Vaughan's Bill.

The Lord Jeffreys reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable William Vaughan and Frances Vaughan his intended Wife (being both under the Age of One and Twenty Years) to perform Articles made for their Marriage," as fit to pass, without any Amendment.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable William Vaughan and Frances Vaughan his intended Wife (being both under the Age of One and Twenty Years) to perform Articles made for their Marriage."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice, that the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Barkstead's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Jane Barkstead Widow; and vesting several Mortgages and Securities in her, to enable her to convey or assign the same."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Friday the Sixth Day of June next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Bp. Hereford takes the Oaths.

This Day Gilbert Lord Bishop of Hereford took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, pursuant to the Statute.

Lofland & al. Nat. Bill.

The Amendments made to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Adrian Lofland and others," were read Thrice, and agreed to; and ORDERED, That the Commons have Notice thereof.

Cotton Library Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the better settling and preserving the Library kept in the House at Westminster, called Cotton House, in the Name and Family of the Cottons, for the Benefit of the Public."

ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be referred to Mrs. Barkstead's Committee beforementioned; who are to meet To-morrow, at Ten a Clock.

Minehead Harbour Bill:

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the recovering, securing, and keeping in Repair, the Harbour of Minhead, for the Benefit and Support of the Navigation and Trade of this Kingdom."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendments, shall pass?"

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Harcourt and others:

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more speedy Payment of the Creditors of James late Duke of Ormonde, and the present Duke of Ormonde;" to which they have agreed, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Tipping's Bill.

E. Orford's Trial appointed:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That Monday the Ninth Day of June next shall be, and is hereby, appointed for the Trial of Edward Earl of Orford, in Westminster Hall, upon the Articles brought up against him by the House of Commons, whereby he stands charged with several high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Message to H. C. to give Notice of it:

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Robert Legard and Sir John Hoskyns:

To let them know, that this House hath appointed Monday the Ninth Day of June next, for the Trial of Edward Earl of Orford, in Westminster Hall, upon the Articles sent up against him; and that the Commons may reply, if they think fit.

King to be moved, for a Place in Westminster Hall.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Great Chamberlain do attend His Majesty, humbly to acquaint His Majesty, "That this House hath appointed Monday the Ninth Day of June next, for the Trial of Edward Earl of Orford, in Westminster Hall; and humbly to move His Majesty, That He will be pleased to give Order for a Place to be prepared in Westminster Hall, against the said Time, for this House to proceed upon the said Trial."

Message to H. C. concerning the Lords impeached.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Robert Legard and Sir John Hoskyns:

To acquaint them, "That they having, on the First Day of April last, sent up to their Lordships an Impeachment against William Earl of Portland, for high Crimes and Misdemeanors; and having also, on the Fifteenth Day of the same Month, impeached Charles Lord Halifax for high Crimes and Misdemeanors; and there being as yet no particular Articles exhibited against the said Lords; their Lordships think themselves obliged to put them in Mind thereof; which, after Impeachments have so long depended, is a Hardship to the Persons concerned, and not agreeable to the usual Methods and Proceedings of Parliament in such Cases."

Yates versus Lewis.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of James Yates and Mary his Wife, from a Decree made in the Court of Chancery, on the Six and Twentieth Day of April last, in a Cause there depending, wherein one Richard Lewis was Plaintiff, against the Petitioner, and one David Williams and Margaret his Wife, John Jones and Elizabeth his Wife, Defendants; and praying the Reversal of the said Decree; and that the Service of the Respondent's Clerk in Chancery may be good Service:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Richard Lewis may have a Copy of the said Appeal; and shall and he is hereby required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Friday the Sixth Day of June next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that the Service of this Order on the said Richard Lewis's Clerk in Chancery shall be good Service.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Thanks of this House shall be, and are hereby, given to the Lord Bishop of Ely, for his Sermon preached before this House Yesterday, in the Abbey Church at Westminster; and he is hereby desired to print and publish the same.

Time limited for Appeals.

It is ORDERED and Declared, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That, after Monday the Second Day of June next, this House will not receive any more Appeals during this Session.

Sir C. Barrington's Witnesses.

ORDERED, That Sir Charles Barrington have an Order, or Orders, for Witnesses.

New Deale fresh Water, Bill.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for furnishing the Town of New Deale with fresh Water."

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Jeffreys reported, "That the Committee had gone through the said Bill, with some Amendments; and that the Committee is of Opinion, that the Town of New Deale be heard before the Bill be reported."

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Mayor and Inhabitants of the Town of New Deale shall be heard, by their Counsel, (as desired in their Petition) to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for furnishing the Town of New Deale with fresh Water," on Tuesday next, at Eleven a Clock.

King to be acquainted with Bills ready for the Royal Assent.

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lords with White Staves do humbly acquaint His Majesty, from this House, "That the Bills following (with some others) are ready for His Majesty's Royal Assent;" (videlicet,)

1. "An Act for the further Limitation of the Crown, and better securing the Rights and Liberties of the Subject."

2. "An Act for preventing any Inconveniencies that may happen by Privilege of Parliament."
