Newton Abbott Road Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act, passed in the Fifth Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for repairing and widening the Roads from the South End of Newton Abbott to the Passage Way in Kinswear, opposite Clifton Dartmouth Hardness, and from the End of a Lane leading out of the Turnpike Road between Newton Abbott and Totnes towards Abbott's Kerswell to Five Lanes, and from Langver's Barn to the said Turnpike Road, between Newton Abbott and Totnes, and from Galmpton Warborough to Monk's Bridge and Brixham Quay, and from Langver's Barn to the North End of Paington Town, all in the County of Devon."

Fallijeff and Sir W. Forbes against Elphinstone and Gardiner:

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Major Michael Fallijeff, Merchant in St. Petersburgh, and Sir William Forbes Baronet, Banker in Edinburgh; his Attorney, complaining of three Interlocutors of the Judge Admiral in Scotland, of the 30th of November 1781, the 5th of July 1782, and the 28th of February 1783; and also of four Interlocutors of the Lord Ordinary there, of the 31st of October 1782, and 11th and 29th of July, and 13th of November 1783; and also of two Interlocutors of the Lords of Session there, of the 23d of November 1782, and 12th of February 1784; and praying, "That the same may be reversed, varied, or amended, or that the Appellants may have such other Relief in the Premises as to this House, in their Lordships' great Wisdom, shall seem proper; and that the Honourable William Elphinstone, Owner of the Ship the Paisley, of Carron, and John Gardiner, the Master of the said Ship, may be required to answer the said Appeal:"

The Lord Scarsdale reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enlarging the Term and Powers of an Act, passed in the Second Year of the Reign of His present Majesty, for amending, widening, and keeping in repair, the Road from Castle-Street, at the End of the Town of Hinckley, to Lutterworth Town's End, and from or near the Guide Post at Walcot Town's End, in the County of Leicester, to the Eighty Mile Stone in Welford Field, in the County of Northampton," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House without any Amendment."

The Lord Scarsdale made the like Report from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable the Honourable Richard Lumley and his Heirs Maleto take and use the Surname and Arms of Savile, pursuant to the Will of Sir George Savile Baronet, deceased," was committed.

Morley Enclosure Bill.

The Lord Scarsdale also reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for dividing and inclosing several Commons and Waste Grounds within the Parish of Morley, in the County of Derby," was committed: "That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; that the Parties concerned had given their Consents to the Satisfaction of the Committee; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and made one Amendment thereto."

Which Amendment was read by the Clerk, as follows; (videlicet)

Pr. 43. L. 2 and 3. After ("notwithstanding") insert ("provided nevertheless that no such Lease shall be made but with the Consent and Approbation of the Lord Bishop of the Diocese, and the Patron or Patrons of the said Rectory.")

A Petition of John Shortreid, Appellant in a Cause depending in this House, to which Andrew Brown is Respondent, which stands appointed for hearing, was presented and read, setting forth, "That their Lordships were pleased in the last Session of Parliament to put off the hearing of this Cause to the present Session, in order to give the Petitioner Time to have the Benefit of his Action of Declarator, pending in the Court of Session. But the Court, perceiving it disrespectful in them to proceed in the said Action, during the Dependence of this Appeal, have stayed their Proceedings therein, until their Lordships make some Order on the said Appeal. Dalton's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of the Reverend James Dalton Clerk, Rector of the Parish Church of Stanmore Magna, otherwise Great Stanmore in the County of Middlesex, praying "Leave to bring in a Bill for effectuating an Exchange of certain Lands in the Petition mentioned, between the Petitioner and George Drummond Esquire:"

It is Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be and is hereby referred to Mr. Justice Gould and Mr. Justice Ashhurst, who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill, and after hearing them, are to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands; and whether all Parties who may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Receipt Duty Bill:

The Order of the Day being read for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to explain and amend an Act made in the last Session of Parliament, intituled, "An Act for repealing an Act made in the Twenty-second Year of His present Majesty, intituled, "An Act for charging a Stamp Duty upon Inland Bills of Exchange, Promissory Notes, or other Notes, payable otherwise than upon Demand;" and for granting new Stamp Duties on Bills of Exchange, Promissory and other Notes, and also Stamp Duties on Receipts;" and for indemnifying all Persons who have written or signed any Bill of Exchange, Promissory or other Note, or any Receipt not stamped according to Law."

The House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the said Bill.

After some Time, the House was resumed;

And the Lord Scarsdale reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
