A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Offley and others.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Sale of Part of the settled Estate of Thomas Lord Viscount Kilmorey, in the Kingdom of Ireland, for raising Money, to discharge the Encumbrances affecting the same prior to his Marriage Settlement, and for laying out the Surplus thereof in the Purchase of other Lands and Hereditaments, to be settled to the Uses of the said Settlement," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

and the D of Buccleugh & al Bill, for Sale of the E of Dalkeith's Estates.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Mellish and others.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for completing the Sale of the Estate late of Francis Scott, commonly called Earl of Dalkeith, deceased, in the County of Lincoln, and for applying the Money arising thereby, pursuant to an Agreement for that Purpose and for empowering the Guardians of the Heir of the said late Earl, for the Time being, to make Leases of Ground and Buildings in the County of Middlesex, during the Minority of such Heir," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Lambeth, &c. Roads, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr Hardinge and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for making, widening, and keeping in Repair, several Roads, in the several Parishes of Lambeth, Newington, St George's Southwark, and Bermondsey, in the County of Surrey, and Lewisham, in the County of Kent," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Bishop of Bristol to preach the 11th Inst.

Ordered, That the Lord Bishop of Bristol be, and he is hereby, desired to preach before this House, in the Abbey Church, Westm'r, on the 11th of this Instant June, being the Day on which His Majesty began His happy Reign.

D of Ancaster, Leave for a Bill.

After reading, and considering, the Report of the Judges to whom was referred the Petition of Peregrine Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven, praying Leave to bring in a Private Bill.

It is Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill, pursuant to the said Petition and Report.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to rectify and supply certain Defects and Omissions in a Settlement, dated the Twenty first of May One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty-five, therein mentioned, of the Family Estates of the most Noble Peregrine Duke of Ancaster and Kesteven, by enabling the said Duke to raise Portions thereout for his Daughters, in the Manner therein mentioned."

Corporation of Stamford against Peterborough Road Bill,

A Petition of the Mayor, Aldermen, Capital Bur gesses, and other Burgesses and Inhabitants, of the Town or Borough of Stamford, in the County of Lincoln, was presented, and read, praying, "In regard the Petitioners apprehend, that the Power given by the Bill depending in this House, relating to the Repair of the Road from Stilton, in the County of Huntingdon, to Peterborough, in the County of Northampton, will prejudice and injure them, and all other Travellers in Trading Towns lying North of Wandsford, that the Petitioners may be heard, by their Counsel, against the said Bill passing into a Law, or grant them such other Relief as to this House shall seem meet"

Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Consideration of the Committee to whom the said Bill stands committed, and that the Petitioners may be heard, as desired, before the said Committee; as may Counsel also be heard for the Bill, at the same Time, and that the Meeting of the said Committee, which was appointed for To-morrow, be put off to Thursday next.

and Wandsford and other Parishes against it,

A Petition of divers Inhabitants, Land Owners, and Occupiers of Lands, in the several Parishes of Wandsford, Sibson, Stivington, Warmington, Water Newton, Chesterton, Elton, Morbon, Folksworth, Stilton, Galdicot, Denton, Glatton, Sawtry, Great Gidding, Little Gidding, Upton, Alconbury, Wesson, Watton, Conington, Holme, Aldwater, and several other adjacent Towns and Vil lages, in the Counties of Huntingdon and Northampton, adjoining to or near the Great North Road leading from Alconbury White Post to Wandsford Bridge, in the aforesaid County of Huntingdon, was presented, and read; to the same Purpose.

And the like Order was made.

Treasurer of Stilton and Wandsford Turnpikes, to attend, &c.

Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Saltree and Wondsford Turnpikes do permit the Agent for the Petitioners against the Bill, in relation to the Repair of the Road from Stilton to Peterborough aforesaid, to inspect the Books and Accompts relating to the said Turnpikes, and to take Copies, or any Parts thereof, and that Mr. Samuel Addenbrook the Treasurer of the said Turnpikes do attend this House, or any Committee thereof, with such Books and Papers.

