Land Tax Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for a Grant to Their Majesties of an Aid of Twelve Pence in the Pound, for One Year, for the necessary Defence of Their Realms."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of this Bill is committed to a Committee of the whole House; To-morrow, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Tunstal versus Smith in Error.

The Lord Chief Justice of the Court of King's Bench brought in the Transcript of a Writ of Error, wherein Tunstall is Plaintiff, and Smith is Defendant.

Message from H. C. for a Conference on the Commissioners of the Great Seal Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. John Howe and others;

To desire a Conference, concerning the Amendments in the Bill for enabling the Commissioners of the Great Seal to execute the Office of the Lord Chancellor or Lord Keeper.

The Answer returned was:

Answer.

That this House agrees to a Conference, upon the Subject-matter desired; and appoints the same to be To-morrow, at Twelve of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber.

King's Answer concerning Minute Book of the Committee for Irish Affairs.

The Lord Great Chamberlain reported, "That the Lords with White Staves have attended His Majesty with the Address of this House, that He will be pleased to give Order that the Minute Books of the Committee for the Irish Affairs, to the First Day of May last, may be communicated to the Committee of this House, in order to their Information concerning the Miscarriages of Ireland: And His Majesty's Answer is, That He will consider of it."

Intercepted Letters.

The Lord President acquainted the House, "That he was commanded by the King, to let their Lordships know, that He had received some Letters that were intercepted in Lancashire, upon a Person that lately came out of Ireland; and the Letters being of that Consequence, He thought fit to communicate them to both Houses of Parliament."

The Letters were read.

Message to H. C. to fit a while.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Mr. Metwin:

That the Lords desire the Commons would sit a while, for they have some Matters of Consequence to communicate unto them.

The Messengers return with this Answer:

Answer.

That the Commons will sit a while, as is desired.

Message to H. C. with intercepted Letters:

ORDERED, That these Letters and Papers be communicated to the House of Commons.

And accordingly they were sent presently, by Sir Miles Cooke and Mr. Metwin.

Thanks to the King, for communicating them.

ORDERED, That the Lords with White Staves do attend His Majesty, with the humble Thanks of this House, for communicating to them the Letters and Papers from Irelande.

Price's Bill.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Counsel which was to be heard To-morrow, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act to empower Roger Price Esquire to make a Jointure to his Wife, out of the Manor of Westbury, in the County of Bucks," shall be heard on Monday next, the 24th Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the Petitioners are to cause Notice to be given to the said Roger Price, to the End he attend accordingly.

Intercepted Letters.

Upon reading this Day several Letters and Papers sent by His Majesty to this House, which were intercepted from Ireland:

It is ORDERED, That this House will, on Friday Morning next, take into Consideration what is fit to be done upon the said Letters and Papers.

Committee for Privileges.

ORDERED, That the Committee for Privileges do meet this Afternoon, at Four of the Clock.

Orme versus Sir J. Gell, Sir B. Broughton, & al.

ORDERED, That this House will hear Counsel, upon the Petition of Thomas Orme Esquire, and the Answers thereunto, on Thursday the 27th Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Popham's Children to illegitimate, Bill.

ORDERED, That all Persons concerned shall be heard, by their Counsel, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the illegitimating of Four of the Children of Briliana Popham, deceased, late Wife of Alexander Popham, of Borton, in the County of Gloucester, Esquire," on Wednesday the 26th Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.
