583. JOHN DE SEYMOR.
Commission to John de Charnels, Robert de Wylughby and Richard Blundel, escheator in co. Northampton, to inquire as to the lands &c. late of John de Seymor, deceased, in Grafton and Herdewyk, 27 May, 24 Edward III.
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Wendlyngburgh, Saturday after St. Barnabas, 24 Edward III.
On Friday after SS. Peter and Paul, 23 Edward III, John de Seymor, knight, being sick to death, of good and sane memory, gave the manor of Herdwyk, which he had by ancient right and inheritance, to William de Seymor and Elizabeth Chartres, sister of the said John, and, being carried to the door (ostium) of the said manor, he delivered seisin thereof to the said William and Elizabeth, and was carried thence to his manor in the same town, late of Peter Barry. He also gave to the same William and Elizabeth a large grange and a large garden, late of the said Peter, and two carucates of land, and, being carried from one manor to another, said, ‘Take this grange and garden by way of seisin,’ and so he died, seised of that capital messuage late of the said Peter and of a virgate of land in Herdwyk, excepted from the said grange and garden; which messuage and virgate of land are held by knight’s service of the heir of Laurence de Hastynges, a minor in the king’s wardship.
Little Harwedon. Two virgates of land held of the same heir, service not known.
Grafton. The manor, tenure and service not known.
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Wendlyngburgh before John de Charnell’ and his fellows, Wednesday after the octave of Holy Trinity, 24 Edward III.
Tichemersh. A messuage and a virgate of land with the adjacent meadow, which render 40s. yearly to the said John and his heirs during the life of Robert in le Lane and Rose his wife by demise of the said John, with reversion to him and his heirs. The said messuage and land are held in chief of the heir of John Lovel, a minor in the king’s wardship, by knight’s service.
Grafton. A messuage, 36a. arable, with meadows and pastures, a windmill, 14 messuages and 8 virgates of land held by divers tenants for 40s. yearly, 7s. yearly, 11 capons and 1/2lb. pepper rent of divers free tenants and seven cottages, which used to render 7s. yearly, and are now vacant, held in chief of Simon Simeon by suit of court twice yearly and finding a man for one day for one bedripe in the autumn at the cost of the said Simon, viz. one repast at noon.
Herdwyk and Little Harewedon. The deceased held divers lands in Herdwyk and Little Harewedon of the earl of Pembroke (fn. 1); what lands, tenures and services not known.

584. THOMAS WARDE of Middelton.
Writ, 28 January, 24 Edward III.
YORK. Inq. taken at York, Wednesday after the octave of Easter, 24 Edward III.
Middelton. Two messuages and six bovates of land, which, long before his death, he gave to William son of John de Sutton, clerk, who gave them to the said Thomas for life, with remainder of one of the said messuages to John son of the said Thomas and Agnes, his wife, and the heirs of their bodies, and with remainder of the other messuage and the six bovates of land to the said John son of Thomas and the heirs of his body, with further remainders of the said messuages and land to Robert son of the said Thomas and the heirs of his body; and Richard son of the said Thomas and the heirs of his body. The said Agnes survives. The said John and Robert, sons of the said Thomas, died without heir of their bodies, shortly (statim) before the death of the said Thomas; Richard survives. One of the messuages and four of the bovates are held of the heir of William de Roos of Hamelak, a minor in the king’s wardship, by service of a sixteenth part of a knight’s fee and homage. The other messuage and two of the bovates are held of the provost of Beverley by knight’s service and 8s. yearly, doing suit at the court of the provost of Beverley in the Bedern (in Bederna) every three weeks and by homage. Decreases of value are shewn due to the pestilence.
He held no other lands &c. in the county.
He died on 6 August last. Richard his son, aged 16 years and more, is his heir.

585. ROBERT CORNWALAYS of Aclum.
Writ, after the death of the said Richard, who held by knight’s service of the heir of William de Roos of Hamelak, a minor in the king’s wardship, 10 June, 24 Edward III.
YORK. Inq. taken at York, Thursday before St. Bartholomew, 24 Edward III.
Aclum. A messuage and ten bovates of land, with the reversion of two bovates of land held for life by John de Rillyngton of the inheritance of the said Robert, all held of the aforesaid heir of William de Roos by homage and by service of a sixth part of a knight’s fee.
He held no other lands &c. in the county.
He died on 14 August, 23 Edward III. Thomas, son of Robert Cornwalays, son of the deceased, aged two years and more, is his heir.

