The Lord Boston reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for continuing and rendering more effectual Two Acts, passed in the Twelfth Year of King George the First, and the Twentieth of His late Majesty, for repairing the several Roads therein mentioned, in the Counties of Essex and Suffolk; and for repairing and widening several other Roads, in the Counties of Essex and Hertford, was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House; without any Amendment;

With a Bill, intituled, An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of so much of an Act made in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Reign of His late Majesty, for repairing several Roads in the Counties of Dorset and Devon, as relates to the Road from Penn Inn in the County of Dorset, to the Workhouse at the East End of the Town of Honiton, in the County of Devon, and to the Road from the Intrenchment on Askerwell Hill to Penn Inn, and from Bridport to Beamister; and for repairing and amending several other Roads therein mentioned, in the Counties of Dorset and Devon; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Wellingborough Enclosure, Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bagot and others:

With a Bill, intituled, An Act for dividing and enclosing the Common Fields, Common Meadows, Common Pastures, Common Grounds, and Waste Grounds, of and in the Manor of Wellingborough, and of and in the Manor of Wellingborough, formerly belonging to the College of Irtlingborough, and in the Parish of Wellingborough, in the County of Northampton; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The Kings Answer to Address for a Place in Westminster Hall, and Lord High Steward, for Ld. Byrons Trial.

The Lord Chamberlain reported, That the Lords with White Staves had (according to Order) presented to His Majesty the Address of this House of Wednesday last, for a Place to be prepared in Westminster Hall, for the Trial of William Lord Byron; and for the Appointment of a Lord High Steward, to continue during the said Trial; and that His Majesty was pleased to say, He had given Directions accordingly.

The Kings Answer to Address, touching Drovers of Cattle.

The Lord Chamberlain reported, That the Lords with White Staves had (according to Order) presented to His Majesty the Address of this House of Tuesday last, to desire, that He would be graciously pleased to direct all Justices of Peace, and others to whom it appertains, to put the several Acts of Parliament touching Drovers of Cattle into Execution; and that His Majesty was pleased to say, He would give Directions accordingly.

To repeal Part of an Act of the 7th of Queen Anne, touching Carease Butchers, Bill.

The Earl of Abercorn presented to the House, a Bill, intituled, An Act for repealing so much of an Act passed in the Seventh Year of Queen Anne (intituled, An Act for explaining and making more effectual that Part of an Act passed in the Fifth Year of Her present Majestys Reign, concerning the buying and selling of Cattle in Smithfield, and for giving Leave for bringing up Calves dead to London as formerly) as relates to the felling of Sheep and Grass Lambs, dead, by One Butcher to another.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be read a Second Time To-morrow.

To prevent Free Indians from being carried by Sea from His Majestys Colonies in America, without License, Bill.

The Lord Harwich presented to the House a Bill, intituled, An Act to prevent any Free Indian, under His Majestys Protection, from being carried by Sea from any of His Majestys Colonies in America, without a Licence for that Purpose.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Horley and Hornton Enclosure, Bill.

The Lord Delamer reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill, intituled, An Act for dividing and enclosing the Open and Common Fields, Common Meadows, Common Pastures, Common Grounds, and Commonable Lands, lying within the, Towhships and Hamlets of Horley and Hornton, in the Parish of Horley aforesaid, in the County of Oxford, was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made Two Amendments thereto.

Which Amendments were read by the Clerk, and are as follow; videlicet,

After hearing Counsel, as well on Friday last as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Francis Lord Napier; complaining of Three Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 3d of March and 11th of August 1762, and 2d of March 1763; and praying, That the same might be reversed or altered, or that the Appellant might have such Relief in the Premises as to their Lordships should seem meet: As also upon the Answer of Captain William Livingston put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Interlocutor affirmed.

Upon reading the Petition of the several Persons whose Names are thereunto subscribed, being Trustees for carrying into Execution, or Creditors under the Security of, an Act passed in the First Year of His present Majesty. intituled, An Act for amending, widening and keeping in Repair, the Road leading from Fisherton Bridge to the Turnpike Road at West Knoyle, and from Wilton Bridge to the Turnpike Road at the West End of Heytesbury, and also the Road from the Turnpike Road at the Top of Redhone Hill in the Parish of Urshfont to the Mile Stone at the Western End of Fisherton Street in the County of Wilts; and also an Act passed in the Second Year of His present Majestys Reign, to amend and render more effectual the said first-mentioned Act; setting forth, That the Petitioners are informed, that a Bill has lately passed the House of Commons, and is now depending in this House, for enlarging the Terms and Powers of Two Acts, of the 13th of George the First, and of the 16th of His late Majesty, for repairing several Roads leading from the Town of Warminster in the County of Wilts, and for amending several other Roads near or adjoining thereto; whereby so much of the said Acts mentioned in the Title of the Petition as relates to the Road leading from the West End of the Town of Heytesbury to The Unicorn at the East End of the said Town, is intended to be repealed; and the said Road, from thenceforward, to be subjected to the Care of the Trustees appointed, or to be appointed, to put in Execution the said Bill now depending, in case the same should pass into a Law; in Consequence whereof, the Petitioners will be deprived of the Benefit of the Gate erected at the West End of the said Town of Heytesbury, and the Produce thereof appropriated to the Repair of the Roads comprised in the said Bill now depending, or otherwise wholly lost to the Petitioners: to the great Injury of the Petitioners the Creditors, who have lent their Money on the Credit of the several Gates erected on the said Roads, and the Tolls collected by virtue thereof; and therefore praying, That they may be heard, by themselves or Counsel, against the said Bill; or that they may have such other Relief in the Premises as to their Lordships shall seem meet:

It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Consideration of the Lords Committees to whom the said Bill stands committed; and that the Petitioners may be heard, by themselves or Counsel, against the said Bill, before the said Committee, if they think fit; as may also Counsel be heard for the said Bill, at the same Time,

The Lord Sandys reported from the Lords Committees to whom the Bill intituled. An Act for confirming and establishing an exchange agreed to be made between Thomas Holles Duke of Newcastle and Margaret Cavendish Dutchess Dowager of Portland, of several Parts of their settled Estates in the County of Nottingham; and for settling the Lands given in Exchange to each Party to such Uses as the Lands for which the same are exchanged stood settled, was committed: That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents, to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment.

The Earl of Abercorn reported from the Lords Committees appointed to consider of the Causes of the present Dearness of Provisions, and of the proper Remedies for the same; and to report their Opinion there upon, from Time to Time, to the House: That upon Consideration of the Returns made from most Parts of the Kingdom of the Price of Wheat, it is the Opinion of this Committee, That His Majesty be empowered, with the Advice of His Privy Council, to prohibit the Exportation of Wheat, under proper Restrictions, and for a limited Time.

After hearing Counsel, the amended Petition and Appeal of Thomas Erskine of Alloa, commonly called Lord Erskine, and John Erskine of Balgounie; complaining of Four Interlocutors of the Lords of Session in Scotland, of the 25th of February and 14th of July 1763, of the 11th of February and 7th of March 1764; and praying, That the same might be, reversed, or that this House would give the Petitioners such Relief in the Premises as to their Lordships in their great Wisdom should seem meet: As also upon the Answer of the Magistrates and Town Council of Stirling, Michael Potter, and Robert Galloway, put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:
