27 March, 1525. I John Walbutt, beyng now in servis with thomas Willson of sutton in holand, etc. My body for to be beryd with in the church yard of sutton. I will my mortuary be paid after the custome of the same town. I will unto master vicar of sutton iiijd. To every stondyng lyght with in the same church jd. To the church wark of lyncoln ijd. To the power childer att santt Kateryns ijd. To John hakhard, the son of John hakhard of march, with in the dioc' of hely viij accares of freland unto hym and unto his hares of his body lawfully cumyng under the condischon foloing. To Thomas Hakhard son of the forsaid John hakhard vj accarres of fre lond unto hym and unto his hares of his bode lawfully cumyng under the condischon foloyng. I will that ether of them be other harres. I will that if the forsaid John hakhard and thomas hakhard dye withowt harres of ther bodys, then I will thatt all the lond be sold by the hondes of my executors here under namyd, And for to be dissposid with in the churches of sutton and march in prest song by ewyn porchons for my sawill and for the sawlles of my father and mother and all my gud frendes sawlles. I will that my hows in march with all my copyhold lond, with all my other guddes and catalles movabull and unmovabull, I will they be sold be my executors and the money for them takyn be dissposid in prest song with in the churchis of suttun and march by ewyn porchons for the said sawlles, provided allway that if the surrender the wich I have mayd into the handes of harry lambartt, tenantt of the same hold, may nott stond in strenght unto the performacion of my will, then I wyll that the forsaid vj accares of fre lond, the qwich I have gyffyn before unto thomas hakhard, be sold bi the hondes of my executors unto the performacion of my wyll. I bequeth in name of my mortuare that thyng that the lawe and costome will requere. To the hey altar in lutton for tythys forgoton iiijd. To the chirch warke of lutton vjs. viijd. to be dysposyd be myn executor upone that thyng that ys moste nessare for the chirch. To the lyght of seynt John a pownd wax rede made and sett upe agayn Myssomer. To the lygth of owr lade a pownd and a halfe wax clerly of my cost. This is the last wyll of me Roger Stylton: To Johanna my wyfe iij acre and a Rode of herrabull lond of the kynges holde the terme of heyr lyfe, and aftur hyr decese to remayn to Wylliam my sone and to the heyeres of his bodey laufully comyng. To Wylliam my sone and to Johanna my wyff iij acres lande of Mayster Clementes ffe, leeyng be for Wylliam derlenses howse, jonteley to geder Indueryng the lyfe of my wyffe, and aftyr to remayen holly to Wylliam my sone and to the heyeres of his bodey; remainder to matyld' my dowtur and to hir heyeres. I gyfe to Wylliam my sone to hym and to his asignes ij acr' pastur of the Abbotes fee; also A nacre and a Rod harrabull lond lyeyng in gonnes gate of the Abbotes fee, henrey masone on the sowth and matyld' stylton on the north, to hym and to his asignes. Also I gyfe to mawde my dowter one flekeyd cowe, etc. The resedewe of my goodes I presente and gyfe thaeme to the dysposicione of Wylliam styltone my sone, whome I do orden my executor, he to dyspose them to the plesur of god for the well and helth of my sowle and all crysten sowlles. Also I wyll that Roger Coney of lutton be supervysor. Also I have gyfene my lond into Rychard mall handdes to the fulfyllyng of thys my laste wyll. I John Lawes (fn. 2) of Wigtoft, the elder, etc. To be buryd in the parishe church of the appostels peter and paule in Wigtoft in the highe aley nyghe the Image of the trinitie ther, and for my mortuarie as the custom is ther. To the highe alter in the said church for tithes and oblacions forgotten xijd. To the alter of our lady ther iiijd. To the alter of St. Nich' ther iiijd. To our mother church in lincoln viijd. I will that Ales my wiffe have her feoffament and ij acres of land and di' lyeing in ffreston, called hewett green, for term of hir liffe, and after hir decesse I will that they remain to Richerd my son, to hym and to his heires of his body; and if he dey with out such heires, I will that hewet gren be sold by myn executors. The residewe of my goodes I gyve to Thom' my sonn and Helen my doughter, whom I maik my executors.