586. JOAN, LATE THE WIFE OF JOHN SON OF JOHN WODECOK.
Writ, after the death of the said Joan, who held by knight’s service of the heir of William de Roos of Hamelak, a minor in the king’s wardship, 26 May, 24 Edward III.
YORK. Inq. taken at Wynestowe, Thursday after SS. Peter and Paul, 24 Edward III.
Wyuestowe. Eleven bovates, untenanted through the mortality, and 3 tofts in the hands of tenants at will rendering 6s., held jointly with John, sometime her husband, to them and the heirs of the said John, of the heir of William de Roos, as above, by homage and by service of a seventeenth part of a knight’s fee and rendering 7 1/2d. yearly for the fines of the wapentake of Buccros and 7 1/2d. yearly in aid of painting a shield of the arms of the said William de Roos and his heirs, which rents Ralph de Nevill receives amongst possessions, late of the said William, granted to him by the king; a messuage held jointly as above, of Andrew le Bogher and Beatrice his wife as of the right of the latter by service of 8d. yearly and fealty.
She held no other lands &c. in the county.
She died on 10 September last. John Wodecok, son of the said John, son of John, and Joan, aged four years on this side of (citra) the Purification next, is their heir.

587. HUGH, SON OF WILLIAM WARD of Oswaldkirk.
Writ, after the death of the said Hugh, who held by knight’s service of the heir of William de Roos of Hamelak, a minor in the king’s wardship, 1 April, 24 Edward III.
YORK. Inq. taken at Malton, 12 April, 24 Edward III.
Oswaldkirk. The deceased held no lands in fee simple, but William Ward, his father, formerly held a messuage and 9a. land in Oswaldkirk, which he gave by charter to Maud daughter of John Jarkenvill, and the heirs of her body, with reversion to himself. The said Maud died 16 years ago. She had lawful issue Hugh, the deceased, and Emma his sister. The said Emma still survives. The tenements are held of the heir of William de Roos by homage and by service of a hundred and sixtieth part of a knight’s fee.
He held no other lands &c. in the county.
He died on 12 August last. The aforesaid Emma, aged 40 years and more, is his heir in tail.

588. ROBERT DE ESLYNGTON.
Writ to John de Clifford, escheator in Northumberland, to assign dower to Elizabeth late the wife of Robert de Eslyngton, 12 February, 24 Edward III.
Certificate of the said escheator that he has received the oath of the said Elizabeth not to marry without licence and has assigned to her in dower the following:—
NORTHUMBERLAND. Eslyngton. A third part of the capital messuage, demesne lands and meadow, eight husband lands, 2 1/3 cottages, a third part of a water-mill, of a close called Waywod, of a thicket (bruseti) called ‘le Therne,’ of a dovecot, of common with all her beasts and tenants, and of digging peat (petas) in the moor of Edlyngehame, of ten cartloads of wood yearly in the wood of Edlyngehame, of the services of John de Eslyngton and his heirs, and of their profit from tenements of Framlyngton and elsewhere.
Wetyngehame, Throunton and Barton. A third part of a capital messuage, of demesne lands and meadows in Wetyngeham, excepting (preter) the tenements which Christiana de Rolandyston held there in dower at the time of and after the death of the said Robert de Eslyngton; also 3 1/4 husband lands and a cottage in Wetyngehame and a husband land in Barton and three husband lands in Throunton, with 4a. land out of half a husband land in Throunton, with 10 1/2d. issuing from demesne lands held by William de Hawkyll there; also a third part of a third part of the wood of Wetyngehame, with estovers in the rest of the said wood and common in the same, and reasonable estovers, viz. husbote and haybote, there, together with Robert Baroun, bondman, and his family, and a third part of the mills of Wetyngehame and Throunton, when they shall exceed in value eleven marks yearly.—Eslyngton, 10 May, 24 Edward III.

The said Robert is an idiot now, but he was not so from his birth, and he does not enjoy lucid intervals. The jury are altogether ignorant as to who stands nearest to him, incapable of inheriting from him, to whom the custody of his lands ought to belong.

