Message from the King, about a Recess.

The Lord Chancellor acquainted this House with a Message from the King: "That His Majesty did hope both Houses should have had a Recess before this Time; but His Majesty is resolved to come on Monday Morning next, to pass such Bills as are ready, and then to make a Recess."

Mllitia Bill.

The Duke of Albemarle reported from the Committee, the Bill for settling the Forces of this Kingdom; with a Proviso and some Alterations; which were read Twice, and Agreed to.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An additional Act for the better ordering the Forces in the several Counties of this Kingdom."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill, with the Alterations and Proviso now read, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with it; and with Two other Bills.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Bird and Sir William Glascock:

To return the Bill for settling the Forces of this Kingdom, wherein their Lordships have made some Alterations, and desire their Concurrence therein.

Also to let them know, that the Lords have passed the Bill to prohibit Butchers from selling fat Cattle, and the Bill for regulating Select Vestries:

Message from thence, with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Charles Harbord and others; who brought up a Bill for the restraining Pluralities, and Increase of the Maintenance of Curates.

Bill for Encouragement of Trade.

ORDERED, That the Bill for encouraging of Trade be reported To-morrow Morning, the First Business.

Bill for better collecting the Excise.

This Day being appointed to debate further upon the Bill against Sectaries;

The Question being put, "Whether the Bill for preventing unlawful Meetings of Sectaries shall be committed?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That this Bill against unlawful Meetings of Sectaries, &c. shall be committed to a Committee of the whole House.

And accordingly the whole House was presently adjourned into a Committee, to consider of the said Bill.

And, after some Debate, the House was resumed; and it is ORDERED, That this House shall proceed in this Bill To-morrow Morning.

ORDERED, That the Lord Berkley of Stratton is added to the Committee for the Bill concerning Herring Fishing.

Adjourn.
