Hunter v. Roughead & Melrose:

After hearing Counsel this Day upon the Petition and Appeal of James Hunter of Wellfield, Writer in Dunse, only surviving Trustee and Executor of the late James Roughead, Tenant of Jardinfield; complaining of Three Interlocutors of the Lord Ordinary in Scotland, of the 10th of June and 1st of July 1824, and the 17th of January 1826; also of Three Interlocutors of the Lords of Session there, of the First Division, of the 1st (signed 2d), 16th and 23d of February 1827; also of Four Interlocutors of the said Lord Ordinary, of the 6th of March, and the 3d of July 1827, of the 3d of June 1828, and the 12th of May 1829; also of Seven Interlocutors of the said Lords of Session, of the First Division, of the 19th of June, Two of the 11th of July, of 28th November (signed 1st December) 1829 in so far as it finds the Expences fall to be paid out of the Trust Funds, and excepting in so far as it finds the Petitioner entitled to the Expences of realizing the Crop therein mentioned, and remits to the Accountant to amend his Report; Two of the 2d of March, and One of the 15th (signed 20th) of May 1830; and praying, "That the same might be reversed, varied or altered, so far as complained of, or that the Appellant might have such Relief in the Premises, as to this House, in their Lordships great Wisdom, should seem meet;" as also upon the Answer of Mrs. Isobel Dickson or Melrose, Widow of the deceased James Roughead, now Spouse of William Melrose, residing in Woodmarket Street of Kelso, with his Consent, and the said William Melrose for his Interest, put into the said Appeal; and due Consideration had of what was offered on either Side in this Cause:

Interlocutors Affirmed.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby dismissed this House, and that the Interlocutors therein complained of, be, and the same are hereby Affirmed.

Balmer v. Hogarth et al. Balmer v. Hogarth.

After hearing Counsel, in Part, in the Cause wherein Thomas Balmer is Appellant, and John Hogarth Esquire, and others, are Respondents; and also in the Cause wherein Thomas Balmer is Appellant, and John Hogarth Esquire is Respondent:

It is Ordered, That the further Hearing of the said Causes be put off 'till To-morrow.

Wine Duties Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to equalize the Duties on Wine;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be printed.

Waterloo Bridge New Street Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bernal and others;

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act to authorize and empower the Commissioners appointed by an Act of the Seventh Year of His late Majesty King George the Fourth, for extending to Charing Cross, the Strand and Places adjacent, the Powers of an Act for making a more convenient Communication from Mary-le-bone Park, to make and form a new Street from the Strand to Charles Street, Covent Garden, and to widen the North End of Bow Street into Long Acre; and for other Purposes;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read the First Time.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure.

The House was resumed by The Lord Chancellor.

Reform of Parliament, Petition from Derby in favor of, offered & withdrawn.

A Petition of the Inhabitants of Derby, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships, "That the Measure for amending the Representation of the People in England and Wales may pass into a Law," being offered to be presented to the House:

The same was objected to;

And a Debate arising thereupon,

The said Petition was (by Leave of the House) withdrawn.

Agricultural Labourers Employment Bill.

Ordered, That the Amendments made by the Committee, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for encouraging and facilitating the Employment of Labourers in Agriculture," stands referred, be printed for the Use of the Members of the Committee.

Harris v. Kemble et al.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein Henry Harris is Appellant, and Charles Kemble, and others, are Respondents, be further heard by Counsel at the Bar on Wednesday next.

Megget & Roy v. Douglas.

Ordered, That the Hearing of the Cause wherein Thomas Megget and James Roy are Appellants, and Alexander Douglas is Respondent, which stands appointed for this Day, be put off 'till To-morrow.

Ker et al. v. Sir R. W. Vaughan et al.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein John Bellenden Ker, and others, are Appellants, and Sir Robert Williams Vaughan Baronet, and others, are Respondents, be heard by Counsel at the Bar To-morrow.

Game Bill.

The Order of the Day being read for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend the Laws in England relative to Game;" and for the Lords to be summoned;

It was moved, "That the House do now resolve itself into a Committee upon the said Bill."

The Question was put thereupon?

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Public Works Bill reported:

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend several Acts passed for authorizing the Issue of Exchequer Bills and the Advance of Money for carrying on Public Works and Fisheries, and Employment of the Poor; and to authorize a further Issue of Exchequer Bills for the Purposes of the said Acts."

After some Time, the House was resumed:

Contempts in Ecclesiastical Courts Bill.

Etzerodt's Naturalization Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for naturalizing Christian Eizerodt," was committed; That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Ordered, That the said Bill be ingrossed.

Comrs of Public Accounts (Ireland) Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act of the Fifty-second Year of the Reign of His Majesty King George the Third, respecting the Audit of the Public Accounts of Ireland; and to appoint the Number of Commissioners competent to grant Quietus to Public Accountants, under an Act passed in the Fifty-sixth Year of the Reign of His Majesty King George the Third, for consolidating the Public Revenues of Great Britain and Ireland."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee upon the said Bill To-morrow.

Clare Presentments Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable the Treasurer of the County of Clare to issue his Warrants for the levying of the Presentments made at the Spring Assizes of the Year One thousand eight hundred and thirty-one."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

Beer Act Amendment Bill.

Ordered, That the Report of the Amendments made by the Committee of the Whole House to the Bill, intituled, "An Act to amend an Act passed in the First Year of His present Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act to permit the general Sale of Beer and Cyder by Retail in England," be received To-morrow; and that the Lords be summoned.
