Footnotes

  • 1. The first part of the word has been altered. Perhaps 'maintaining' is intended.
  • 2. The date has disappeared. Since it was the common practice to make wills shortly before death, the date is probably 1524.
  • 3. 'Hughe' at folio 27.
  • 4. The testator's widow, Margaret Moreley of South Elkington, made her will 28 September, 1529 (1520–31, folio 151). Richard Gray was vicar of South Elkington in 1526 (Subsidy 1526, page 15).
