Between Adam Sharplus, plaintiff, and George Halgh, gent., deforciant of a messuage, a cottage, 2 gardens, a fullingmill, 12 a. of land, 1 a. of meadow, and 2 a. of pasture in Halgh.

George remitted all right to Adam and his heirs (sic).

m. 6. [23 March, 1556].
Between John Byron, kt., plaintiff, and John Byron, esq., bastard son of John Byron, kt., and Alice his wife deforciants of the manor of Butterworth, with the appurtenances, and of 100 messuages, 40 cottages, 100 gardens, 100 orchards, a dovecote, 2 water-mills, 1000 a. of land, 200 a. of meadow, 3000 a. of pasture, 160 a. of wood, 1200 a. of moor, 1200 a. of marsh, 1200 a. of moss, 800 a. of turbary, 1000 a. of furze and heath, and £6 of rent in Ryton, Butterworth, Ogden, Myddelton, Newbolde, Castleton, and Besyngshawe.

John and Alice remitted all right to John and his heirs, for which John gave them 300 marks.

Between Ralph Ryssheton, gent., plaintiff, and John Ryssheton, esq., deforciant of the manor of Dongnaugh, with the appurtenances, in Clayton, and of 26 messuages, 2 watermills, a fulling-mill, a dovecote, 40 gardens, 20 orchards, 500 a. of land, 300 a. of meadow, 400 a. of pasture, 300 a. of wood, 500 a. of furze and heath, 300 a. of moor and moss, 200 a. of turbary, and 40s. of rent in Clayton [le Moors], Dongnaugh [Dunkenhalgh], Ryssheton, Rede, Churche, Oswoltwysell, Lyttle Cattrall, Gerstang, Lancaster, Scotforth, and Carleton.

John acknowledged the said tenements to be the right of Ralph, and granted that 9 messuages, a water-mill, a fullingmill, 18 gardens, 8 orchards, 140 a. of land, 100 a. of meadow, 160 a. of pasture, 80 a. of wood, 160 a. of furze and heath, 100 a. of moor and moss, and 40 a. of turbary in Clayton, Rysheton, Rede, Churche, Oswoltwysell, Lancaster, Scotforth, and Carleton, which Ellen Ryssheton, widow, mother of the said John, held for the term of her life on the day this agreement was made, after the said Ellen's decease, should remain to the said Ralph and his heirs, for which Ralph gave him 800 marks.

Between Richard Sherborn, kt., plaintiff, and Thomas Heskyth, kt., and the Lady Alice his wife deforciants of 2 messuages, a toft, 2 gardens, 3 orchards, 100 a. of land, 30 a. of meadow, 200 a. of pasture, 40 a. of wood, and 100 a. of furze and heath in Agheton [Aighton] in Blakborneshyre and Hambleton.

Thomas and Alice remitted all right to Richard and his heirs, for which Richard gave them 100 marks.

Between John Pendleton, plaintiff, and Peter Cowoppe deforciant of 2 messuages, a toft and a garden in Manchester.

Peter acknowledged the said tenements to be the right of John, and granted that one messuage which Richard Raynshaw and Margaret his wife held in right of the said Margaret for the term of her life, after the decease of the said Margaret should remain to the said John and his heirs, for which John granted to Peter annuities of 9s. and 8s. issuing from the said tenements; to have, hold and take to the said Peter and his heirs for ever.

Between Thomas Keuerden and Richard Solam, plaintiffs, and Thomas Hesketh, kt., and Alice his wife deforciants of 2 messuages, 2 gardens, 2 orchards, 16 a. of land, 6 a. of meadow, 4 a. of pasture, and 20 a. of moor in Walton in le Dale, Sydegreyvelane, and Lee.

Thomas and Alice remitted all right to Thomas and Richard and to the heirs of Thomas Keverden, for which Thomas and Richard gave them £30.

Between Christopher Cuntlyff, plaintiff, and Ralph Ryssheton, gent., deforciant of a messuage, 3 gardens, 3 orchards, 20 a. of land, 10 a. of meadow, 30 a. of pasture, and 3 a. of wood in Clayton on the Moors.

Ralph remitted all right to Christopher and his heirs, for which Christopher gave him £40.