590. NICHOLAS, SON AND HEIR OF JOHN DE HUNTYNGTON.

KENT. Proof of age taken at Maydestan, Wednesday the feast of St. Dunstan, 24 Edward III.
Richard le Clerk, aged 40 years, says that the said Nicholas was 22 years of age on the feast of St. Gregory last, for he was born at Ealdyng and baptised in the church there, and his name was entered in the missal of the said church on the feast of St. Gregory, 2 Edward III.
John Hernest, aged 50 years, agrees and says that he was in the church when the said Nicholas was baptised.
John atte Stokke, aged 56 years, agrees and says that he has a son named John, born about the Purification, 2 Edward III, who was 22 years of age on the Purification last, and on the feast of St. Gregory after his birth the said Nicholas was born.
Thomas de Impyngberi, aged 40 years, agrees and says that he buried John Godard, his uncle, in the cemetery of Ealdyng church on the same day on which the said Nicholas was born.
John atte Watere, aged 56 years, agrees and says that he married one Alice on the same day on which the said Nicholas was born.
Thomas de Kynton, aged 40 years, agrees and says that on the same day he began his journey to Santiago.
John Badewe, aged 50 years, agrees and says that on the same day he began his journey to Santiago.
Thomas Godyng, aged 50 years, agrees and says that on the same day he was betrothed to Joan daughter of Richard Page (affidavit Johannam … ducendum earn in uxorem).
Anselm Ide, aged 60 years, agrees and says that on the same day Katharine his wife was delivered of William, his firstborn son.
William Meer, aged 40 years, agrees and says that on the same day he sent (deputavit) Robert, his firstborn son, to the schools to learn.
John Pykyng, aged 50 years, agrees and says that he lost his tenement in Ealdyng in the king’s court at Westminster on the octave of the Purification before the feast of St. Gregory on which the said Nicholas was born.
Peter Marchaunt, aged 50 years, agrees and says that on the same day he acquired a messuage and fourscore acres of land in Ealdyng.

ESSEX. Proof of age taken at Branketre, Wednesday after Palm Sunday, 24 Edward III.
William Porter, aged 60 years, says that the said John was 21 years of age on the feast of St. Gregory last, having been born at Tolleshunte and baptised in the church there, and his name was entered in the missal of the said church on the feast of St. Gregory, 3 Edward III.
John Naylynghirst, aged 50 years, agrees and says that he was in the church when the said John was baptised.
Reynold de Bockyngge, aged 48 years, agrees and says that he had a son named Roger born about the Purification, 3 Edward III, who was 21 years of age on the Purification last, and the said John was born on the feast of St. Gregory following the said Roger’s birth.
Thomas de Hodynges, aged 44 years, agrees and says that he buried John de Hodynges, his uncle, in the cemetery of the said church on the day the said John was born.
Walter atte Mote, aged 56 years, agrees and says that on the same day he married one Alice.
Gerard Huraunt, aged 60 years, agrees and says that on the same day he began his journey to Santiago.
John atte Fen, aged 44 years, agrees and says that on the same day he had a messuage in the same town burnt with fire.
Ralph atte Stokkes, aged 54 years, agrees and says that on the same day he was betrothed to Joan, daughter of Richard Page.
John Leybourne, aged 60 years, agrees and says that on the same day Katherine his wife was delivered of William, his firstborn son.
Richard le Rowe, aged 60 years, agrees and says that on the same day he sent Robert, his firstborn son, for the first time to the schools to learn.
Richard Peyntour, aged 43 years, agrees and says that on the same day he acquired a messuage and 80a. land in the same town.
John Chilterne, aged 50 years, agrees and says that he lost a tenement he had in the same town in the king’s court at Westminster on the octave of the Purification before the said feast of St. Gregory, 3 Edward III.