And if it so fortune that the said house stond empty for defaulte of a tenaunt, then the said ij quarters salarie to stand void for tyme; moreover if the said house fall in decay by any Casualtie, then the ij quarters salarie to stand as void to such tyme as the reparacion be maid. And if it hapen the said churchwardens lett the said house willfully dekay, etc., then it shall be levefull for my executors or their assignes to sell it, and the mony therof shall be distributed yerly to a preest to syng in the said church of St. Marys so long as the mony will endure. 6 July, 1525. I Mich' Clerc' of Saltefletby peter, etc. To be buryd in the church yerd of St. peter. I will that Agnes my wiffe have my house that I dwell in as long as she liffeth if she keape hir a widow, and aftre hir decesse I will it reman to John my son and to the heirs of his body. And if Agnes my wiffe taike a housbond, then I will that John my son have the said house to hym and his heires, and for default of issue I will that it shall goo to an obytt yerely to be doyn in the church of St. Peter of Salteflet by. I will that the said Agnes, and after hir the said John and his heirs, that occupieth the said howse shall give yerly in almos to power people ijs. viijd. to the pover people of the same parishe in the tyme of Lenten, and so from yere to yere for ever, etc. Witnesses, Tho' Brugh, John Thomson, with others.

20 July, 1525. I William Samesbery makys my last will, etc. I will that all my landes and tenementes wych is in my deed off feoffment beryng date the xixth day of July, xvij Henry viii, go to the use off thys my will as the forsayd deyd playnly doyth expresse. To Elizabeth my wyff for the terme off hyr lyff the house that I dwell in in Cadney wyth iij stayng off yng' lying in too placys in weste karre; also a messe and a tofft with all the appurtenance within the town and feld off owsome to such tyme as my chylder cum to full age off xv yeres. And after my sayd wyff decease I will that my said feoffys stande styll seasyd of all the landes and tenementes as in my ded off feoffment more playnly doyth appere, that is to say, I will that my doughters Margaret and Isabell have my cheyff messe in owsome wyth the landes and medows therto belongyng to them and there heyres for ever. I will that Jenet my doughter have a tofft buyldyd in owsome, with a close off woode and common therto belongyng to hyr and hyr heyres for ever. To Agnes my doughter a tofft in Cadney, with iij stayng off medow lying in weste carre, to hyr and hyr heires for ever. I will that Elizabeth my wyff have all the rentes of all the landes and tenementes in Glamfordbryges wych I have for terme off yeres, off thys condycyon that she cause to be paid to an honest prest xs. for on trentall every seconde yere, the oon halff to be sayd in the church off Bygby and the other halffe in the chapell off glamford bryg callyd saynt John chapell, yff so be it may be forborne for the reparacions, for the soulys off me the sayd William, margaret and John Medley. 8 November, 1525. I Isabel Wright of Whaplod, widow, etc. To be buried in the churchyard of St. Mary of Whaplod. To the high altar there for tithes forgotten iiijd. To every altar in the said church ijd. To the Lantern light ijd. To the fabric of the same church iijs. iiijd. To the mother church of Lincoln iijd. To the orphans of St. Katherine without the walls of Lincoln iijd.

