2. An Act for Confirmation of Letters Patents, made to the Governors of the Free Grammar-School at St. Bees, in the County of Cumberland. Returned also, with an Amendment, which was likewise presently Twice read, and thereupon ingrossed, and then instantly read the Third Time.

3. An Act for the Naturalizing of Sir James Areskin, Knight, his Wife and Children. Returned also, with an Amendment.

4. An Act against Non-Residence and Pluralities of Benefices.

5. An Act for the more sure Establishing and Continuance of True Religion.

6. An Act for the Repeal of one Act, made in the Fourteenth Year of Queen Elizabeth's Reign, concerning the Length of Kersies. Prima vice lecta.

Attainder of Lord Cobham, and Brooke.

The Second Bill framed for the Attainder of the Lord Cobham, etc. which was referred to Committees, was this Day brought into the House, by the Lord Treasurer, the first of the Committees on that Bill; who made Report, That the same Bill, being also found by them, for some respects, not meet to be proceeded in, the said Committees had framed a Third Bill for that Purpose, which his Lordship presented to the House, intituled, An Act for the establishing in the Crown the Lands and Possessions of Henry late Lord Cobham, and George Brooke, Esquire, attainted of High Treason, with a Confirmation of Grants made by His Majesty.

Bishop of Bath and Wells excused.

Excuse made by the Lord Bishop of London, for the Absence of the Lord Bishop of Bathe and Wells, for Want of Health.

Absent Lords to pay Twice as much to the Poor's Box, as those who only neglect coming till after Prayers.

Upon a Motion by the Lord Chancellor, That (whereas the Order of the House being now in Use, That the Lords that come into the House after Prayers do contribute to the Poor Man's Box, according to the Rate of Two Shillings an Earl, and Twelve Pence every other Lord, for each Time) the like Order might be taken with those Lords that come not at all, having neither Proxy, nor sending their just Excuse for their Absence, who ought much rather to pay for their Absence than the others for their late Coming, and yet have not been charged with any Payment at all; it is Agreed, That the Lords that so absent themselves, upon any Parliament Day, without just Cause, as aforesaid, shall, for every such Default, pay double as much as those that come after Prayers, according to their several Degrees and Places in the House; and that the Clerk of the Crown shall daily inform himself of the Names of the said Lords, that shall in that Sort be absent, to the End he may receive of them as of the rest.
