Then, in order to solemnize this Day, being appointed by Act of Parliament to be observed as a Day of Fasting and Humiliation, for the Martyrdom of King Charles the First,

Sir L. Grant et al. against Ross.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Sir Ludovick Grant Baronet, Sir George Munro of Poyntzfield, George Ross of Cromarty, Robert Bruce, Eneas Macleod of Cadboll, William Munro of Newmore, Coline Mackenzie of Mountgerald, and Roderick Mackenzie of Scotsburn, complaining of Three Interlocutors of the Lord Ordinary in Scotland, of the 8th of August 1780, and 7th of March and 12th of July 1781; and also of Two Interlocutors of the Lords of Session there, of the 5th and 20th of December 1781; and praying, "That the same may be reversed, varied, or amended, or that the Appellants may have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House, in their Lordships great Wisdom, shall seem meet; and that William Rose and his Son James Rose, may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said William Rose and James Rose may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in their Answer or respective Answers thereunto in Writing, on or before Thursday the 28th Day of February next; and Service of this Order upon their, or any of their known Counsel or Agents in the said Court of Session in Scotland, shall be deemed good Service.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Alexander More, Second Son of Gilbert More Merchant, in Aberdeen, complaining of an Interlocutor of the Commissaries of Edinburgh in Scotland, of the 2d of July 1781; also of an Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary there, of the 27th of July 1781; and also of an Interlocutor of the Lords of Session there, of the 19th of December 1781; and praying, "That the same may be reversed, varied, or amended, or that the Appellant may have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House, in their Lordships great Wisdom and Justice, shall seem meet; and that Janet M^cInnes Relict of Captain Alexander Fairbairn, may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

It is Ordered, That the said Janet M^cInnes may have a Copy of the said Appeal, and do put in her Answer thereunto in Writing, on or before Thursday the 28th Day of February next; and Service of this Order upon any of the Counsel or Agents of the said Respondent, in the said Court of Session in Scotland, shall be deemed good Service.

It is Ordered, That the said Thomas Longlands may enter into a Recognizance for the said Appellants, as desired.

More's Appeal.

The House being moved, "That Thomas Longlands of Brewer Street, Gentleman, may be permitted to enter into a Recognizance for Alexander More, on account of his Appeal depending in this House, he residing in Scotland:"

It is Ordered, That the said Thomas Longlands may enter into a Recognizance for the said Appellant, as desired.

Bishop Gloucester to preach on Fast Day.

Ordered, That the Lord Bishop of Gloucester be, and he is hereby desired to preach before this House, on Friday the 8th Day of February next, in the Abbey Church Westminster, being the Day appointed by His Majesty's Royal Proclamation for a General Fast.

Bishop Litchfield and Coventry, Thanks given for his Sermon.

Ordered, That the Thanks of this House be, and are hereby given to the Lord Bishop of Litchfield and Coventry, for the Sermon by him preached before this House Yesterday, in the Abbey Church Westminster; and that he be desired to cause the same to be forthwith printed and published.

Lady Cranston and Lade against Scott et al.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed for hearing the Cause, wherein Sophia Lady Cranston and Michael Lade Esquire her Husband are Appellants, and Robert Scott of Crailing Esquire and others are Respondents:"

It is Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel at the Bar, on the First vacant Day for Causes after those already appointed.

Lord Advocate for Scotland et al. against Hart.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed for hearing the Cause, wherein Henry Dundas Esquire, His Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, and others are Appellants, and William Hart is Respondent:"

It is Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel at the Bar, on the First vacant Day for Causes after those already appointed.

Private Bills, Limitation of, Judges Reports on.

Ordered, That this House will not receive any Report from the Judges upon Petitions presented to this House for Private Bills, after Thursday the 4th Day of April next.

Ordered, That the said Order be affixed on the Doors of this House and Westminster Hall.

Browning et al. against Napier.

Upon reading the Petition of Robert Browning and others, Appellants in a Cause depending in this House, and of the Honourable Charles Napier Respondent thereto, which stands appointed for hearing, setting forth, "That the Parties have been for some Time under Treaty for an amicable Accommodation of the Matters in Dispute between them and at Issue by the present Appeal, but further Time being still necessary for the final Settlement thereof;" the Petitioners pray their Lordships "to postpone the Hearing of the said Cause till after those already appointed:"

It is Ordered, That the Hearing of the said Cause be put off till after those already appointed.

Downes's Petition for a Divorce Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of Edward Downes Esquire, praying Leave to bring in a Bill "to dissolve his Marriage with Caroline Downes his now Wife, and to enable him to marry again, and for other Purposes therein mentioned:"

It is Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill according to the Prayer of the said Petition.

Maxwell and Thomson against E.Galloway and Gordon, Petition to amend Appeal.

Upon reading the Petition of David Maxwell Esquire, and the Reverend William Thomson, Appellants in a Cause depending in this House, to which the Earl of Galloway and James Gordon are Respondents; setting forth, "That the Decree made by the Court of Session in this Cause not having been extracted at the Time the Appeal was presented to their Lordships, the Appellants are advised this Circumstance should have been stated in their said Appeal;" and therefore praying their Lordships, "That they may be at Liberty to amend their Appeal by stating this Circumstance, they amending the Respondents' Copy:"

It is Ordered, That the Petitioners be at Liberty to amend their said Appeal as desired, they amending the Respondents' Copy.

Ordered, That the Hearing of the Cause wherein William Duke of Montrose and others are Appellants, and Sir James Colquhoun Baronet, is Respondent, which stands appointed for Monday next, be put off to Wednesday next.
