After hearing Counsel fully in the Cause wherein Murdo Mackenzie Esquire is Appellant, and Hugh Rose Esquire is Respondent:

It is Ordered, That the further Consideration of the said Cause be put off sine Die.

Baird v. Ross.

Ordered, That the Hearing of the Cause wherein William Baird is Appellant, and Robert Ross is Respondent, which stands appointed for this Day, be put off sine Die.

Message from H.C. for Report & Evidence on Tithes, Ireland:

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Solicitor General for Ireland and others, as follows; (vizt.)

"My Lords,

"The Commons have directed me to request that your Lordships will be pleased to communicate to them a Copy of the Report, together with the Minutes of Evidence taken before the Select Committee appointed by your Lordships, in the present Session of Parliament, to enquire into the Collection and Payment of Tithes in Ireland, and the State of the Laws relating thereto."

And then they withdrew.

It was moved, "That a Copy of the said Report and Minutes of Evidence be communicated to the Commons."

The same was agreed to, and Ordered accordingly.

Report, &c. communicated.

The Messengers were again called in, and a Copy of the said Report and Evidence were delivered to them.

Clayton's Divorce Bill.

The Order of the Day being read for the Second Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act to dissolve the Marriage of William Robert Clayton Esquire with Alice Hugh Massy his now Wife, and to enable him to marry again; and for other Purposes;"

It was moved, "That the said Bill be now read a Second Time."

Which being objected to;

The Question was put thereupon?

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Then the said Bill was read a Second Time.

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee upon the said Bill To-morrow.

Baking Trade (Ireland) Bill:

The Order of the Day being read for the Third Reading of the Bill, intituled, "An Act to regulate the Baking Trade in Ireland;"

The said Bill was accordingly read the Third Time.

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H.C. with it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Martin and Mr. Roupell;

To carry down the said Bill, and desire their Concurrence thereto.

Education, (Ireland,) Petitions against proposed Plan of:

Upon reading the Petition of the Archbishop, Bishops, Protestant Clergy of various Denominations, and Protestant Laymen of Ireland, whose Names are thereunto subscribed:

And also, Upon reading the Petition of the Clergy and Laymen of the City and County of Waterford, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; severally praying their Lordships, "That no Legislative Measure may be enacted, and no Parliamentary Aid afforded to any System of Education of the Poor of Ireland, inconsistent with the great and distinguishing Principle of the Christian Faith, namely, that the whole Word of God shall be the only acknowledged Standard of National Education:"

Boveva.

Upon reading the Petition of the Inhabitants of the Parish of Boveva, in the County of Londonderry, Ireland, whose Names are thereunto subscribed; praying their Lordships "to continue their Aid to the present System of Education of the Poor of Ireland, which has been their Support and Protection, and not to close their Schools, and again cast their Children into Darkness, in the vain Hope of uniting the conflicting Religious Denominations of Ireland in a common Plan of National Education:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition do lie on the Table.

Offices held by W. H. Scott, Account of, Ordered.

Ordered, That there be laid before this House, "A Return of all Offices held by The Honorable William Henry Scott, by Appointment under the Great Seal, with a Description of such Offices, and the Form and Date of Appointment to each, distinguishing those in Possession and those in Reversion; with an Account of the Emoluments received by him from each of such Offices upon an Average of the last Three Years."

Rhodes v. De Beauvoir.

Ordered, That the Cause wherein William Rhodes is Appellant, and Richard Benyon De Beauvoir is Respondent, be heard by Counsel at the Bar on Friday next.

Reports on Universities, Scotland, delivered.

The Lord Melbourne laid before the House, pursuant to an Address to His Majesty of Tuesday last,

The Reports of the Commissioners for enquiring into the State of the Universities in Scotland."

And the Titles thereof being read by the Clerk;

Bp. Chichester to preach on the Fast Day.

Ordered, That The Lord Bishop of Chichester be, and he is hereby desired to preach before this House on Wednesday the 21st of this instant March, in the Abbey Church, Westminster, being the Day appointed by His Majesty's Royal Proclamation for a General Fast.

St. Helens, &c. Gas Light Bill:

Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for lighting with Gas the Town of Saint Helens, the Hamlet of Hardshaw-cum-Windle, and the several Townships of Windle, Parr, Eccleston and Sutton, all in the Parish of Prescot, in the County Palatine of Lancaster."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H.C. that the Lords have agreed to it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by the former Messengers;

To acquaint them, That the Lords have agreed to the said Bill, without any Amendment.

Mutiny Continuing Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for continuing an Act passed in the First Year of His present Majesty, for punishing Mutiny and Desertion, and for the better Payment of the Army and their Quarters."

Marine Mutiny Continuing Bill.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed for hearing the Cause wherein John Bush, and others, are Appellants, and Susannah Locke is Respondent:"

Clyne v. Manson & Goldie.