592. WILLIAM, SON AND HEIR OF ROGER DE HUNTYNGFELD.
Writ de etate probanda concerning the said William, whose lands are in the custody of Ralph de Nevill, 10 December, 24 Edward III.
LINCOLN. Proof of age taken at Toft by Freston, Thursday after the Purification, 25 Edward III.
Alexander de Gipthorp, knight, aged 58 years and more, says that the said William was born at Toft by Freston and baptised in the church there on 8 January, 3 Edward III, and this he knows because on the same day he was present in the said church to make his peace with the said Sir Roger de Huntyngfeld for a trespass committed by his tenants on the said Sir Roger and his tenants in a place called ‘Wildemore,’ and at the same time the said Sir Roger released to him and his tenants all actions touching the said trespass, the date of which release was 21 years ago last 9 January.
John Mosse of Leek, aged 53 years and more, agrees and says that at that time he was attorney of the said Sir Roger and prosecuted his pleas at the court at London, and was present at the concord made between the said Sir Roger and Alexander de Gipthorp and his tenants, and knows the date by certain evidences in his possession.
Roger de Grymescroft of Leek, aged 46 years and more, agrees and says that in the same year at the feast of St. Nicholas then next preceding, Alan de Grymescroft, his father, died, and the day of his death he caused to be inserted in memoranda.
William Bayard of Boston, aged 50 years and more, agrees and says that at the feast of St. Thomas preceding in the same year he purchased certain lands &c. in the same town of Toft and the charter of the said lands &c. is dated 21 years and more ago.
William Faxceus of Skirbek, aged 42 years and more, agrees and says that he was in the wardship of the said Sir Roger de Huntyngfeld for a long time, by reason of his minority, for certain lands which he holds of him in Toft and Skirbek and at St. Hilary then next following, 3 Edward III, he received his lands &c. by reason of his full age, and he knows by this and by other indentures made at the same time.
Robert son of Henry de Toft, aged 40 years and more, agrees and says that at the feast of SS. Fabian and Sebastian then next following he was enfeoffed, jointly with Joan his wife, of certain lands &c. in Benyngton, the date of which feoffment is 21 years ago last feast of SS. Fabian and Sebastian, and he knows also by other indentures made at the same time by John Bret, who then married the sister of the said Robert’s wife.
Richard Westfale of Toft, aged 57 years and more, agrees and says that at the feast of All Saints next before the birth he went to Flanders with certain wools for sale and at the same time gave his lands &c. to Henry de Toft by charter of feoffment, the date of which was 21 years ago at All Saints last.
John de Bruera of Freston, aged 60 years and more, agrees and says that at Christmas before the birth he did fealty to Sir William de Roos for certain lands in Freston, and at the same time the lady of Huntyngfeld, who was then pregnant, prayed Sir Roger de Huntyngfeld, his lord, for a letter to Sir William de Roos, that he might be gracious and favourable to the said John de Bruera in the matter of his relief when receiving his fealty.
Alan de Claxby of Freston, aged 40 years and more, agrees and says that at the Epiphany in the same year he began his journey to Santiago and the Court of Rome, and 21 years and more have elapsed since then.
John Walkenot of Toft, aged 58 years and more, agrees and says that on the day of the birth he had a son called John, born and baptised in the same church, who, at Holy Trinity last, took priest’s orders, and is now 21 years of age and more.
Roger Erlyn of Toft, aged 40 years and more, agrees and says that at the feast of St. Michael next before the birth his mother Joan surrendered to him her lands &c. by feoffments, the dates of which are 21 years and more ago.
Walter de Stykenaye of Boston, aged 48 years and more, agrees and says that John de Stykenaye, his brother, was steward of Sir Roger at Toft, and at the time of the churching of the lady of Huntyngfeld, his wife, the said John and Walter made provision of wine and other victuals at Boston for the churching, and the date of the account of expenses bears witness to the said William’s age.
Ralph de Nevill was warned by William Bayard of Boston and Richard Westfale of Toft to be present at the taking of this proof of age.

593. WILLIAM, SON AND HEIR OF WILLIAM DE ROOS of Hamelak.
Writ de etate probanda concerning the said William, whose lands are in the custody of Ralph de Nevill and Bartholomew de Burgherssh by the king’s commission. He was born at Friston, co. Lincoln, and baptised in the church there. 9 June, 24 Edward III.
LINCOLN. Proof of age taken at Boston, 14 June, 24 Edward III.
Sir James de Roos, knight, aged 40 years and more, says that the said William was 21 years of age on the feast of St. Dunstan last, and this he knows because he has a son called John, who was born on the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle preceding the feast of St. Dunstan, the day of the said William’s birth, and this son John was 21 years of age at the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle last; and moreover the deponent was in the manor of Sir William de Roos at Freston on the said feast of St. Dunstan when the said William was born there, and was present in the church when he was baptised.
John de Tileneye, knight, aged 50 years and more, agrees and says that he was in the abbey of Croyland when a letter came from the lord of Roos to the abbot to announce to him the said William’s birth, and the said abbot caused the day of the birth (originis) of the said William to be written in a certain book, which book and date the witness saw three days ago.
John de Welle, knight, aged 40 years, agrees and says that in the same month and year in which the said William was born he acquired certain lands &c. in Endrerby and by the date of the charter he knows the said William’s age.
Simon de Thorleye, esquire (armiger), aged 50 years, agrees and says that he was at Freston on the day the said William was born and baptised, and his father died eight days before the said William’s birth.
William Bayard of Boston, aged 50 years, agrees and says that he caused the day of the said William’s birth to be inserted in certain memoranda and in a kalendar, which writing is still in his possession.
Robert de Berughdon, aged 60 years, agrees and says that his father died on the same day on which the said William was born, and he has the day of his father’s death in certain memoranda.
John Mosse, aged 50 years, agrees and says that at the time of the churching of the lady of Roos there was a proclamation of a tournament, where many magnates were gathered together, on which day he purchased a piece of land in Leyk, and by the date of his charter he is sure of the said William’s age.
Laurence de Leyk, aged 50 years, agrees and says that he was in the priory of Freston on the day of the said William’s birth, and he saw them write the day of his birth in a certain book in the priory.
William Curteys, aged 40 years, agrees with Laurence de Leyk and says that he was clerk of the prior of Freston at the time.
John Beek of Freston, aged 50 years, Robert Pyncoun of Boston (age not given) and Thomas de Brampton, aged 40 years, agree and give the same reason as William Curteys.
Ralph de Nevile, Bartholomew de Burghasch and John Darcy were warned to be present and made no objection to the proof of age being taken.