Thomas and Alice remitted all right to John and William and to the heirs of John, for which John and William gave them £35.

Alice remitted all right to Henry and his heirs, for which Henry gave her 200 marks.

Between Edward Standyshe, esq., plaintiff, and Roger Standyshe, gent., deforciant of 3 messuages, 5 cottages, 60 a. of land, 20 a. of meadow, 40 a. of pasture, 12 a. of wood, and 20 a. of turbary in Shevington and Standyshe.

Roger remitted all right to Edward and his heirs, for which Edward gave him £200.

m. 42. [23 March, 1556].
Between John Hall and Thurstan Parr, plaintiffs, and James Pemberton, gent., deforciant of 2 messuages, 30 a. of land, 4 a. of meadow, and 6 a. of pasture in Bedforthe [Bedford].

James remitted all right to John and Thurstan and to the heirs of John, for which John and Thurstan gave him £22.

Between John Chetham and George Prowdlove, plaintiffs, and Thomas Haslam deforciant of a messuage, 5 cottages, 5 gardens, a barn, and 3 a. of meadow in Manchester.

Thomas remitted all right to John and George and to the heirs of John, for which John and George gave him 40 marks.

Between Anthony Shepperd, plaintiff, and William Strangways, gent., son and heir apparent of Philip Strangwayes, esq, deforciant of 4 a. of land, 2 a. of meadow, and 2 a. of pasture in Manchester.

William acknowledged the said tenements to be the right of Anthony, and granted that the said tenements, which Philip, father of the said Anthony, held for the term of his life, after the said Philip's decease should remain to the said Anthony and his heirs, for which Anthony gave him 40 marks.

Between Thomas Ruddelston, plaintiff, and Ralph Radclyff and Thomas Sorocold deforciants of 4 a. of land in Salfford.

Ralph and Thomas acknowledged the said tenements to be the right of Thomas, for which Thomas granted them to Thomas Sorocold; to have to him and to his assigns from Michaelmas next before the day this agreement was made for 29 years; after that term to remain to the said Ralph and to the heirs males of his body, in default to remain to William Radclyff, kt., and to the heirs males of his body, in default to remain to the right heirs of the said Ralph for ever.

Ralph remitted all right to Gilbert and his heirs, for which Gilbert gave him £20.

Ralph remitted all right to Alexander and his heirs, for which Alexander gave him £20.

Between Hugh Anderton, plaintiff, and James Breworth, gent., deforciant of 3 messuages, 3 gardens, an orchard, 30 a. of land, 12 a. of meadow, 14 a. of pasture, 6 a. of wood, 10 a. of moor, 10 a. of moss, and 10 a. of turbary in Cleyton, in the parish of Leylonde.

James remitted all right to Hugh and his heirs, for which Hugh gave him 100 marks.

Between James Haworthe and Arthur Haworthe, plaintiffs, and Robert Haworthe deforciant of a messuage, a garden, 12 a. of land, 8 a. of meadow, 12 a. of pasture, and 2a. of wood in Homersfeld. [Hundersfield].

James and Arthur acknowledged the said tenements to be the right of Robert, for which Robert granted them to James and Arthur, to have and to hold to them and to their assigns for the term of their lives and the life of the longest liver of them; rendering therefor yearly 40s. at Whitsuntide and St. Martin the Bishop, in November, during the said term, the first payment commencing at the next of those Feasts after the decease of a certain Margaret Haworthe, widow.

Richard acknowledged the said tenements to be the right of Edward, for which Edward and Thurstan granted them to Richard; to have and to hold to the said Richard and his heirs for ever.

Between Thomas Hesketh, kt., plaintiff, and Anthony Browne, esq., and Joan his wife deforciants of 16 messuages, 4 cottages, a windmill, 20 gardens, 20 orchards, 200 a. of land, 60 a. of meadow, 200 a. of pasture, 6 a. of wood, 400 a. of moss, 500 a. of moor, furze and heath, and 5s. of rent in Hesketh, Bekensaw otherwise Bekensall, and Great Hoo [Hoole] otherwise Great Whole.

Anthony and Joan remitted all right to Thomas and his heirs, for which Thomas gave them £200.
