Captain Bugdon's Case, Committee to consider of.

Lords Committees appointed to consider of a Paper brought into this House Yesterday, intituled, "The Case of Captain Edmund Bugdon, late Commander of His Majesty's Ship The Jersey;" whose Lordships, having considered thereof, and heard such Persons concerning the same, as they shall think fit, are afterwards to report to the House:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Edward Walrond Esquire and Mr. John Lucas do attend this House Tomorrow, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, to be sworn, in order to prove the Matters alledged in a Paper offered to this House, intituled, "The Case of Captain Edmund Bugdon, late Commander of His Majesty's Ship The Jersey;" and that the Parties concerned do attend the Lords Committees appointed to consider thereof, with all Papers and Records relating thereto.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Gwyn and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Trade to Newfoundland;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to encourage the Trade to Newfoundland."

Protestant Heirs, Papists not to disinherit, Bill.

Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent Settlements made by Papists from disinheriting their Protestant Heirs."

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Bishop of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee had made some Progress in the Bill."

New Bill to be prepared.

ORDERED, That the Lord Chief Justice Treby, Mr. Justice Powell, Mr. Baron Hatsell, Mr. Justice Gould, and Mr. Attorney General, do prepare a Bill, agreeable, as near as may be, to the Title of the said Bill, and the Debate of the House; and present the same, at the Beginning of the next Session of Parliament, to be considered by this House.

Paper, &c. Duties on, Bill:

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty upon Paper, Parchment, Vellum, and Pasteboard, for the Purposes therein mentioned."

The House was resumed.

And the Earl of Bridgewater reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill, and think it fit to pass, with leaving out the last Clause; (videlicet,)

"Press 21. L. 4. Leave out from ["notwithstanding"] to the End of the Bill."

To which the House agreed.

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for laying a Duty upon Paper, Parchment, Vellum, and Pasteboard, for the Purposes therein mentioned."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with an Amendment to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Pitt:

To return the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence to their Lordships Amendment.

A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr Cooper and others:

Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more full and effectual charging the Duties upon Rock Salt;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

ORDERED, That the said Bill be read the Second Time, To-morrow.