The House being informed, "That Alexander Manson and Archibald Watson Goldie, Respondents to the Appeal of David Clyne, had not put in their Answer to the said Appeal, though duly served with the Order of this House for that Purpose:"

And an Affidavit of the due Service of the said Order being read;

Ordered, That the said Respondents do put in their Answer to the said Appeal peremptorily within a Week.

Sir W. Eliott et al. v. E. of Minto, Appellants Petition for Time for their Case, referred to Appeal Com ee.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir William Francis Eliott Baronet, and others, Appellants in a Cause depending in this House, to which Gilbert Earl of Minto is Respondent; praying, "That their Lordships will be pleased to grant to the Petitioners Four Weeks further Time to lay their printed Case on the Table of this House:"

It is Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Appeal Committee.

Downham Market Road Bill.

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for more effectually repairing the Road from Downham Market to Barton, and to a Place called the Devil's Ditch, all in the County of Norfolk," was committed; That they had considered the said Bill, and examined the Allegations thereof, which were found to be true; and that the Committee had gone through the Bill, and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."

Report from Com ee on Waterford Peerage:

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees for Privileges, to whom it was referred to consider of the Petition of John Earl of Shrewsbury to His Majesty; praying, "That the Title, Dignity and Peerage of Earl of Waterford may be declared and adjudged to belong to and to be vested in the Petitioner;" together with His Majesty's Reference thereof to this House, and the Report of The Attorney General thereunto annexed; "That the Committee had met, and considered the Matter to them referred, and had heard Counsel, as well on behalf of the Petitioner, as also His Majesty's Attorney General for England, and also His Majesty's Solicitor General for Ireland, on behalf of the Crown, and had come to the following Resolution; (vizt.)

"Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That John Earl of Shrewsbury hath made out his Claim to the Title, Dignity and Honor of Earl of Waterford of that Part of the United Kingdom called Ireland."

Which Report was read by the Clerk.

And the said Resolution, being read a Second Time, was agreed to by the House.

Resolution that the Claimant hath made out his Claim:

Resolved and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, in Parliament assembled, That John Earl of Shrewsbury hath made out his Claim to the Title, Dignity and Honor of Earl of Waterford of that Part of the United Kingdom called Ireland.

Resolution to be laid before His Majesty.

Ordered, That the said Resolution and Judgment be laid before His Majesty by the Lords with White Staves.

Report from Com ee on Ld. Trimlestown's Claim to vote for Peers for Ireland:

The Earl of Shaftesbury reported from the Lords Committees for Privileges, to whom it was referred to consider of the Petition of The Right Honorable John Thomas Baron Trimlestown of that Part of the United Kingdom called Ireland; praying, "That his Right to vote at the Elections of Peers of Ireland to sit in the Parliament of the United Kingdom may be admitted by their Lordships;" "That the Committee had met, and considered the Petition to them referred, and had come to the following Resolution; (vizt.)

Resolved, That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That John Thomas Baron Trimlestown of that Part of the United Kingdom called Ireland hath made out his Claim to be admitted, as a Temporal Peer of Ireland, to vote at the Election of the Lords Temporal to represent the Peerage of Ireland in the Parliament of the United Kingdom."

Which Report, being read by the Clerk, was agreed to by the House.

Resolution that his Lordship hath made out his Claim.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for making and maintaining a Reservoir upon Bradshaw Brook, in the Townships of Turton and Entwisle, in the Parish of Bolton-le-Moors, in the County of Lancaster, for providing a more regular Supply of Water in Bradshaw Brook aforesaid, and in certain Rivers connected therewith."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords present this Day:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet Tomorrow, at Ten o'Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings, near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Five Oaks Road Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for more effectually repairing and maintaining the Turnpike Road from or near a Place called the Five Oaks, in the Parish of Billingshurst, to join the Horsham and Guildford Turnpike Road on Broadbridge Heath, in the County of Sussex."

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet Tomorrow, at the usual Time and Place; and to adjourn as they please.

Festiniog Railway Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for making and maintaining a Railway or Tramroad from a certain Quay at Portmadock, in the Parish of Ynyscynhaiarn, in the County of Carnarvon, to certain Slate Quarries called Rhiw-bryfder and Dyffws, in the Parish of Festiniog, in the County of Merioneth."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to the Consideration of the Lords present this Day:

Their Lordships, or any Five of them, to meet on Thursday next, at the usual Time and Place; and to adjourn as they please.

Plurality of Benefices Bill.

The Order of the Day being read for the House to be put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to restrain and regulate the holding of Plurality of Dignities and Benefices by Spiritual Persons;" and for the Lords to be summoned;

Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee upon the said Bill on Friday next; and that the Lords be summoned.