594. JOHN DE BELLO CAMPO, SON AND HEIR OF JOHN DE BELLO CAMPO, of Somerset.
Commission de etate probanda, directed to John de Clyvedon, Walter Pavely and Thomas Cary, escheator in Somerset, or two of them, of whom the said Thomas is to be one; the said John’s lands are in the custody of Reynold de Cobham by the king’s grant, 12 January, 24 Edward III.
Writ to the sheriff to summon a jury and warn Reynold de Cobham, 12 January, 24 Edward III.

SOMERSET. Proof of age taken at Stoke undir Hameldon, Thursday before the Purification, 25 Edward III.
Reynold de Cobham, though warned by John le Hayward and Robert le Strete, did not come nor send anyone in his name.
John Faconer, aged 50 years and more, says that the said John de Bello Campo is 21 years of age and more, for he was born on the feast of SS. Fabian and Sebastian, 3 Edward III, at Stoke under Hameldon, and baptised in the free chapel of St. Nicholas there, and deponent had a son named William born of Isabel, his wife, who was 21 years of age on the Epiphany last, and he was born on that feast before the said John’s birth.
John Huchouns, aged 40 years and more, agrees and says that on the feast of SS. Fabian and Sebastian, 3 Edward III, he came on a message from the abbot of Atthelyngnye to Stoke under Hameldon to John de Bello Campo the father, and then the said John the son was born and baptised in the said chapel and the said father gave John Huchouns a robe in memory of the birth.
Robert Barton, aged 40 years and more, John Thorn, aged 43 years and more, John Godewyne, aged 50 years and more, and Roger de Warmwell, aged 42 years and more, agree and say that on SS. Fabian and Sebastian, 3 Edward III, they had seisin of two messuages and 40a. land in Stoke under Hameldon from the master of Mayne, and they have the charters and writings made on that day, and at that time the birth of the said John was announced to them, and by the dates of the said charters and writings they know his age.
John Reynald, aged 45 years and more, William Lovel, aged 40 years and more, and John Belle, aged 40 years and more, agree and say that William Reynald, father of the said John Reynald, died on the morrow of SS. Fabian and Sebastian, 3 Edward III, after the birth of the said John, and they were his executors, and, by the date of his will, know the age of the said John.
Richard le Monek, aged 40 years and more, Peter le Harpour, aged 43 years and more, and Adam le Hare, aged 40 years and more, agree and say that they were present at the said John’s baptism, with John de Henton, then abbot of Muchelneye, and William de Bello Campo, knight, as their servants, and the said abbot and William were godfathers of the said John.

