Weymouth, Petty Customs collecting, &c Bill.
The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better ascertaining, recovering, and collecting, certain Duties, commonly called Petty Customs, or Wharfage, payable upon the Importation and Exportation of Goods and Merchandizes into or out of the Harbour of the Borough and Town of Waymouth and Melcombe Regis, in the County of Dorset, and also of Ballast and Harbour Duties, payable in respect of Ships and Vessels coming into and going out of the said Harbour, and for the better repairing and keeping in Repair the said Harbour, and the Wharfs and other Public Buildings and Works within the said Borough and Town," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
Boroughbridge Road, Bill.
The same Earl made the like Report from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Powers granted by an Act passed in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for repairing the Road from Boroughbridge, in the County of York, to Catherick, in the same County, and from thence to Peirsbridge, on the River Tees, was committed."
Whittlesey Fens draining, Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual draining and preserving of several Fen Lands and Field Lands, in the Bounds and Precincts of Whittlesey, in the Isle of Ely, in the County of Cambridge."
Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords following, (videlicet,)
Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet on Wednesday next, at the usual Time and Place, and to adjourn as they please.
Manufactures, to prevent Frauds in, Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual preventing of Frauds and Abuses committed by Persons employed in the Manufacture of Hats, and in the Woollen, Linen, Fustian, Cotton, Iron, Leather, Fur, Hemp, Flax, Mohair, and Silk Manufactures, and for preventing unlawful Combinations of Journeymen Dyers and Journeymen Hot-pressers, and of all Persons employed in the said several Manufactures, and for the better Payment of their Wages."
Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next.
Campbell against Sir Peter Halket.
After hearing Counsel, as well on Wednesday last as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of John Campbell Cashier of the Royal Bank of Scotland, complaining of an Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary in Scotland, of the 24th of July 1744, and of his Adherence thereunto the 12th of December next following, and also of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session of the 14th of January 1747, whereby they adhered to the Lord Ordinary's Interlocutor, and likewise of another Interlocutor of the said Lords, of the 9th of June 1747, and also of a subsequent Interlocutor of the same Lords, of the 21st of July following, adhering to their former Interlocutor, all made on the Behalf of Sir Peter Halket of Pitfirran Baronet, and praying, "That the same might be reversed, varied, or altered, and such other Relief given the Appellant as to the great Wisdom and Justice of this House should seem meet" As also upon the Answer of the said Sir Peter Halket put in to the said Appeal, and due Consisideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause.
Judgement.
It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords (fn. 1) Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed this House, and that the said Interlocutors therein complained of be, and the same are hereby, affirmed.
Argyllshire, Roll of Valuation, Bill.
The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making an authentic Roll of Valuation for the Shire of Argyll."
After some Time, the House was resumed.
And the Earl of Halifax reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Fane and others.
With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to charge the Sinking Fund with the Payment of Annuities, in Discharge of Navy, Victualing, and Transport Bills, and Ordnance Debentures, to the Amount therein mentioned," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
The said Bills were both read the First Time.
Williams & al Bill to sell Robinson Lytton's Estate.
The Lord Sandys reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for disposing of Part of the Real Estate of William Robinson Lytton Esquire, deceased, directed by his Will to be sold, for raising Portions for his Daughters, in order to discharge Encumbrances affecting the same, and for other Purposes therein mentioned," was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
Ordered, That the said Bill be engrossed.
Gwyn's Bill.
Ordered, That the Committee to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of Part of the Estate of Francis Gwyn Esquire, in the County of Devon, for raising Money, to discharge his Sisters Portions, and other Encumbrances affecting the same, and for other Purposes therein mentioned,' stands committed, which is appointed to meet on Thursday next, be put off to the next Day, and that the Earl of Oxford, Earl Poulet, Lord Viscount Say and Seale, Lord Ward, Lord Bathurst, and Lord Ilchester, be added thereto.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for amending, explaining, and reducing into One Act of Parliament, the Laws relating to the Government of His Majesty's Ships, Vessels, and Forces by Sea," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
The said Four last mentioned Bills were all read the First Time.
Ordered, That the Bill last mentioned be read a Second Time on this Day Sevennight, and the Lords to be summoned, and that the same be printed.
Scott to amend his Appeal.
A Petition of Francis Scott, was presented, and read; setting forth, "That he has been but lately advised, by his Counsel, to endeavour to procure all Persons who were Parties in the Cause below to be made Respondents to his Appeal, though not materially concerned in Interest, left it might occasion the putting off the hearing the same, and that he has omitted inserting an Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary in this Cause, dated the 28th of November 1740, and complaining thereof," and praying, "That he may be at Liberty to amend his said Appeal, by adding all the Parties who were originally so below, and to insert the said Interlocutor and pray the Reversal of the same"
And thereupon the Agents on both Sides were called in, and heard at the Bar.
And being withdrawn.
Ordered, That the Petitioner be at Liberty to amend his Appeal, as desired, and make Respondents all Persons who were Parties below, and insert the said Interlocutor, and that the Petitioner do pay, or cause to be paid, to the Respondent, Ten Pounds, for Costs occasioned by the said Amendments, and that the new Respondents do put in their Answer or respective Answers to the said Appeal in Four Weeks.
America, United Brethren, settling there, Bill.
The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for encouraging the People known by the Name of Unitas Fratrum, or United Brethren, to settle in His Majesty's Colonies in America."
After some Time, the House was resumed.
And the Earl of Warwick reported from the said Committee, "That they had made some Progress in the said Bill."
Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee again on the said Bill, on Monday next.
Bowler's Nat. Bill.
Upon reading the Petition of Emanuel Bowler, praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for his Naturalization.
It is Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, as desired.
Accordingly the Earl of Warwick presented to the House a Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Emanuel Bowler."
And the same was read the First Time.
Then, the said Emanuel Bowler took the Oaths appointed, in order to his Naturalization.
Causes put off.
Ordered, That the Cause which stands to be heard on Friday next be put off till To-morrow Sevennight, and the other Causes removed, to come on in Course.
