Exportation of Leather, Bill.

The Lord North reported from the Committee, a small Amendment in the Bill for reviving Two former Acts for exporting of Leather.

Shoemakers, &c. to be heard against it.

ORDERED, That the Shoemakers and Tanners shall be heard, by their Counsel, at the Bar of this House, on Thursday next, being the 13th Instant, before the Third Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for reviving Two former Acts for exporting of Leather."

Oaths to be taken by Officers in the Army, Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to regulate the Administration of the Oaths, required to be taken by Commission or Warrant Officers employed by His Majesty's Service by Land, by virtue of an Act made the present Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for the abrogating of the Oaths of Supremacy and Allegiance, and appointing other Oaths."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass for a Law?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Exportation of Beer, &c. Bill.

The Lord North reported, "That the Committee for the Bill for exporting of Beer, Ale, Cyder, and Mum, have considered of the said Bill; and do think it fit to pass as it is."

And the Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass for a Law?"

Message to H. C. that the Lords have passed it; and with the Army Oaths Bill.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Sir John Hoskins:

1. To deliver the Bill for regulating the administering of Oaths, &c. and desire Concurrence to the same.

2. To acquaint them, that this House agree to the Bill for exporting Beer, Ale, Cyder, and Mum.

Orme versus Sir J. Gell et al.

The House being moved, on the Behalf of Sir Edward Littleton Baronet, and others, Defendants to the Petition and Appeal of Thomas Orme Esquire, for a Day of hearing the said Cause:

It is ORDERED, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel on both Sides, at the Bar, on Friday next, being the 14th Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Sir J. Mill versus Noy et al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Sir John Mill Baronet, against a Decree made in the Court of Chancery, by the late Lord Jefferyes, the 28th of June, 1687, at the Suit of Hester Noy, Alathea Goston, Jane Harris, Dame Margarett Mill Executrix of Dame Margery Fortescue, and Henry Son and Heir of Mary Savage; and praying an Answer may be put in thereunto:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Hester Noy, Alathea Goston, Jane Harris, Dame Margarett Mill Executrix of Dame Margery Fortescue, and Henry Son and Heir of Mary Savage, may have a Copy or Copies of the said Appeal; and be, and are hereby, required to put in their Answer, or respective Answers, thereunto in Writing, on Saturday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof Sir John Mill is to cause Notice to be given to the Defendants, by leaving a Copy of this Order with their Clerk in Chancery.

D. of Graston versus L. C. Justice Pollexten.

ORDERED, That Mr. John Tench, Mr. Edmond Clench, Mr. John Bently, Mr. Nicholas Horseman, be, and are hereby, required to attend this House, to be sworn, in order to their being examined at the Committee for Privileges this Afternoon, on the Behalf of his Grace the Duke of Grafton.

Sir Sam. Bernadiston versus Lady Soames, in Error.

(fn. 1) This Day being appointed for hearing Errors argued by Counsel, upon the Writ of Errors, between Sir Samuell Barnadiston and the Lady Soames; the Counsel for the Plaintiff were present, but none appeared for the Defendant; and upon Oath made at the Bar, by Nicholas Baker Solicitor, "That he served the Order of this House, at the House of the Lady Soames; thereby giving Notice, that the Cause was to be heard this Day:"

Whereupon the House heard the Counsel of the Plaintiff, and made the ensuing Order; videlicet,

"After hearing Counsel this Day, upon the Writ of Error depending in this House, wherein Sir Samuell Bernadiston is Plaintiff, and Dame Elizabeth Soame is Defendant: It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, The giving Judgement upon this Writ of Error be, and is hereby, suspended until Monday next; and that those that were or are Judges, and now in Town, do attend this House on that Day, to inform this House of their Reasons and Grounds for their Judgement, for Reversal of the Judgement in Sir Samuell Bernadiston's Case."

ORDERED, That all the Judges be present, on Monday Morning, to assist this House in this Business of Sir Sam. Bernadiston.

Persons to be bound over, concerning the E. of Essex's Death.

Whereas there are several Persons, that have given Evidence to the Lords Committees for examining concerning the Death of the late Earl of Essex:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Tempoporal in Parliament assembled, That the Court of King's Bench do bind over the said Persons until Michaelmas Terme next.

Bill to reverse Cornish's Attainder.

Letters from absent Lords read.

Next, the House took a Survey of what Letters had been sent to the Speaker by the absent Lords, for excusing their not attending this House:

The Duke of Newcastle's Letter was read.

The Lord Conyers' Letter was read.

The Earl of Exon's Letter was read.

The Earl of Clarendon's Letter was read.

The Earl of Yarmouth's Letter was read.

Allen's Account of Lord Griffin.

The House did also take an Account of John Allen; who was sworn at the Bar, and gave the Account following:

"That he did, on the 4th of June Instant, wait Two or Three Days near Dingley Hall, in Northamptonshire, and made diligent Enquiry for Edward Lord Griffin; but not hearing of him, he delivered the Copy of the Order for the said Lord Griffin unto Edward Ketchford, Bailiff to the said Lord Griffin; and the said Ketchford made Answer, That he heard that his Lord was taken Prisoner One Hundred and Fifty Miles from that Place; and the said Ketchford gave his Receipt for the said Copy of the Order."

Upon this, it is ORDERED, To be referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges, to examine what hath been done as to the sending for Lords in Custody; and report to the House.

Address for a Proclamation to summon Ld. Griffin.

ORDERED, That it is referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges, to draw up a Form of an Address, fit to be presented to Their Majesties, for issuing out a Proclamation, for summoning Edward Lord Griffin to render himself by a certain Day.
