Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Boscawen and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for lessening the Duty upon Tin and Pewter exported; and granting an Equivalent for the same, by a Duty upon Drugs;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Tin and Drugs, Duties, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for lessening the Duty upon Tin and Pewter exported; and granting an Equivalent for the same, by a Duty upon Drugs."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be read a Second Time on Tuesday next; and all the Lords summoned to attend.

Message from H. C. for a Conference, on the Bill to prevent buying and selling Offices.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Spencer and others:

To desire a Conference, upon the Subject-matter of the Amendments made by this House to the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent the buying and selling Offices and Places of Trust."

To which the House agreed.

Answer.

Then the Commons were called in; and told, "That the Lords agree to a Conference, as desired; and appoint it presently, in the Painted Chamber."

And thereupon the Lords following were named to be Reporters of the Conference; (videlicet,)

Booth versus E. of Warrington.

Upon reading this Day the Replication of Cecill Booth Esquire to the Answer of the Earl of Warrington:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Warrington may have a Copy thereof; and that this House will hear One Counsel on either Side on Wednesday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Militia Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for raising the Militia for the Year One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-seven, although the Month's Pay formerly advanced be not re-paid."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Report of the Conference on the Bill against buying and selling Offices.

The Commons being come to the Conference, the Reporters Names were read; and the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

And the Lord President reported, "That the Lords had attended at the Conference; and that he was ready to make the Report."

ORDERED, That the Report of the Conference had this Day with the House of Commons, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent the buying and selling Offices and Places of Trust," shall be made on Tuesday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Relief of Creditors in Cases of Escapes, and to prevent Abuses in Prisons, Bill.

The Earl of Rochester reported from the Committee the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual Relief of Creditors in Cases of Escapes, and for preventing Abuses in Prisons and other pretended Privileged Places," as fit to pass, with several Amendments.

ORDERED, That the Report made this Day from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual Relief of Creditors in Cases of Escapes, and for preventing Abuses in Prisons and other pretended Privileged Places," shall be taken into Consideration on Tuesday next.

Hannah Knight's Marriage, to annul, Bill.

After hearing Counsel, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act for annulling the Marriage of Hannah Knight, an Infant, and directing the Guardianship of the said Infant:"

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for annulling the Marriage of Hannah Knight, an Infant, and directing the Guardianship of the said Infant."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, presently.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Undue Marriages of Infants, to prevent, Bill.

Hodie 1^a et 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to prevent undue Marriages of Infants, and for better securing the Guardianship of them."

ORDERED, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Sir Thomas Littleton and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Sweets, Cyder, and Perry, as well towards carrying on the War against France, as for the necessary Expence of His Majesty's Houshold, and other Occasions;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Coin, to prevent the counter feiting of Bill.

The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing the counterfeiting the current Coin of this Kingdom," several Amendments made to the said Bill.

Which, being read Three Times, were agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.
