Raper & al. against the Bill for additional Duties on Whale-Fins and Scotch Linen.

Upon reading the Petition of Henry Raper and others, Merchants trading to Scotland, in Behalf of themselves and many others, Traders in the Woollen and other Manufactures of England; praying, "That they may be heard, by their Counsel, before the passing of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for taking away Half the Duties lately imposed on Glass Wares, and the Whole Duties lately laid on Stone, Earthen Wares, and Tobacco-pipes; and for granting (in Lieu thereof) new Duties upon Whale Fins and Scotch Linen:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall be heard, by their Counsel, as desired, on Monday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Sally Rose Prize, to trade as an English Ship, Bill.

Hodie 1^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to give Leave to the Ship Sally Rose (formerly taken as Prize) to arrive, and import her Lading, and to trade as an English-built Ship."

Ruby and Plymouth Prizes, to trade as English Ships, Bill.

The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Committee the Bill, intituled, "An Act that the Ships called The Ruby Prize and Plymouth may have Freedom of trading as English-built Ships," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act, that the Ships called The Ruby Prize and Plymouth may have Freedom of trading as English-built Ships."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Report concerning the Value of the Estates of Goudet et al.

The Earl of Tankerville having reported from the Lords Committees, appointed to inform themselves of the particular Values of the Estates of the several Persons who have pleaded guilty to the Articles of Impeachments against them, what Account they had received touching the same:

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cooke and Mr. Meredith:

To desire them to sit some Time longer.

Hayward versus Beastall; Wood versus Deane, in Error.

Whereas this Day was appointed for hearing the Errors argued, upon the Writs of Error depending in this House, wherein Robert Hayward and others are Plaintiffs, and Francis Beastall Defendant; the other, wherein Hester Wood and others are Plaintiffs, and James Deane and others Defendants:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear Counsel thereupon on Wednesday next, at Eleven of the Clock.

Answer from H. C.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return Answer:

That they agree to sit some Time longer.

Message to H. C. for Conference about the Impeachment of Goudet et al.:

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Miles Cook and Mr. Meredith:

To desire a present Conference, in the Painted Chamber, upon the Subject-matter of the Impeachments now depending.

Then the House agreed to be delivered at the Conference, as follows; (videlicet,)

Heads for it.

"That the Lords, having sent a Message to the House of Commons on the Eight and Twentieth of June, to acquaint them that their Lordships would proceed to the Trial of the Persons impeached, upon Monday next; and having afterwards acquainted them, that Eight of the said Persons had pleaded guilty; the Lords desired this Conference, to let them know, that so much of their Lordships Time has been necessarily taken up in informing themselves of the Substance of the Persons who have pleaded Guilty, in order to their giving Judgement upon their Crimes, that it will not be possible for the Lords to be ready for the Trial of Peter Longueville upon Monday next."

Then the Lords following were named Managers of the Conference; (videlicet,)

Answer from H. C.

The Messengers sent to the House of Commons return Answer:

That they agree to a Conference, as desired.

Conference reported.

Then, the Managers being come to the Conference, the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Godolphin reported, "That they had delivered to the Commons what they were ordered."

Goudet et al. Fines:

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to consider of what Fines shall be set upon John Goudet and the other Persons, who have confessed themselves Guilty of the Articles of Impeachment against them.

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had thought fit to fine the said Persons, as followeth; (videlicet,)

"John Goudet, Fifteen Hundred Pounds.

"David Barrau, Five Hundred Pounds.

"Stephen Seignoret, Ten Thousand Pounds.

"Reney Baudowin, Three Thousand Pounds.

"Nicholas Santiny, Fifteen Hundred Pounds.

"Peter Diharce, One Thousand Pounds.

"John Pearse, One Thousand Pounds.

"John Dumaistre, One Thousand Pounds.

"And that they be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until they have paid the said Fines; and that John Pearse be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he hath paid his Fine, and One Year afterwards."

To which the House agreed; and ordered as follows:

Goudet's Fine:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That John Goudet do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of Fifteen Hundred Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of Fifteen Hundred Pounds."

Barrau's Fine:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That David Barrau do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of Five Hundred Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of Five Hundred Pounds."

Seignoret's Fine:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Stephen Seignoret do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of Ten Thousand Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of Ten Thousand Pounds."

Baudowin's Fine:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Reney Baudowin do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of Three Thousand Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of Three Thousand Pounds."

Santiny's Fine:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Nicholas Santiny do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of Fifteen Hundred Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of Fifteen Hundred Pounds."

Diharce's Fine:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Peter Diharce do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of One Thousand Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of One Thousand Pounds."

Pearse's Fine; and to be imprisoned a Year:

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That John Pearse do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of One Thousand Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of One Thousand Pounds, and for the Term of One whole Year afterwards."

And Dumaistre's Fine.

"It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That John Dumaistre do pay, or cause to be paid, to His Majesty, the Sum of One Thousand Pounds; and be kept in safe and close Custody, in the Prison of Newgate, until he shall have paid the said Fine of One Thousand Pounds."

Judgements for Crimes and Misdemeanors, Committee to search Precedents of Forms of.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords Committees, appointed to consider of the Method of Proceedings upon Impeachments, do meet on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and consider of the Forms used in giving Judgements upon Impeachments for high Crimes and Misdemeanors; and to report to the House; and that the Lord Chancellor be added to the said Committee.

Bill for settling the Trade to The East Indies.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for raising a Sum not exceeding Two Millions, upon a Fund for Payment of Annuities after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, and for settling the Trade to The East Indias."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill; and think it fit to pass, without any Amendment."

Sally Rose Prize, to trade as an English Ship, Bill.

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be referred to the same Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act that the Ships called The Ruby Prize and Plimouth may have Freedom of trading as Englishbuilt Ships," is referred.

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings.
