Papists, who stay in London, to be secured.

This House being informed, "That several Papists, and reputed Papists, do, contrary to the Orders of this House, presume to stay in the Cities of London and Westminster, and the Liberties thereof:"

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Sir William Waller do secure, or cause to be secured, all such Papists, or reputed Papists; and return their Names to the Committee to whom is referred the Consideration of this Matter.

To all Mayors, Sheriffs, Bailiffs, Constables, and other His Majesty's Officers, to be aiding and assisting in the Execution hereof.

Le Port, a Papist, to be attached.

Upon Oath made at the Bar of this House, by Mary Crooke, "That James Le Port, a Papist, hath said, That he would not leave the Town; and that he should find better Friends to keep him here than she could to remove him:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman Usher attending this House do forthwith attach the Body of the said James Le Port, and bring him in safe Custody to the Bar of this House; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To Sir Tho. Duppa, Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, his Deputy and Deputies.

Baker, in Custody for the E. of Essex's Death, to be discharged.

The House being moved, "That Benjamine Baker, now in Custody of the Gentleman Usher attending this House, may be discharged, having been examined by the Lords of the Committee concerning the Death of the late Earl of Essex:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Benjamin Baker be, and is hereby, discharged from any further Restraint concerning this Matter; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

Clarke, who brought a Message to the E. of Peterborough, to be secured.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House do secure, or cause to be secured, Robert Clark, who brought a Message to the Earl of Peterborough, now Prisoner in The Tower, from beyond the Seas; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.

To Sir Tho. Duppa, Gentleman Usher attending this House, his Deputy and Deputies.

A Bill was presented this House; which was received, and read:

Dissenters Toleration Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for exempting Their Majesties Protestant Subjects, dissenting from the Church of England, from the Penalties of certain Laws."