Tobacco Duties, Bill.

Linen Yarn, Duties, Bill.

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to explain and amend an Act passed in the last Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for the more easy and speedy Recovery of small Debts, within the City and Liberty of Westminster, and that Part of the Dutchy of Lancaster which adjoineth thereto, and for making the said Act more effectual"

After some Time, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Warwick reported from the said Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

E. of Hertford takes the Oaths.

Francis Earl of Hertford took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes, his Lordship having first delivered in a Certificate of his receiving the Sacrament, to the Truth whereof Witnesses were sworn and examined.

Webb against St Lawrence & al.

After hearing Counsel in Part, in the Cause wherein Noah Webb Esquire is Appellant, and Robert St Lawrence and George Woods Gentlemen are Respondents.

It is Ordered, That the further Hearing of the said Cause be adjourned till To-morrow, and that the Counsel be called in at One o'Clock.

Towns in the Hundred of Normancross, Petition referred to Committee Peterborough Road Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of several Inhabitants of several Parishes and Villages in the Hundred of Normancross, in the County of Huntingdon, setting forth, That they have been prevailed with to sign a Petition to this House, without knowing the true Contents thereof, and that, should the same contain any Thing against the Bill for repairing the Roads from Stilton, in the County of Huntingdon, to Peterborough, in the County of Northampton, the Petitioners beg Leave, on Behalf of themselves, to withdraw the said Petition, they being sincerely of Opinion that the said Road Bill will be of public Use and Advantage, and praying such Relief as to the House shall seem meet"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee to whom the said Bill stands committed.

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual securing the Duties upon Tobacco," and also upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the rendering Justices of the Peace more safe in the Execution of their Office, and for indemnifying Constables and others acting in Obedience to their Warrants," To morrow.

Webb against St Lawrence and Woods.

After hearing Counsel, as well Yesterday as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Noah Webb, of Dunsaghlin in the County of Meath in Ireland, Esquire, complaining of a Decree of the Court of Chancery in that Kingdom, of the 7th of December last, made in a Cause wherein Robert St Lawrence and George Woods Gentlemen were Plaintiffs, and the Appellant Desendant, and praying, "That the same might be reversed and set aside, and that the Injunction thereby granted might be dissolved, and the Plaintiffs Bill dismissed with Costs, or that this House would be pleased to make such other Order for the Appellant's Relief as to their Lordships in their great Wisdom should seem meet" As also upon the Answer of the said Robert St. Lawrence and George Woods put in to the said Appeal, and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause.

Judgement.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed this House, and that the said Decree therein complained of be, and the same is hereby, affirmed.

Sinking Fund and other Purposes, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Fane and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majesty the Sum of Six Hundred Thousand Pounds out of the Sinking Fund, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty-one, and for Allowances to the poor Widows of Commission and Warrant Officers of the Royal Navy, and for the further appropriating the Supplies granted this Session of Parliament, and for making forth Duplicates of Exchequer Bills, Lottery Tickets, Certificates, Orders of Loan, or Annuity Orders, payable at the Exchequer, in Lieu of such as shall be lost, burnt, or destroyed, and also for making forth new Orders of Loan or Annuity Orders, in Lieu of such as shall become defaced, obliterated, or otherwise encumbered with Assignments or Endorsements thereon," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to continue several Laws therein mentioned, for preventing Thest and Rapine on the Northerin Borders of England, for the more effectual punishing wicked and evil disposed Persons going armed in Disguise, and doing Injuries and Violences to the Persons and Properties of His Majesty's Subjects, and for the more speedy bringing the Offenders to Justice, for continuing Two Clauses, to prevent the cutting or breaking down the Bank of any River or Sea Bank, and to prevent the malicious cutting of Hop Binds, for the more effectual Punishment of Persons maliciously setting on Fire any Mine, Pit, or Delph of Coal, or Cannel Coal, and of Persons unlawfully hunting or taking any Red or Fallow Deer, in Forests or Chases, or beating or wounding the Keepers or other Officers in Forests, Chases, or Parks, for granting a Liberty to carry Sugars, of the Growth, Produce, or Manufacture, of any of His Majesty's Sugar Colonies in America, from the said Colonies, directly into Foreign Parts, in Ships built in Great Britain, and navigated according to Law, for preventing the committing of Frauds by Bankiupts, for giving further Encouragement for the Importation of Naval Stores from the British Colonies in America, and for preventing Frauds and Abuses in the Admeasurement of Coals, in the City and Liberty of Westminster, and to make some further Provisions in relation to the signing of Certificates for the Discharge of Bankrupts," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Horned Cattle, Laws continuing, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the said Sir John Turner and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing several Laws therein mentioned, more effectually to prevent the sprending of the Distemper which now pages amongst the Horned Cattle in this Kingdom," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Turnpike Roads Preservation, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr Wilkinson and others.

