Message to H. C. with Bills; and about the Adjournment of the Houses.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Edmond Peirce and Mr. Hobarte:
To deliver to them the Bill concerning the disbanding of the Army, with some Alterations and a Proviso, wherein their Concurrence is desired.
2. To deliver to them the Bill for raising Seventy Thousand Pounds per Mensem; and to let them know, that the Lords do agree to the same.
3. To acquaint them, that whereas they did desire His Majesty might be moved to defer the Day of the Adjournment of both Houses for some small Time, that the Lords did thereupon send to the King, who is pleased to give further Time until Tuesday Morning next; at which Time His Majesty will come and pass such Bills es are ready.
Sir G. Lane's Bill.

Sabran's Nat. Bill.
The Earl of North'ton reported the Bill concerning the Naturalizing of Renee Sabran, as fit to pass, with some small Alterations; which, being read Twice, were Agreed to, and ordered to be ingrossed.
L. Stafford versus Walker.
Upon reading the Petition of William Viscount of Stafford; shewing, "That one John Walker, of the Town of Bedford, hath entered into his Lordship's Lands in Bedfordshire, which he conceives to be a Breach of the Privilege of Peers:"
It is ORDERED, That the said John Walker shall appear before this House on the 6th Day of November next, to answer his Offence; and then this House will take the same into further Consideration.
Sir G. Lane's Bill.
The Earl of Bristoll reported from the Committee, Sir George Lane's Bill, as fit to pass as it is.
Thereupon the House ordered the same to be ingrossed.
E. of Lauderdale versus Ireton.
The Counsel between the Earl Lauderdal and Alderman Ireton were heard, at this Bar.
And after some Consideration thereof: It is ORDERED, That the further Consideration of this Business is put off until the next Meeting after the Adjournment of both Houses; and then the Copyholders, and all other Persons therein concerned, are to be heard, by their Counsel, at this Bar.
Bill for restoring Ministers.
The Lord Wharton reported from the Committee, the Bill concerning restoring and confirming of Ministers in Livings, with Alterations and Provisos; which Alterations and Provisos were read Twice, and approved of; and then the said Bill was read the Third Time, with the Alterations and Provisos.
And the Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass as a Law, with these Alterations and Provisos?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Potts Knight:
To let their Lordships know, that they intend to fit this Afternoon, and desire their Lordships would please to fit likewise.
2. To let their Lordships know, that the Bill concerning Patents hath been read Twice, and stands committed; and they desire their Lordships would do the like by the Bill for Ministers, the Bill for College Leases, and the Bill for confirming of Magna Charta.
3. To desire their Lordships Concurrence in an Order to move His Majesty to issue out a Proclamation for paying the Arrears of Excise.
Read, and Agreed to.
The Answer returned was:

That this House will fit this Afternoon, as is desired:
That their Lordships do agree in the Order now brought up; and their Lordships will take the Bills mentioned into Consideration.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Edmond Peirce and Doctor Bennet:
To deliver to them the Bill for confirming of Ministers; and desire their Concurrence in the Alterations and Provisos.
2. To deliver to them Sir George Lane's Bill, and desire their Concurrence therein.
The King to be moved for a Proclamation to enforce the Payment of Excise.
"Resolved, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled,
"That, in respect of the Obstructions in collecting and levying the Duty of Excise, and the Arrears thereof, both in London and the several Counties of England and Wales, His Majesty is hereby humbly desired forthwith to issue out His Proclamation, requiring all His Subjects in England and Wales (that are liable to pay Excise) to conform unto the Rules, Regulations, and Powers (whereby that Imposition hath been levied), in paying the same, with all the Arrears, not pardoned by the Act of General Pardon, Indemnity, and Oblivion, for Satisfaction of the great Payments charged thereupon; and that the Justices of the Peace of the respective Counties (for Removal of the said Obstructions) do vigorously proceed in putting such of the Rules and Powers as are under their Cognizance in Execution."
E. of Lauderdale versus Ireton.
Upon hearing of the Counsel of John Earl of Lauderdail Plaintiff, and John Ireton Alderman of London Defendant, at this Bar, concerning a Copyhold Messuage and Lands in Highgate, and several Messuages in Aldersgate-street, London; and after some Debate and Consideration of the Matter:
It is ORDERED, &c. That the further Consideration of this Cause is hereby put off until the next Meeting after the Adjournment of this House; and then the Copyholders and all other Persons herein concerned are to have timely Notice, who are to be further heard at this Bar.

2. An Act to prevent Frauds and Concealments of His Majesty's Customs and Subsidies.
3. An Act for the enabling the Soldiers now to be disbanded to exercise Trades.
4. An Act for the levying of certain Monies due upon the Collection for the Protestants of Piedmont.

ORDERED, That Viscount Purbeck be released of his present Restraint, * giving such Security by Bond as Mr. Attorney General shall approve, to the Value of Ten Thousand Pounds, to appear before the Lords in Parliament when he shall be required.
Message to H. C. for a Conference about the Bill for restoring Ministers.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Temple Baronet:
To desire a Conference, concerning the Amendments sent down in the Bill for Ministers.

That their Lordships will give them a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber.
Cary versus Cromwell.
ORDERED, That the Cause between Mr. Cary and Mrs. Cromwell shall be heard, on the 22 Day of November, by Counsel on both Sides.
The Lord Chancellor, the Lord Treasurer, the Earl Portland, and the Lord Wharton, are appointed to report this next Conference.
Rodney and Stewkley.
ORDERED, That this House will take into Consideration To-morrow Morning (if the House be at Leisure) what Judgement to give in the Case between Rodney and Steukley.
Conference about the Bill for restoring Ministers.
The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference; which being ended, the House was resumed.
ORDERED, That the Report of this Conference shall be made To-morrow Morning.
Order to release L. Purbeck upon Bail.
It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Viscount Purbecke shall be, and is by virtue of this Order, freed from his present Restraint or Imprisonment, paying his Fees, and entering into Bond in the Sum of Ten Thousand Pounds unto the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House, to make his Appearance before the Lords in Parliament within Ten Days after Notice which shall be given him, or left at his House, or Place of Abode; any former Proceeding to the contrary notwithstanding.
Order for Noel, and Teames' Executors, to attend about the Piedmont Collection.
ORDERED, by the Lords in Parliament assembled, That Martin Noell, of London, Esquire, and the Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, of Nathaniell Teames, late of London, Alderman, deceased, be, and are hereby, required to appear before the Lords Committees, in the Prince's Lodgings, near the Parliament House, on Tuesday the 11th of this Instant September, before Eight of the Clock in the Morning; who are to shew Cause why they should not pay those Monies that were collected for the poor Protestants of Piedmont: And hereof he may not fail.
