PRAYERS.

Bp. Chichester to preach on the Fast Day.

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Lord Bishop of Chichester be, and he is hereby, desired to preach before this House, in the Abbey Church at Westm'r, on Wednesday the Fifteenth Day of March next, being the Day appointed by Her Majesty for a General Fast.

Peeresses to be admitted to the Trial, when they come:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That when any Peeresses, or their Daughters, shall come to the Trial in Westminster Hall, they shall be admitted to their Seats when they come, which are secured for them, notwithstanding any former Order to the contrary; and also the Peeresses of Ireland, and their Daughters.

Records, &c. to be read at the Table:

Ordered, That whatever Records and Papers shall be desired to be read at the Trial of Doctor Henry Sacheverell, in Westm'r Hall, either by the Commons, or the Counsel for the said Doctor, shall be read at the Table there.

Doctor Sacheverel's Trial.

The House adjourned into Westminster Hall, to proceed in the Trial of Doctor Sacheverell.

And being sat;

The House was resumed.

Then Proclamations being severally made (as Yesterday) for Silence, and the Prisoner's Appearance.

The Lord Chancellor acquainted the Managers for the House of Commons, "They might proceed."

And several of them being heard;

The House adjourned to the House above.

Where being resumed;

It was proposed, "To hear the Prisoner's Counsel to the First Article, before the Commons proceed on the Second."

And, after Debate,

This Question was put, "That the Counsel for the Prisoner be permitted to make their Defence to the First Article, before the Commons proceed on the Second?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

Then the House again adjourned into Westminster Hall.

Where being resumed, and Proclamation made for Silence;

The Lord Chancellor told the Managers, "They might proceed in the Method they were in."

And several others of them being also heard;

The House adjourned to the House above.

And the Lords being there;

The House was resumed.

Message to H. C. that this House will proceed in the Trial:

Ordered, That this House will proceed further on the Trial of Doctor Henry Sacheverell To-morrow, at Ten a Clock in Westminster Hall.

And a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Fellowes and Mr. Meller, to acquaint them therewith.

Dr. Sacheverel, Motion to take him into Custody:

The House being moved, "That Doctor Sacheverell might be taken into Custody;"

And Debate thereupon:

The Deputy Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod was sent to inquire if Doctor Sacheverell was gone; and if not, to require his Attendance presently.

Who, being returned, acquainted the House, "he had been gone some Time."

Then the Committee following was named.

Disorders on Occasion of his coming to his Trial, Committee to consider of.
