Octavo, in Superiori Domo Parliamenti Magnæ Britanniæ apud Westmonaster. convenere, Domini tam Spirituales quam Temporales, quorum Nomina subscribuntur, et præsentes fuerunt:

The King's most Excellent Majesty having, by His Writ of Summons, bearing Date at Westminster, the Fourteenth Day of March last, appointed His Parliament to open and begin this Day:

The Lord Chancellor acquainted the House, "That His Majesty had sent a Writ, under the Great Seal, for the proroguing of the Parliament."

Which was read, by the Clerk, as follows:

Writ for proroguing the Parliament.

"Georgius, Dei Gratia, Magn. Britann. Franc. et Hib'niæ Rex, Fidei Defensor, &c. Prædilectis et Fidelibus Nostris Prælatis, Magnatibus, et Proceribus Regni Nostri Magnæ Britanniæ, ac Dilectis et Fidelibus Nostris Militibus, Civibus, Burgensibus, et Commissionariis pro Comitat. et Burgis dicti Regni Nostri, ad Parliamentum Nostrum, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. Decimo Die instantis Mensis Maii, inchoandum et tenendum convocatis et electis, et vestrum cuilibet, Salutem. Cum Nos, pro quibusdam arduis et urgentibus Negotiis, Nos, Statum et Defensionem dicti Regni Nostri Magnæ Britanniæ et Ecclesiæ concernentibus, dictum Parliamentum Nostrum ad Diem et Locum prædictum teneri ordinaverimus; ac vobis, per separalia Brevia Nostra, apud Civitatem et Diem præd. interesse mandavimus, ad tractand. consentiend. et concludend. super iis quæ in dicto Parliamento Nostro tunc et ibidem proponerentur et tractarentur: Quibusdam tamen certis de Causis et Considerationibus Nos ad præsens specialiter moventibus, dictum Parliamentum Nostrum usque Diem Martis, Quinto Die Junii prox. futur. duximus prorogandum, ita quod nec vos, nec aliquis vestrum, ad dictum Decimum Diem Maii, apud Civitatem præd. comparere teneamini seu arctemini; volumus etiam vos, et quemlibet vestrum, inde erga Nos penitus exonerari; mandantes, et, Tenore Præsentium, firmiter injungendo præcipientes, vobis, et cuilibet vestrum, ac omnibus aliis quibus in hac Parte intersit, quod ad dictum Quintum Diem Junii, apud prædictam Civitatem Westm. personaliter compareatis et intersitis, et quilibet vestrum compareat et intersit, ad tractand. faciend. agend. et concludend. super iis quæ in dicto Parliamento Nostro, de communi Consilio dicti Regni Nostri, (favente Deo) contigerint ordinari.

"Breve ad Parliamentum (de Prima Summon.) prorogand.

Return of the Sixteen Peers for Scotland.

The Clerk of the Crown in Chancery delivered this Day a Certificate of the Names of the Sixteen Peers, chosen, summoned, and certified, to sit and vote in this House, for that Part of Great Britain called Scotland.

Who attended at the Table, with the original Return.

And the said Certificate, being compared therewith, was found to agree thereunto; and is as follows; (videlicet,)

"May it please your Lordships,

"These are the Names of the Sixteen Peers, who, according to the late Act in that Case made and provided, are chosen, summoned, and certified, to be Members of the House of Lords, for and on the Behalf of that Part of Great Britain called Scotland, in the Parliament of Great Britain, which is to meet the Tenth of May Instant:

"The Duke of Montrose.

"The Duke of Roxburgh.

"The Marquis of Twedale.

"The Earl of Sutherland.

"The Earl of Rothes.

"The Earl of Buchan.

"The Earl of Hadinton.

"The Earl of Loudoun.

"The Earl of Selkirk.

"The Earl of Aberdeen.

"The Earl of Orkney.

"The Earl of Stair.

"The Earl of Bute.

"The Earl of Hopetoun.

"The Earl of Deloraine.

"The Earl of Ilay.
