Message to H. C. that the Lords will proceed in the E. of Oxford's Trial.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the House of Commons, to acquaint them, "That the Lords have ordered Robert Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer to be brought to the Bar of their House, in Westm'r Hall, this Day, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon, in order to proceed further on the Trial of the said Earl."

And a Message was sent accordingly, by Mr. Holford and Mr. Lovibond.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable His Majesty to make such Provision for, and Settlement upon, Margaret the Wife of James late Earl of Panmure, as she would have been entitled to in case her said Husband was naturally dead."

Copies of Treaties delivered.

The Earl of Sunderland (by His Majesty's Command) presented to the House, pursuant to their Lordships Address of the Nineteenth Instant, Copies of several Treaties, intituled as follow:

"Copy of the Three Explanatory Articles, put instead of the 3d, 5th, and 8th Articles of the Treaty of Commerce with Spain, signed at Utrecht, 28 Nov./9 Dec. 1713."

"Copy of the 4th Article of the Treaty of Peace with France, relating to the Pretender, signed at Utrecht, 31 March./11th April. 1713, by Joh. Bristol, H. Uxelles; Strafford, Mesnager."

"Copy of the 9th Article of the Treaty of Peace with France, relating to the Demolition of Dunkirk; signed at Utrecht, 31 March./11 April 1713, by Joh. Bristol, H. Uxelles, Strafford, Mesnager."

"Copy of the Treaty of Commerce with Spain, 14th Dec. 1715."

"Copy of the separate Article, dated 3 April, to the Treaty for Renewal of former Alliances with The States General, made at Westm'r, 6th Feb. 17 15/16."

"Ratification of the Treaty for Renewal of former Alliances, made at Westm'r, 6th Feb. 17 15/16. Copy."

"Copy of the Triple Alliance, 4th Jan. 17 16/17."

And his Lordship acquainted the House, "That other Papers were transcribing, in Pursuance of the said Address; and would be laid before the House as soon as they could be got ready."

Ordered, That the abovementioned Papers do lie on the Table.

Game Laws, for explaining, Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to explain and amend several Laws therein mentioned, for the better Preservation of the Game."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill, with the Amendment, shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with an Amendment to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Holford and Mr. Lovibond:

To acquaint them, that the Lords have agreed to the same, with One Amendment, whereunto their Lordships desire their Concurrence.

Message from thence, to put off the E. of Oxford's Trial:

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Carter and others:

To acquaint this House, "That the Commons, having taken into their Consideration their Lordships Resolution communicated to their Managers, relating to the Proceedings on the Trial of Robert Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer, and being desirous to preserve a good Correspondence between the Two Houses, have appointed a Committee, to search Precedents, upon a Matter of this great Importance; and desire that their Lordships will not proceed at the Time appointed."

Trial put off:

Ordered, That the Commons be called in, and acquainted, "That, the Lords having taken the Message of the Commons into their Consideration, their Lordships will not proceed on the Trial of the Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer at the Time appointed; but will proceed further on the said Trial on Thursday next, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon."

Accordingly the Commons were called in, and acquainted therewith.

E. Oxford remanded.

Ordered, That the Lieutenant of The Tower of London, or, in his Absence, the Deputy Lieutenant of the same, do take back Robert Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer to the said Tower of London; and that the said Lieutenant of The Tower do bring the said Earl to the Bar of this House in Westminster Hall, on Thursday next, at Eleven a Clock in the Forenoon, in order to proceed further on the Trial of the said Earl.

To the Constable of His Majesty's Tower of London; and, in his Absence, to the Lieutenant or Deputy of the same.

Adjourn.