595. HENRY DE MOIGNE, SON AND HEIR OF JOHN DE MOIGNE.
Writ de etate probanda concerning the said Henry, whose lands are in the custody of Thomas de Berkele, 18 November, 24 Edward III.
DORSET. Proof of age taken at Dorchester, Monday the feast of St. Lucy, 24 Edward III.
Henry Sherard, aged 60 years and more, says that the said Henry is 21 years of age and more, having been born on the feast of St. Martin, 2 Edward III, at Overe, co. Dorset, and baptised in the church there. Henry Sherard was his godfather, and moreover Aldreda, his wife, bore him a daughter named Edith, who was 21 years of age on the Annunciation last, and she was born on the Annunciation before the said Henry’s birth.
William de Frome, aged 43 years and more, agrees and says that he was present at the baptism of the said Henry in the church of Overe, and John, father of the said Henry, gave him a bow in memory of the birth of his son and heir.
Alexander de Watercombe, aged 60 years and more, Thomas de Moigne, aged 50 years and more, John de Warmewelle, aged 44 years and more, and John de Kyngeston, aged 46 years and more, agree and say that on the feast of St. Michael, 2 Edward III, a certain brother of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England, then master of Mayne, sold to them 200qrs. of wheat for a sum of money to be paid on the feast of St. Martin then next to come, on which day they paid the said sum to the said master and had his letters of acquittance dated that day, and on the same day divers neighbours announced to the said master in their hearing the birth of the said Henry.

John Jakes, aged 60 years and more, Robert Scot, aged 50 years and more, and Richard de Pudele, aged 50 years and more, agree and say that they were present at the baptism, and Henry Sherard, who was suing against them a writ of trespass, at the request of John de Moigne the father, released to them all manner of trespasses, and by the date of the quit-claim the age of the said Henry is known to them.

All his other lands &c. he alienated before his death to John de Shakelford and Richard Pruet: they were held of the aforesaid Richard de Wyndesore by the above service.
He held no other lands &c. in the county.

BERKS. Inq. taken at Westhanneye, 12 September, 24 Edward III.
Lyford. A messuage, 55a. land, 2 1/2a. meadow and 3s. 7d. rent held as of the manor of Lyford, which is in the king’s hand through the death of Thomas de Coudray, knight, by homage and service of 3s. 2d. yearly. The manor of Lyford was taken into the king’s hand because Thomas de Coudray held the manor of Padworth of the king in chief. In the manors of Lyford and Padeworth, Joan, late the wife of Thomas de Coudray, was joined, by fine in the king’s court, and she outlived her husband and demised the manor of Lyford for her life to John Golafre and Thomas de Besils, knights, John Loveday and John de Dagenhale, without having sued her seisin of the said manor out of the king’s hand, and after the said demise the aforesaid Joan, late the wife of John atte More, died.
She held no other lands &c. in the county.
She died on 10 June, 23 Edward III Margaret, daughter of Alice Willies of Westchaulowe, aged two years and more, is her heir.

LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Barton-on-Humber before the said commissioners, Friday in Easter week, 28 Edward III.
The abovesaid William, after he had received the custody aforesaid, pulled down (prostravit) a certain chamber in the capital messuage of the said Robert in Barton, two cottages in Hundgate, a cottage in Skrempholm, a shop and a cottage in Burgate, all in the town of Barton, and in the gardens of the said Robert there he cut down five oaks and eight ash trees and uprooted two apple trees, thirteen aspens and three ash trees.
Writ of certiorari to the treasurer and barons of the exchequer to enquire whether Saier de Rocheford, escheator in co. Lincoln, has charged himself, in his account rendered in 23 Edward III, with any sum from the issues of the lands &c. late of Robert Bauge of Barton, 16 June, 28 Edward III.

Saier de Rocheford, escheator, in his account for 23 Edward III, charged himself with 6s. 5d. of the issues of a messuage and a carucate of land in Glenteworth, late of the said Robert, extended yearly at 40s., viz. from 3 August, 23 Edward III, to Michaelmas following, and with 6s. 5d. of the issues of a messuage and a carucate of land in Barton, late of the said Robert, extended yearly at 40s.; and, in a similar account rendered at the exchequer, he charged himself with 4l. from the issues of the said lands &c. from Michaelmas, 23 Edward III, to Michaelmas following. In his account for a year from Michaelmas, 24 Edward III, he did not answer for any issues of the said lands &c. from Michaelmas, 24 Edward III, to 19 October following, on which day he delivered to William Bret the custody of all the lands &c. late of the said Robert, as there were no issues during that time.
Writ to the escheator to enquire whether Robert Bauge held lands &c. in Glentworth and Barton and elsewhere other than those mentioned in the inquisition taken after his death, 10 September, 28 Edward III.

All the aforesaid lands &c. were in the king’s hand from the time of the said Robert’s death to 19 October, 24 Edward III, following, and afterwards William Bret of Barton occupied them.
