His Royal Highness the Duke of Yorke reported, That the Committee have considered the Bill for the better Payment of the Monies received for the Use of the Crown; and they think it fit to pass as it is."

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for the better Payment of Monies received for the Use of the Crown."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Wymondsall's Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act on the Behalf of Dawes Wymondsall Esquire, for settling certain Customary Lands, held of the Manor of Wimbleton, in the County of Surrey."

The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

(fn. 1) A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Clifford and others; who said, He was commanded by the House of Commons to deliver their Lordships this Vote following:

Message to H. C. that the Lords have passed Two Bills.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir William Childe and Doctor Crofts:

To let them know, that this House hath passed the Bill for the better Payment of Monies received for the Use of the Crown, and also hath passed the Bill concerning Dawes Wymondsall Esquire.

King present.

The King sitting in His Royal Throne, adorned with His Crown and other Regal Ornaments, the Peers sitting also in their Robes; His Majesty gave Command to the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, to signify His Pleasure to the House of Commons, "That they come up presently with their Speaker, and attend Him."

The House of Commons being come; their Speaker humbly presented His Majesty, from the House of Commons, a Bill for raising Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Pounds, by an Imposition on Wines and other Liquors; which Bill the Clerk of the Parliaments received from the Speaker, and brought it to the Table; which received the Royal Assent, with other Bills following; the Clerk of the Crown reading the Titles, and the Clerk of the Parliaments pronouncing the Royal Assent, according to the several Nature of the Bills:

Bills passed.

"1. An Act for raising Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Pounds, by an Imposition on Wines and other Liquors."

To which the Royal Assent was pronounced, in these Words,

"Le Roy, remerciant Ses bons Subjects, accepte leur Benevolence, et ainsi le veult."

"2. An additional Act against the Importation of Foreign Cattle."

"3. An Act for the better Payment of Monies received for the Use of the Crown."

"4. An Act for proceeding to Judgement on Writs of Error brought in the Exchequer."

"5. An Act for giving Liberty to buy and export Leather and Skins tanned or dressed."

"6. An Act for the Increase and Preservation of Timber, within the Forest of Deane."

"7. An Act to regulate the Trade of Silk Throwing."

To which Bills the Royal Assent was pronounced to each several Bill, in these Words,

"12. An Act for Confirmation of the Settlement of the Estate of Sir Kingsmill Lucy Baronet, in the said Act mentioned; and for transferring over some Parts of the Real Estate of Sir Richard Lucy Knight and Baronet, deceased, from Francis Lucy Esquire."

"13. An Act to confirm an Agreement between William Paston Esquire, Lord of the Manor of Horton, and the Tenants of the said Manor, for an Enclosure of Part of the Wastes of the said Manor, for the Preservation and Growth of Wood and Timber."

"14. An Act for enabling of Sir William Juxon Knight and Baronet, Executor of the last Will and Testament of William Juxon late Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, to recover Part of his Estate."

"15. An Act for the better securing a Portion of Five Thousand Pounds to and for the Lady Francis Savile, and Infant, Daughter of Thomas late Earl of Sussex, deceased, out of Part of the Estate of James Earl of Sussex, also an Infant, in Pursuance of the Will of the said Thomas Earl of Sussex."

"16. An Act for enabling Trustees to make Leases, for Payment of the Debts, and providing for the Children, of Sir Charles Stanley."

"17. An Act for enabling the Execution of a Trust, for Payment of the Debts, and providing for the Younger Children, of Richard Taylor Esquire, deceased."

"18. An Act on the Behalf of Dawes Wymondsall Esquire, for settling certain Customary Lands, held of the Manor of Wimbleton, in the County of Surrey."

To which Private Bills the Royal Assent was pronounced to each several Bill, in these Words,

This being done, His Majesty made a short Speech, to the Effect following:

The King's Speech.

"My Lords and Gentlemen,

"I came hither purposely to pass some Acts which are now ready, and to thank you for the Supply you have now given Me; which I hope will be sufficient, our Neighbours being now agreed upon Articles of Peace. I cannot chuse but take Notice of what I hear abroad, of some Differences between both Houses, touching the East India Company. I am as sensible of the Privileges of the House of Peers (wherein I am concerned) as I am of the Liberty of the House of Commons. But I hope, in this Recess, there may be some Means found out for an Accommodation therein.

"I am willing you should adjourn to the Eleventh Day of August next; and if there be no pressing Occasion of your Meeting then, I will give you timely Notice by Proclamation."

His Majesty being withdrawn, the Lords proceeded to the Dispatch of the particular Business following:

Deeping Fen Bill.

Whereas there is a Bill depending in this House, intituled, "An additional Act for the better draining of Deeping Fenn, in the County of Lyncolne," which hath been Once read; but, by reason of Shortness of Time, the Lords could not proceed further therein at the present:

It is ORDERED, That the said Bill shall be read the Second Time on the First Day of the next Sitting of this House, in order to the perfecting thereof.

Herbert versus Lloyd.

Whereas, upon Report made by the Lord Ashley, from the Lords Committees, appointed to receive and consider of Petitions, the Cause now depending in this House, upon the Petition of William Herbert Esquire, and the Answer of Sir Charles Lloyd Baronet thereunto, was, on the 22th Day of April last, appointed to be heard, by Counsel on both Parts, at the Bar, on Wednesday the 29th Day of the said Month of April:

It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Cause shall be heard, by Counsel on both Parts, at the Bar, on the Second Tuesday after the next Sitting of this House, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof all Parties are to have Notice, to the End they may come prepared accordingly.
