Message from H. C. for a Conference on the Bill for remedying the ill State of the Coin.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Henry Hubbart and others:

To desire a Conference, upon the Subject-matter of the Amendments made by this House to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further remedying the ill State of the Coin of the Kingdom."

To which the House agreed.

Answer.

And the Commons were called in; and told, "That the Lords agree to a Conference, as desired; and appoint it presently, in the Painted Chamber."

Conference reported:

The Commons being come to the Conference; the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

Lords do not adhere to their Amendments:

And the Duke of Somerset reported, "That the Lords had attended the Conference, and received the Bill from the Commons, intituled, "An Act for the further remedying the ill State of the Coin of the Kingdom," with their Lordships Amendments made thereto, to which the Commons do not agree."

And, after some Debate thereupon,

The Question was put, "Whether this House shall insist upon their Amendments to the said Bill?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

To let them know, that the Lords do not insist upon their Amendments made to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the further remedying the ill State of the Coin of the Kingdom."

The House being this Day satisfied, by the Oath of the Deputy Serjeant at Arms, and the Certificate of Dr. Hanns, of the Inability of the Lord Viscount Sey and Sele to attend the Service of the House:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Viscount Sey and Sele shall be, and is hereby, excused his Attendance.

Answer to the Address concerning Sir John Fenwick's Papers.

The Lord Chamberlain acquainted the House, "That he had attended His Majesty, with the Address: And His Majesty's Answer was, That the Papers delivered Yesterday by the Lord Steward were all the Papers or Informations he received concerning Sir John Fenwick."

And the Lord Wharton also acquainted the House, "That, by His Majesty's Order, he had brought a Letter writ in Black Lead, and a Copy of it."

Which Copy being read, both were delivered to the Lord Keeper.

Commissioners of the Admiralty to give an Account concerning the Privateers going to Newfoundland;

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Commissioners of the Admiralty do, with all convenient Speed, give this House an Account in Writing, whether they had any Intelligence of the Privateers Design of going to Newfoundland, or any Part of The West Indies; and what Care was taken to secure Newfoundland, and our other Plantations and Trade in those Parts, against the Enemy.

and of the Effect of the Act for registering Seamen.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Commissioners of the Admiralty do give this House an Account, in Writing, with all convenient Speed, what Effect the late Act for registering Seamen has had; and if there have been any Obstructions therein; and what they can propose for remedying those Obstructions.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That some of the Commissioners of the Admiralty do attend the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Answer received this Day from the Commissioners of the Admiralty, pursuant to the Orders of the Seven and Twentieth of November last, To-morrow, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers.

Sir George Rooke's Books.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Nine Books delivered this Day by Sir George Rooke be kept by the Clerk; and any Lord of this House to have Recourse to them, in any Room near the House of Peers, in the Presence of the Clerk, who is to give Sir George Rooke a Receipt for them.

Bull to enter into Recognizance for Eastmond.

The House being moved, "That Mr. Charles Bull may be permitted to enter into a Recognizance for Joseph Eastmond, upon his Appeal depending in this House, he being in the Country:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Charles Bull may enter into a Recognizance for the said Joseph Eastmond, as desired.