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the more effectual Preservation of the Turnpike Roads in that Part of Great Britain called England, and for the Disposition of Penalties given by Acts of Parliament relating to the Highways in that Part of Great Britain called England, and for enforcing the Recovery thereof, and for the more effectual preventing of Mischiess occasioned by the Divers riding upon Carts, Drays, Cars, and Waggons, in the City of London, and within Ten Miles thereof," to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bills were read the First Time, and that last mentioned was ordered to be printed.

Peterborough Road, Bill.

The Earl Fitzwilliam reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers, and making more effectual, several Acts of Parliament, for repairing and amending the Highways leading from Rosston, in the County of Hertford, to Wandsford Bridge, in the County of Huntingdon, so far as relates to the amending of that Part of the Road as lies between a Place called The White Post on Alconbury Hill, in the County of Huntingdon, and Wandsford Bridge, in the same County, called The North Division, and that the Tolls taken at Saltree and Wandsford Toll Gates may, from and after a certain Time, be lowered, and for repairing the Road leading from Stilton, in the said County of Huntingdon, to Peterborough, in the County of Northampton," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, and likewise considered the several Petitions to them referred, and also heard Counsel, and examined Witnesses as well for as against the Bill, and had gone through the same, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Ordered, That the said Bill be read the Third Time on Monday next, and the Lords to be summoned, and that the Hearing of the Cause appointed for that Day be put off to Wednesday next, and the Judges then to attend.

The Lord Willoughby of Parham reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for making, widening, and keeping in Repair, several Roads, in the several Parishes of Lambeth, Newington, St George's Southwark, and Bermondsey, in the County of Surrey, and Lewisham, in the County of Kent," was committed "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true, and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment"

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr Berkeley and others.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enabling the Right Honourable John Thynne Lord Chedworth to settle a Jointure on Martha Parker Spinster, upon their Intermarriage, and for making Provision for their Younger Children, and for explaining the Will of Sir Philip Parker Long Baronet, deceased, and for other Purposes therein mentioned," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Jugla &al Nat Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons by Mr Winnington and others.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing John Jugla and Stephan Cogigian," and to requaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

E of Powis's Bill,

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr West and others.

To return the Bill, intituled, "An Act for establishing and confirming Articles entered into upon the Marriage of Henry Arthur Earl of Powis with Barbara Countess of Powis his Wife, an Intant, and for the more effectually carrying the same into Execation," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Newland's Bill,

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr Bugden and others.

To return the Bill intituled, "An Act for Sale of the Estates late of William Newland Esquire, deceased, in Gatton, Rygate, and Meastham, in the County of Surry, for discharging Encumbrances," and to acquaint this House, that they have agreed to the same, with some Amendments, whereunto they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

The House proceeded to take into Consideration the Amendments made by the Commons to the said several Bills.

And the same, being all read Thrice by the Clerk, were agreed to by the House.

And Messages were severally ordered to be sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Bennet and Mr. Holford, to acquaint them therewith.

Geo Courtenay's Bill,

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Gwynne and others.