This is the last wyll of me above named, maid the day and yere abovewritten. I will that my house which I dwell in the day of my departyng be sold accordyng to my husbandes will, and it to be proclamed in Whaplod church and, proclamacion so maid, then I will if John my sone may be able to by itt or any frende for hym that he have it better chepe than any other shold have. 30 November, 1525, 17 Henry VIII. I Johan Kay of stixwold widow, late wiffe of William Kay late of Lincoln gent. make my present testament and last will. My body to be humate and buryed in the chauncell of our lady within the monastery of Nonnes of Stixwold nygh the grave of Robert Kay late my sonn if it fortune or happen me ther to decesse And if it fortune me to dissease att lincoln then I will my said body to be humate and buryed in the parish church ther called St. Peter at the Arches under the thrugh or grave ston of my husband. In the name of my mortuary or principall as it is accustomed, etc. To our lades warke of lincoln a payr of beades of awmbre gawded with sylver. To every house or place of the iij ordres of ffreeres in lincoln iijs. iiijd. To the great gild in lincoln ijs. To the roode light of St. peters church att tharches xxs. To v prestes to say v messes of the v principall wondes of our lord Jhesu Christ the day of my buryall xxd. I will that a preest syng for my soule immediatly after my disseasse within the said monastery of Stixwold by the space of oon hole yere and he to have for his stipend and salarie vl. and he to say every day duryng the said hole yere for my soule the soules of my late husband my childern my present benefactors and all crysten soules Placebo dirige and comendac'on with ix lessons [folio 29] (if he be in helth that he so may convenyently doo). I will that ther be an obitt kept and holden for the soule of my late husband and my childern the day off his Anniverserie at lincoln in the said church called St. peters at the Arches by the space of xxti yeres immediatly folowyng my dissease with Placebo and dirige and commendacion with ix lessons, at which said obitt I will ther be vj preestes and the parishe Clerk and Messe of Requiem, and every preest to have for the same iiijd., And the said parishe clerk iiijd. I will that at the said obitt ther be an hersse sett and iiij serges of wax about the said hersse to burn all the tyme of the service and the parson to fynd thaym and he to have for them iiijd. and jd. for the hede messe penny. Also I will that ther be spent and disposed in bread and ale at the same xijd. and in Chese iiijd. And in breade over that to be distributed emonges pore peple ther beyng ixd., the said money to be delyvered by the priores off the said monastery of Stixwold for the tyme beyng or hir depute duryng the said term of xxti yeres to the haundes of the Churchwardons off the said church called St. Peters church afforsaid, the said church wardens to distribute the said money in manner and forme above rehersed, And they to have for their labors and busynes aboute the same iiijd. And for the performance of the said obitt I will that ther be delyvered to the priores and convent of the said monastery of Stixwold vl. And they to send every yere to the said church wardons att the day of the said Anniversarie so to be holden and kept duryng the said term of xx yeres the said money above expressed and particulerly lymyted to be expended att the said obitt. And if the said church wardons willnot keape and holde the said obitt as in distributyng vs. ijd. in forme afforsaid then I will the vs. ijd. be delyvered to the wardon of the house of the gray ffreers in lincoln he to distribute it emonges his brethern of the same house and aftre the forme afforsaid. I will that Dame Helen Kay my doughter now priores off the said monastery of Stixwold and hir Successours ther Prioresses after hir kepe and holde or cause to be kepte and holden yerly after my disseasse for the term of lxxxxvj yeres Imediatly folowyng and fully to be fynyshed and ended an obitt for my soule and all my frendes and all crysten soules in the said monastery of Stixwold in manner and forme folowyng, that is to say at myn obitt day that the priores and Convent ther for the tyme beyng shall [folio 29d.] syng Placebo and dirige with ix lessons, And they to have for the same, the priores viijd. and every Nonne iiijd. 20 March, 1525. I Sir John Greves, parish prest of Wadyngton, etc. My body to be buryed in the qweer of the church of Wadyngton. My mortuary as the law doth requier. To our lady werk of Lincoln xijd. To my fader my sored horsse. To my sister Catheryn the copye of my house with all the landes therto belongyng reddy sawen duryng hir liffe, and then to remayn to the church off Wadyngton for ever. To the said Catheryne all my houshold stuffe with in the dores and the best Cow that she will choose, and to every oon of hir children v sheip. To every of my brethern and systers oon quarter of barley and v shepe. To every oon of my godchilder oon shepe. To Alice Hamond, Robert Hamond and Richerd Newcom ether of theym oon shepe. The Residew of my goodes I committ to the custodye of my father, whom I mayke myne executour to distribute for the helth of my soule.
