After hearing Counsel, as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Barbara Standard Spinster, a Lunatic, by Thomas Pomfrett her Committee, and of the said Thomas Pomfrett; complaining of a Decree of the Court of Chancery, the 5th Day of December 1734, made on the Behalf of Adolphus Meetkerke Junior Esquire, Son and Heir, and also Executor of the last Will and Testament, of Adolphus Meetkerke Senior Esquire, deceased, and Penelope Meetkerke Widow and Executrix of the said Adolphus Meetkerke Senior, deceased, and Mary Wickham; and praying, "That the same may be reversed; and that the several Indentures of the 2d, 10th, and 11th, Days of March 1720, in the Appeal mentioned, may be set aside, and delivered up to be canceled; and that a pretended stated Accompt of the Second of the said March, in the Appeal also mentioned, may be opened and unraveled; and that the said Adolphus Meetkerke, who has confessed Assets of his Father, may accompt with the Appellant for the Rents, Profits, and Produce, of the said Appellant Barbara's Real and Personal Estates; and that the Appellants may have such further and other Relief as to this House shall seem just:" As also upon the several Answers of the said Adolphus Meetkerke, Penelope Meetkerke, and Mary Wickham, put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Judgement.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Decree complained of in the said Appeal be, and is hereby, affirmed; without Prejudice to any new Bill to be brought, or other Remedy taken by the Appellant Barbara, for any of the Matters complained of in this Cause, in case she recovers her sound Mind.

Gee's Bill.

The Earl of Macclesfield reported from the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Estate of William Gee Esquire in Trustees, to settle the same, pursuant to an Agreement made previous to his Marriage with Elizabeth his Wife, Daughter of Roger Talbot Esquire," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made some Amendments thereunto."

Which, being read Twice by the Clerk, were agreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the said Bill, with the Amendments, be engrossed.

Herbert's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Charles Herbert Esquire, now called Charles Sheffield, and his Issue, to take and use the Surname of Sheffield, pursuant to the Will of John late Duke of Buckinghamshire and Normanby, deceased."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Tuesday next.

Edgworth against Edgworth & al.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Edward Edgworth Esquire; complaining, "That the Court of Exchequer in Ireland did, at the Hearing of the Cause wherein John and Joseph Damer were Plaintiffs, and the Appellant and Packington Edgworth Defendants, admit the said Plaintiffs to read divers Proofs to Matters which had been before in Issue in the Cause in Chancery; and did also admit certain Deeds and Receipts to be read in Evidence against the Appellant, though the same were not proved; and to allow a Copy of a Certificate of a Verdict in another Cause in the said Court of Chancery to be read in Evidence against the Appellant; and an Answer of Robert Edgworth, in another Cause, to be also read in Evidence against him; which he is advised ought not to have been done;" and further complaining, "That the said Court did, by their Order of the 23d Day of February last, direct an Issue, to try whether certain Deeds in the Appeal mentioned were duly executed;" and praying, "That the said several Proceedings and Order of the said Court may be reversed, and the Appellant relieved, as to this House in their great Wisdom shall seem meet; and that the said Packington Edgworth, Joseph Damer, John Damer, and Robert Edgworth, may answer the said Appeal:"

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better regulating the Nightly Watch and Beadles, within the Parish of St. Paul, Covent Garden, within the Liberties of the City of Westminster," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

The said Bill was read the Third Time.

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Sales to take the Name of Barrington, Bill:

The Earl of Shaftesbury also reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable John Shales, commonly called John Barrington, and the Heirs of his Body, to take and use the Surname of Barrington, pursuant to a Settlement made by Sir Charles Barrington Baronet, deceased," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Highgate, &c. Road, Bill:

The Earl of Warwick reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual Two Acts of Parliament, One of the 10th Year of the Reign of Her late Majesty Queen Anne, and the other of the 7th Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King George the First, for repairing the Road from Highgate Gatehouse, in the County of Middlesex, to Barnet Blockhouse, in the County of Hertford, and the Road from The Bear Inn in Hadley, to The Angel in Enfield Chace; and for amending Cane Wood Lane, leading from Highgate to Hampstead, in the said County of Middlesex," was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

The said Bill was read the Third Time.

Gaol in Kent, Bill:

The Lord Romney reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the Justices of the Peace acting for the Western Division of the County of Kent to purchase a convenient Piece of Ground, for building a Gaol for the said County; and for empowering the said Justices to apply Part of the County Stock of the said Division towards the same," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill; and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

The said Bill was read the Third Time.

And, the Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"
