 12 Edward III.
	Kelling. The manor (extent given), with the advowsons of the churches of Kelling and Salthous, held for his life and a year beyond by the grant of Walter de Holwelle, knight, and Joan his wife, paying to them 10 marks yearly; which manor is held of Laurence de Hastinges, son and heir of John de Hastynges, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by knight’s service.
LINCOLN.	Inq. Thursday after St. Nicholas, 12 Edward III.
	Boston, Wiberton, and Skirbek. A messuage, 16 cottages, 52a. land, 6a. meadow, and a windmill, held of the earl of Richemund, the earl of Suffolk, and William de Ros of Hamelak, by knight’s service, but for how much is unknown, and by service of 60s. yearly and two attendances at their court yearly. Donyngton. A messuage, 14a. land, 12a. meadow, and a salt-pit, held of the earl of Richemund and Nicholas de Ry by service of two attendances at their court yearly. Gedeneye, Gouxhill, and Steynton. The manors (extents given) held as of the right and inheritance of Margaret his wife, who still survives, of the king, as of the honour of Aumale, by knight’s service. Poynton and Roxham. The manors (extents given) similarly held of Henry de Bello Monte by knight’s service, but for how much is unknown. Basingham. A messuage called ‘Marihall,’ held in the same manner as parcel of the said city, of the king in chief, as in burgage of the same city, by service of rendering to the mayor and bailiffs 1d. at the feast of St. Michael.
