This Day William Lord Ashburnham sat first in Parliament, upon the Death of his Father John Lord Ashburnham; and took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Baylie versus Rider.

Upon reading the Petition of Priscilla Baylie Widow, Respondent to the Appeal of William Rider Esquire; praying, "That a Day may be appointed for hearing of the Cause upon the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Thursday the Sixteenth Day of this Instant February, at Eleven a Clock.

Este's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of William Este and Elizabeth his Wife, and of Anne Slyford, Mary Slyford, and Johanna Slyford, Infants under the Age of One and Twenty Years, by Thomas Moore their Guardian; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for vesting the Manor of Wells, and divers Messuages, Lands, and Tenements, in the Parishes of Warneham, Itchingfield, Slynford, Horsham, Portslade, Ashington, Washington, Wivesfield, and elsewhere, in the County of Sussex, of the Yearly Value of Two Hundred and Seventy Pounds, or thereabouts, in Trustees, to be sold, for Payment of his Debts:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Consideration of the said Petition shall be, and is hereby, referred to Mr. Justice Dormer and Mr. Baron Lovell; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Berrie's Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate of Thomas Berrie Esquire, deceased, in Trustees, to be sold, for discharging several Mortgages thereupon, and other his Debts, which his Personal Estate will not extend to pay; and for laying out the Surplus-money for the Benefit of his Widow, and Heir at Law,"

Upon the First Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate of Thomas Berrie Esquire, deceased, in Trustees, to be sold, for discharging several Mortgages thereupon, and other his Debts, which his Personal Estate will not extend to pay; and for laying out the Surplus-money for the Benefit of his Widow, and Heir at Law,"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Bill shall be, and is hereby, re-referred to the farther Consideration of the Judges to whom the Petition for bringing in the said Bill was referred; who are to certify their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands.
