| Understands his intention to proceed against the enemies of Christ, as proposed by Pope Julius II. Louis XII. has favoured the project; and Henry VII. strenuously promoted it. Is ready to lay down his life for Christendom; hopes, however, Maximilian will use his efforts to compose the unhappy dissensions between the Pope and the King of France. Though he formerly sent the bp. of Murray on this mission, now commissions the Duke of Albany, that peace may be the better established by the efforts of Maximilian. | |
