Bruce against Cleghorns.

Upon reading the Petition of William Bruce, Appellant in a Cause depending in this House, to which Robert Cleghorn and Alexander Cleghorn are Respondents, which stands appointed for Hearing, setting forth, "That the Petitioner having lately changed his Agent, he found that in the Appeal the Dates of Three of the Interlocutors of the 22d of November 1777, the 19th of June 1778, and the 18th of February 1779, have been omitted, and also an Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary, of the 14th of November 1781, is omitted;" and therefore praying their Lordships, "That he may be at Liberty to amend his said Appeal, by inserting the Dates of the said Three Interlocutors, and also by inserting the said Interlocutor of the Lord Ordinary, of the 14th of November 1781, he amending the Respondent's Copy:"

It is Ordered, That the Petitioner be at Liberty to amend his said Appeal, by inserting the Dates of the said Interlocutors, and also by inserting the Interlocutor of the 14th of November 1781, as desired, he amending the Respondent's Copy.

Fraseragainst Lord Advocate for Scotland.

Upon reading the Petition of Archibald Fraser of Lovat Esquire, Appellant in a Cause depending in this House, and of His Majesty's Advocate for Scotland, Respondent thereto, which stands appointed for Hearing, setting forth, "That both the Parties in this Cause are desiorus that the Hearing thereof should for some Time be postponed;" and therefore praying, "That the Hearing of this Cause be postponed till the first Cause Day after Easter:"

It is Ordered, That the Hearing of the said Cause be put off till the first Cause Day after Easter, as desired.

This Day Augustus Henry Duke of Grafton, and Henry Lord Stawell, took the Oaths and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Salop Roads Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing the Term and Powers of an Act, made in the Fourth Year of His present Majesty's Reign, for repairing several Roads leading from the Buck's Head at Watling Street to Beckbury and the New Inn, and from the Birches Brook to the Hand Post in the Parish of Kemberton, in the County of Salop, and for making the same more effectual," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to Report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Whitchurch Road Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale made the like Report from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An continue the Term and alter and enlarge the Powers of an Act, made in the Seventh Year of His present Majesty's Reign, to repair and widen the Roads from Whitchurch, in the County of Salop, to the Turnpike Road between Nantwich, in the County of Chester, and Newcastle-under-Lyne, and from Hinstock to Nantwich aforesaid," was committed.

Newfound land Trade Bill.

The Order of the Day being read for the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for confining for a limited Time, the Trade between the Ports of the United States of America, and His Majesty's Subjects in the Island of Newfoundland, to Bread, Flour, and Live Stock, to be imported in none but British built Ships, actually belonging to British Subjects, and navigated according to Law, clearing out from the Ports of His Majesty's European Dominions, and furnished with a Licence according to the Form hereunto annexed;" and for the Lords to be summoned:

The said Bill, was accordingly read a Second Time.

Moved, "That the said Bill be committed."

Which being objected to;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing an Act of the Sixth Year of His present Majesty, for amending, and widening the Road from the Town of Biddenden in the Weald of Kent, through the Towns of Smarden and Charing, to join the Turnpike Road which leads from Ashford to Feversham, at a Place called Bound Gate; to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Rotherham Road Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Knight and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act made in the Fourth Year of the Reign of King George the Third, intituled, An Act for amending, and widening the Road from the South End of the Town of Rotherham, in the County of York, to the present Turnpike Road near Pleasley, in the County of Derby, and also the Road from the North End of the said Town of Rotherham, into the present Turnpike Road on the East Side of Tankersley Park, in the said County of York, so far as the same relates to the Road, leading from Rotherham aforesaid, to the Turnpike Road near Pleasley aforesaid;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Doncaster Road Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Knight and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act, made in the Fourth Year of the Reign of King George the Third, intituled, An Act for amending, and widening the Road from Tinsley, in the County of York, to the Town of Doncaster in the said County;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Three Bills were, severally, read the First Time.

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be, and is hereby referred to the Lord Chief Baron of the Court of Exchequer, and Mr. Baron Perryn, who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and after hearing them, are to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon under their Hands, and whether all Parties who may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill, have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

After hearing Counsel as well on Monday the 21st, and Friday the 25th, as this Day, upon the Petition and Appeal of Alured Pincke Esquire, and Anne Thornycroft Spinster, complaining of a Decree or Order of Dismission of the Court of Chancery of the 2d of July 1783, and praying, "That the same might be reversed or varied; or that the Appellants might have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House, in their Lordships' great Wisdom, should seem meet;" as also upon the joint and several Answer of Edward Thornycroft Esquire, Ann Thornycroft, and Eleanor Thornycroft, put in to the said Appeal, and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Decree reversed with Directions.
